But just because you fans show loyalty to him does not mean he has to show loyalty to you or Liverpool. Football is a fickle sport and players have to do what they think is right for themselves. If he joins Madrid he'll be making more money, he'll be guaranteed to win trophies (even if it's not the Champions League every season) and he'll be playing for the biggest football club in the world. I don't think he's good enough to win the ballon d'or, no matter what club he's at. He's good, but not ballon d'or material. If you enjoy your time at a club, they treat you well, pay you fairly and the fans worship you, sometimes the grass isn't greener somewhere else. I don’t know if this is still the case, but a few years ago I read that Trent is the only member of his youth team, that is currently a professional footballer. There is no loyalty in football.

That has nothing to do with loyalty and everything to do with talent. Pretty much every professional player has come through a youth team somewhere, they can't all end up playing professionally as not enough places in squads.

Totally agree with Carra there. "If you're a local player and Liverpool are competeting for the League and playing CL every season, what more do you want?". Club loyalty is a rare thing these days. He is the vice captain of the team, the supporters admire him, a local hero. What else do you want? He saw what happened to others who wanted to leave. Wijnaldum, Can, Coutinho, their careers was a failure after leaving Liverpool.

I love the line. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want loyalty or to hate on players that are not loyal. Liverpool have him his chance and are competitive. If they can offer competitive wages. I don’t think it’s wrong to be annoyed. Trent could become a hero at Liverpool. At Madrid he would be another in the crowd. He won’t win a Ballon d’Or with a team that’s got Mbappe and Vini in it. It's not unreasonable for the fans to want loyalty, but in football there's very little loyalty anyway, clubs force players out all the time, and realistically I don't think Liverpool are offering Trent a competitive contract to what other clubs will because they assume coz he's a home grown player he should stay for less than he's worth. I don't think there's anything wrong with Trent moving on, he has ambition, he wants to play in a different league and country and he wants to play for the biggest club in the world. He only gets one quite short career, he should be allowed to go where he wants. IMHO it would be pathetic if Liverpool fans hate on him or boo him if he returns to Anfield with Madrid, although it would be nice drama, it just would be unnecessary

I think Liverpool will win big things with Slot and he will be key. Also the Prem is the biggest league, if you have ambition try and win the most difficult league.

@ID-ce1in Well the thing is this situation will always look like the player is running down their contract to the fans, but if Liverpool aren't offering him a good amount there's no reason for him to sign. And at Liverpool while he is a big piece going forward for them, I could easily see him being as big in the Madrid team in his role, sure he'll have Mbappe, Bellingham and Vinicius as bigger stars but with the retirement of Kroos and Modric leaving soon, they will need a talented distributor of the ball. If he excels in his role, he will do just as well at Madrid. And tbh he's already won one Prem, winning the Champions League with Madrid consistently might be a goal for him. I doubt he will get close to the Ballon Dor, because as a fullback he will be judged on his defensive work aswell which he has flaws in, and the forward players just have the favouritism for it

I think its delusional for Trent to actually think he could win the Ballon, cause even if he went to Real and gave 30 assists, everyone would still vote for Vini or Mbappe cause they score the goals. I’m a TAA fan, but if he wants to leave his home then so be it…. Connor Bradley has proven himself, Joe Gomez is a better defense minded player, we have several lethal free kick takers, and there would be more cash for FSG to invest in extending contracts for VVD and Mo. Honestly, the most frustrating thing if Trent moves on is that we won't get a dime for him. It does look likely that he moves on. It's a 2 horse league and he'll inevitably win more trophies there. But honestly, if there's enough creativity in the midfield and attack, you don't need a Trent.
