Moving forward, here's my take:- 1. Drop Casemiro for good and make Toby Collyer to partner with Kobbie Mainoo and make Bruno Fernandes as the center piece of the midfield puzzle. 2. Make Harry Amas to be on the left back instead of Dalot. But move Dalot back to his original position on the right back. 3. Make de Ligt and Mazraoui to be the main center-backs. Licha needs to be 100% okay before he can be back on the pitch. Can't afford to get a long term injury by getting rolled over by the opposition players. 4. As for the wingers, drop Rashford for good and make Garnacho on the left and stick Amad Diallo on the right as usual. 5. Center-forward? You have no choice but to unleash Joshua Zirkzee to the fray. He needs to show that he's capable of scoring goals while waiting for Højlund to return. Start and finish fast as a team and we'll see how far we can go this season. It's not a sprint, but a marathon.

Stop playing players out of position and be braver with his squad selection. For example how is De Ligt supposed to get better in PL when he is a bench warmer. Ten hag was literally asking for him and yet he opts for Maguire. Garbacho and Amad has proven themselves to be first team players and zirkzee has shown potential. Take a chance and put all 3 up front, why you scared. And get the ugarte deal over the line. Pay what you need to pay. Overall it's an excellent transfer window if we can get ugarte over the line. Maybe a left back after that.

Sam it's like you always dance around the obvious and it's really starting to get weird. 1. Bruno lacks the positional discipline to play this style of play, he played more as a left midfielder instead of a false 9 in the first half as he was just to eager to get on the ball and even his pressing is unintelligent, His decision making is so poor(those travellas are killing me).I don't think he has the discipline for the style of play. 2. Without Mount we can't implement this high pressing game model and it was obvious for us to see. He's so intelligent, disciplined and relentless with his pressing that it seems like a talent on its own. Mount behind a Zirkzee or Hojlund would discourage every opposition backline from playing out. Bruno always breaks our shape by loosing his head and charging out like a bull which frees a players for the opposite.His lack of discipline is really concerning for a captain. 3. Cas all of a sudden thinks he's an attacker and not a protector. Most of the times he's out of position and he lacks the pace to cover it. The positions he takes up at times is bewildering. 4. Rashford! Call out rashford for the love of God. That guy has no fight in him, he looks uninterested still. I should never start for us and that's putting it mildly. Just say the obvious Sam, i'm a big fan of your channel and I know you see these things too.

As fans - we want to win always. We also wear our emotions on our sleeves. The criticism of the team and manager however does go over board. Football is played by human beings, not robots. They will make mistakes. The manager also needs all his players to buy in and made to feel that they belong. Where mistakes are made, the coaching staff are to find solutions - we can help them by giving suggestions here. On the second goal, if one of the players closed down the the player with the ball, the cross would have been prevented and they had enough players around the ball to have committed to that and not stand off. This is a split second decision. The second issue in this game is poor finishing in front of goal / and numerous offsides. The ball over the opposition defense is not released early, and the runners should learn to bend their runs - to cut back on the offsides. Clinical finishing in front of goal - would secure the game early. It was present against Fulham also.

The criticism of Maguire for that first goal is a bit over the top. In those situations it's a split-second judgement call and 9 times out of 10 it would have the right thing to do. Mazraoui had it covered but didn't do too well, Casemiro didn't react to what was happening at all, and Lisandro didn't react to Casemiro not reacting. Just another goal conceded where people weren't doing the basics.

It came down to a freak occurrence. Had Zirkzee not collided with the goal bound ball, we would have gone 1-2 up and almost certainly have won. The stat about conceding in the 90th minute means nothing. Every team concedes more because they play many more minutes of injury time, and united’s figures are skewed by being so bad last season. It won’t continue this season as we’re in a much better situation. But the players have been conditioned by last season to fear the worse which has an effect.

For the second goal, mazraoui and dalot decided to become right back whilst casemiro who was occupying the left back area vacated that space. De Ligt for some reason sprinted forward, and McTominay of all people was playing LCB. Two brighton players are so smart they just wait at the backpost without anybody noticing.

Can’t play 4-2-4 with two false 9’s. It’s all just running around with absolutely no goal threat. No penetrating runs. We need a focal point. If he wants to use Mount, he should use him at the right wing in a Mata-esque role. Also, Garnacho should start on the left wing. The paper formation determines nothing. Depending on the phase of play in question Formations are always switching up and players must adjust there positions. the 4-2-4 you are referring to is only for pinning the opponent into a preferred starting position .

The role of the false nine is to collect the ball from deep/provide playmaking for the wingers. Kind of like what Firmino did for Salah and Mané at LFC. They scored a lot of goals. Also, the false 9 should contribute with a few goals. This style of play can be good, but requires alot of work rate from false 9 + midfielders as everyone needs to be more attacking when a striker provides fewer goals. United don’t have the personell in midfield to play this intensive, nor the goal threat from wingers, so they should play more traditionally with a striker (no. 9) We have created about 8 good chances in 2 matches. This is the same amount as city creates in 45 minutes. To create more chances we should play more direct and stop this nonsense. It will only get ETH fired by November.

Unpopular opinion: Give Harry Amass a chance at LB and see how he plays. He's hungry for success. I know he has defensive positioning issues, but I'd rather outscore an opposition than lose a match in extra time. And of course, allow Rashford to view the game from the bench.

For the first goal, Maguire should have cleared the ball, but Casemiro is the main reason we conceded the goal. Maguire even called out the danger to Casemiro 10 seconds earlier and Casemiro didn’t bother doing his job. That’s why Brighton had the overload on the left, and why welbeck was free in the middle. The rest of the back 4 did their jobs.

There is nothing frustrating in loosing to Brighton on their ground. We lose it third consecutive season in a row. With the crappiest No: 8 ever, wearing the Captain's armband, offering absolutely nothing in the attack, doing no job in the defense, having squandered 3 clear chances in two games, all of this rewarded with a new contract for him, loosing to Brighton was something that we as a fan base should have anticipated in first place. Take that amateur away from the team, put Mount or any other proper AMF in, give that player some space, and you have massively improved your team.

On the first Brighton goal I feel Casemiro was the main issue and not so much Maguire. Both Maguire and Martinez were marking targets while Casemiro was ball watching and leaving Welbeck wide open. Welbeck was the player free because of the overload and extra help from Casemiro was needed to deal with this treat.

Zirkzee was slow to react, he should have sprinted towards goal as soon as the pass went to Bruno.. He waited way too long, he’s not a natural goal scorer.. Hojlund gets to that 10/10 times.

we need ugarte and a natural left back. the first goal is maguire error by not clearing the ball out. the second goal is left back and left wing error. they should be covering that space. we cannot depend on dalot playing left back. dalot is a natural right back. harry amass is a better option. amass did well during the pre season. eth must take risks. thats how you win games.

The main thing he needs to do, is stop player favouritism when it comes to selection… It’s really the underlying issue with his problems- for example mason mount and Bruno in the same team isn’t great, problem is mason was signed for big money to be on the Bench and the player he competes with for game time is rarely rotated or subbed even if he’s playing badly! Resulting in him trying to squeeze both in to the detriment of the team. Bruno should feel like he’s a couple bad games aaay from Mount taking his place! Then there’s rashford, no one can tell me sancho would be worse and that garnacho is simply a sub impact player… he also needs to be wary of running mainoo into the ground so early in his career… and be brave enough to try Almass at LB seeing as we don’t have a fit natural one.

How do you want to attack and win a game when you have a fit centre forward but keep him on the bench? You invite pressure on your midfield and defence from the first minute when you don’t have someone in front troubling the opponents’ defence.

He needs to fix the press upfront. They keep leaving a player or two free. Either a midfielder or a fullback or both. Sometimes, a centre back, as if they are afraid to press head on. In our half, they should form a shield, pressing opponents away into their own half. And in possession, some players drift away from the ball, not coming in numbers to receive passes, resulting in lame sideway passes, back passes and long balls. Also, players must learn to hold the ball with twists and turns, dribbles and passes (however it may be) but ones that makes the play beautiful to keep possession no matter the opponents tassle for the ball. Until he recognises this, it'll never get better. We need to win trophies and we can't do that if we aren't a dominant force all round.

How much longer can we keep accepting excuses from ten Hag? This is his third season now, and despite spending big money on players like Antony, Casemiro, and Lisandro Martínez, we still haven't seen the consistency or results we expect. These are his signings, brought in for massive fees, and yet the performances remain up and down. At some point, we have to question if he's getting the best out of these players or if his tactics just aren't working. We need more than just talk; we need to see tangible progress on the pitch. We got players who from time to time just becomes passive (like ball-watching spectators) to what's happening around (e.g. Casemiro during the sequence of the first Brighton goal AND also multiple players during the 2nd Brighton goal). Then we had players that just overcomplicate things when there is a smarter way to complete an objective (e.g. sequence of Amad passing the ball to Rashford instead of Bruno. Bruno passing to Garnacho without priotizing the timing to a much nearer Zirkzee). Brain fart? No discipline? Low IQ? Playing cute? This is very frustrating especially if you see this happen time and again with experienced players. This is not just about tactics and drills... players need to bloody wake up on the field and focus!

Fun fact the goal we scored wasn't a goal from a counter attack, so I dont get why the likes of bruno and rashford goes for a trackrace kind of hollywood ball. When our best attack was when we actually controlled the ball. And the moment we had the ball in the last few minutes before the goal if I was one of the players I would have slowed down the play and wait till everyone has their position in place to start an attack again and not the likes of case, McTominay (defensive midfielder) going full offensive. Gotta disagree with some of that. We were much better with Mount, as soon as he was subbed spaces opened up for BHA, and they were the better team. Not sure we lost our attacking intent with Mount on, as we carved BHSA open a couple ot times and should have been ahead before half time.

Goals ate what we need. So far this season. Fred and greenwood. Have scored 6 goals between them sold on supposedly not required at united. We played in this manner against City, 1 win, 1 draw. So naturally, the fanbase started to have high hopes, high expectations. So a near miss against Fulham and a lose against Brighton feels disappointing. It's like the other managers have found out how to play against Ten hags 4222 like shape. Brighton were able to bypass MUFC press with clever passes from Steelman. Personally, I would like to see Zirkzee in starting 11 and also De Ligt. And a slight twist to game plan, during match time, to adjust. Have a plan B and C from the beginning. Ie. if Steelman keeps bypass our pressure, then adjust the gameplan.

It's not great is it. in fact i'd say Brighton have a better squad overall. You could tell by their players coming off the bench, they looked more likely to score the winner and they did. i don't see this season going well. Yorro is the only signing that fills me with confidence but he's not available for 3 months. Struggling to score goals and conceeding soft goals, not good sign already! We really need a more mobile DM to allow kobbie to get further forward.We just don't have enough players with good footballing IQ, that needs to be addressed by Ashworth and co.
