Hey spike the reason why you want a bigger bike like a 650 because of the extra weight which helped keep you planted to road especially when big trucks go by or fast cross wind and by the way you're on an interstate or freeway that not a highway

@SummitCoyote
@SummitCoyote Ай бұрын
@@pleasedontwatchthese9593 nah because that thing has been abused I'm probably going to spend more time being worked on than actually ridden. that's the issue with buying used for a new rider. most aren't really all that proficient with the mechanical side of it yet and they're not really sure what to look for when buying a used bike. so new is easier. Warranties are nice to have too. another thing is that when I bought mine, I was looking at used motorcycles but used bikes were selling for the same prices a new one because dealerships weren't stalking these beginner bikes in the showroom and so there was a shortage of new bikes and the price of used bikes skyrocketed. there were 5yo beginner bikes going for above MSRP for a new one lol.

yeah until a beginner buys a crap bike that is going to be in the garage being worked on more than being actually ridden. beginners don't know what to even look for with a used bike or what is a good deal. sure there may be a few hidden gems on marketplace or whatever But they're surrounded by overpriced garbage you have to sift through. There's something to be said for warranty as well. My first bike was new. I haven't dropped it and I've put 10,000 mi on it. I wouldn't trust 90% of what I see on Facebook marketplace.

@SummitCoyote Great points dude. I bought a new BMW F900r and splurged for extra warranty which I ended up being at 5 years total on for $7999. The dealer gave me a great deal on it. I HAVE DROPPED IT THOUGH apparently kickstands don't work via Bluetooth (I forgot it). Only damage done was the clutch lever broke off and the shifter bent. I replaced the shifter with a nicer one which is adjustable and a nicer clutch lever and brake lever. Costs roughly $120 all in all and I learned a thing or two. Zero regrets

TL;DR For busy cities like London, a 450 is more than enough, the features and build quality of my 450SR are incredible. If anyone is thinking of downgrading, look no further! UK boy, I stepped down from a 2020 Fireblade SP to the 450 SR/450 SS after moving to London from a rural area, and I couldn't be happier!!!! I had the Fireblade for over 2 years, and living with it in London was a nightmare, and frankly very boring to ride. The vast majority of London now has a speed limit of 20mph, traffic everywhere is full of speed cameras and unmarked police cars, and pedos hiding in bushes with radar guns. So having a monster of a motorbike made no sense to me. Too busy working to take the bike out of London regularly, and even if I did manage to have some time off work to do it, by the time I'm outside crazy busy London my body is exhausted, and I can't enjoy a fun ride because I will be dreading the journey back home. People need to be realistic in their needs, my 450 SR is MOOOOOORE than plenty for my situation. Heck, our delivery riders use 50cc mopeds and they are the fastest guys through London! My 450 SR looks amazing, has brilliant tech, plenty of power and character, and is way more comfortable than the Fireblade. The build quality is better too! The Fireblade has very cheap feeling plastics, the fairings would rattle and squeak like crazy, and it wasn't just mine, go touch one at your local Honda dealership! The 450SR is way better built in my opinion, even all the buttons and switch gear feel better! Motorcycle theft is also something a lot of people need to consider. And again, the 450 SR has a built-in tracker, and even notifies me if someone dares to touch it! All through an app on your phone! The app also allows you to do a "health check" on your bike, alerting you of any issues, tracking your rides giving you scores on how dangerous you ride on a bunch of metrics such as hard acceleration or braking (great for parents who want to keep an eye on their children), and many more features. With the Fireblade I got NOTHING! IT DIDN'T EVEN SHOW ME HOW MUCH FUEL I HAD IN THE TANK! Obviously they are two very different machines, built for different purposes. The Fireblade was a complete monster and Hooligan, and made a novice rider like myself look like Rossi on the rare occasions I took it on track days. But this is why people need to be REALISTIC!!!! How often do you really have a chance to put such a beast through its paces?! All that bike has done for me was empty my wallet through high insurance and other operating costs, and more than likely made me infertile (the way such bikes heat your crotch up at a traffic light is insane, you have to keep it at 90mph to cool the engine down to comfortable levels). And don't kid yourselves saying you need a monster bike because you'll take it to a track day. You won't. You'll be too afraid to crash it as the repair costs will be insanely high. I have friends who daily 1000s but track 300s and 400s because of that very reason. Be realistic! For a lot of us, something like a Ninja 400 or cfmoto 450SR is more than enough. Even outside busy cities. Brilliant fun. And the CF Motos quality is way better than most big-boy brands in my opinion. And there is a lot of aftermarket support, you just need to look at Asian online marketplaces. The amount of mods you'll find there is MAD! Done 7,000 miles in 6 months and never had any issues with the bike. There is a recall, but that's for the T-box fitting where it will give you issues only if you live in extremely hot climates that can melt car bumpers! Not even worth looking at in climates like England's. Don't let things like that scare you. Read about brands like BMWs which had huge recalls because of their braking systems on their S1000Rs.

I've bought a 450 NK last week and it rips! The sound of the engine is one of the best i've heard on a stock 400 - 500cc motorcycle, hands down. This stock exhaust pops and bangs like crazy and I need to wear ear plugs when I rides this thing. The power down low is insane for an A2 powered bike. It is faster than my previous restriced Yamaha XJ6 (600cc 4 cilinder), so that says a lot. Top speed on the inscription paper says 112 mph (180 km/h), for the ones who are interested in it. The build quality is in the same ball park as my XJ6 and way better than my Ninja 300 was. I still have a 2022 Duke 125 (same chassis as the Duke 390) and the 450 NK beats it in build quality for sure. I'm 6 ft tall, +- 32 inch inseam and I fit perfectly on it. The tyres are CST Adreno As5; never heard of this brand and they look a lot like slics, but they give me a lot of confidence in the dry, so no worries there. The only downside at this moment is indeed the jerkyness while riding about 20 to 30 mph (about 30 km/h and 50km/h). You feel this thing wants to GO. A small tune will probably fix that. Other than that it is an amazing bike. Would recommend this over a new Duke 390 and z500 any day!

50 years old, been riding motorcycles since I was 12, currently own 2 Harleys. I test road this bike a few weeks ago at the MotoAmerica race at Laguna Seca. The most FUN I've had on a little bike like this since my used Yamaha 2stroke RZ350 back in the early 90's. That 450 ptwin is a banger of an engine, super fun to ride, and sounds great. CFMOTO are here to stay. They have a budget that the likes of HD (as just one example) could only dream about and this is without the Chinese government being involved (like the US equivalent does by increasing import tariffs). Living in Australia, we don’t have the level of import tariffs as we don’t have an industry (voters) to protect. Plus being closer to mainland China the price we get these bikes is about 66% of what you pay in America which makes them even more attractive. Reliability? They have been in business longer than some watching this have been living so that area gets a tick. I purchased one, just to try nearly a decade ago and was shocked at how good it was considering the price. If you have never tried one then you really don’t have anything to back up your negative comments with. 🤔

CFMOTO has 22 models available here in Australia & 12 of them meet the restrictions for the learner legal market. And when they started selling motorcycles here in 2012 all of their bikes were learner legal. Plus most of their R&D & model announcements has been focused on smaller capacity motorcycles. With the remaining 10 models being 4 x 700 series & 6 x 800 series motorcycles it's pretty clear that their strategy is to primarily go after the entry level market while offering a token range of aspirational bikes for the early adopters & those ready to upgrade. Their bigger bikes have stonking engines & are fun to ride, but do we really need 3 versions of the 700 CL-X, 2 of the 800NK & 4 variations of the 800MT? Other than to hit various price points & puff up the numbers in the range I think the answer is no.

As a 6'4" dude myself, and I'm assuming you're a quasi mature adult? A Tenere 700, and get some lowered foot pegs. Easy to ride, plenty of power. Even if you're never thinking of riding in the dirt, it's a raucous hooligan machine if you want it to be, it's tall and comfortable for us big guys, it has enough power so you won't "outgrow" it, but so predictable, linear and easy to use it's easy to learn on. Good suspension, tall riding position giving you an excellent view through traffic. Stock tires are excellent on the road, and it's proven reliable, maintains resale value like crazy, and has TONS of good crash protection available as it's an adv bike. Also, it's genuinely hard to stall as it tractors along at idle readily, making it much harder to have embarassing start/stop mishaps.

I wouldn't call it a beginner bike, you can say that about a 125cc and even then, there are racing categories with this class. I buy these kinds of bikes because they are nimble and easy to maneuver through traffic. I always shake my head, seeing the 1.000cc owners sitting at the end of the traffic jam, while I overtake them and move to the stop light to get a head start. Also, for such a low price, you won't shed a tear after you drop it.

The only CF Moto reliability issues I'm legit concerned with are regarding the models with the KTM LC8 parallel twin engines. Lots of owners of these engines in KTMs have complained about butter soft cams with insanely premature cam wear, even when following the service intervals. Since trading my KTM, I've just kinda stopped following those issues online...but given my own experience with KTM after-sale support I don't have much faith.

It sucks that the 450NK gets upcharged so hard in Canada. They start at $8300 before fees and taxes, which is the equivalent of around $6050 USD. We get plenty of other bikes from CFMoto and other manufacturers at parity or even a slight discount compared to the US, but I guess we can't win em all. Might even be an emissions thing, so who's to say why it's the way it is. Really awesome that such a great bike for beginners exists on the market either way!

Still irrelevant though. I know it's America, and things are different over there compared to here with the tiered license system here in Europe. CFMoto makes nice bikes, sure we get it. Decently priced to but still. The best beginner bike is one you feel comfortable on once you sat on it and rode it around for a bit whether it be on a test course, parking lot or on a public road. When I decided to get on motorcycles, I was above the age of 24 with about 10 years of owning a license to drive a car and driving for that amount time. So I got learned the insight in traffic, which also is a big factor you learn while or before getting on motorcycles. Since I was 24, I was able to get the highest tier of the license called A, so you can ride all cc's once you obtain the license. I had lessons on a CB650R, commonly used motorcycles here are SV650, Z650, MT07, CB650F back when they we're released. So middle weights perfectly fine to adjust to. So after taking the lessons on these, people sometimes, go to a lower cc bike cause that's all they need really and some of course go to bigger bikes. So there's no real trajectory here either. Just try and test them out, or do your research online for specs, on the bike like seat height, your measurements, reliability, costs, what kind of riding you want to do and so on.

Most used bikes are going for more than when they were new in my state. Combine a drop, plus three previous neglectful owners and you have a recipe for a bad time at a higher price. Most used bikes will already need tires, so even if you are saving say 500 dollars over new, you will lose that just by swapping tires and don't get me started on the cost of a valve adjustment that is likely overdue. At least in my state, buying new is the better option. If you live in a place like FL, TX, or CA you might be able to find a good used bike at a good price, but many other places might not be the case.
