Pro tip: If you have Angelfish, get floating plants. They love hunting for small critters inbetween the roots and if you use an auto feeder and the food drops on the floater leaves, the angelfish will learn to pull down the floating plants to get to the food. Ingenious little hunter-gatherers

I used to regularly go to a local cafe with 2 fairly well scaped tanks, one of which house several tetra species along with a small herd of adult Manacupuru Angels. And during one of those days I witnessed one of the Angels chomping on a cardinal, then proceed to spit it out and left it to wiggle around headless.

2:40 Absolutely correct Chris, there are a lot of different tetras that work fine with angel fish. For example, Lemon tetra or Black tetra are as big as Rummy Nose tetras, but have higher bodies, making them harder to swallow. I have had angels with Lemon tetras for years, the only thing that was a bit scetchy at the beginning was the tetras nipped a bit in the fins of the angels, but that stopped once I put in a bunch more of the tetras.

Yeah that angelfish isn’t being aggressive or territorial or cichlid. It’s just being a predator. In the wild, they eat small fish and invertebrates. And that guys right about however peaceful a fish is, it *will* eat anything that fits in its mouth. Goldfish, for example. Yeah killifish is what came to mind for me right away too! And that big, beautiful planted tank is such a dream ❤ That little catfish just *loving* that current! 😂 That little mating dance That snail! 🤣🤣 That furniture tank, I’d go with little dither fish like tetras or livebearers, not big ol koi. Would work and look so much better.

That drawing with the description of relatively small and a silver/grey color, that's almost certainly a Norman's Lamp-eye killifish, not a gardneri or golden wonder. They're almost big enough to be catching and moving to their parent schools now. Favorite livebearer currently is lyretail mollies... but that's because I'm biased since I got to get a rehomed pair and they are such lively little dudes, grazing at the bits of hair algae I was having issues with and being very chill neighbors with the panda corys and flame tetras in their big community tank. They're gorgeous! Hopefully they will have babies sometime soon.

I kept it in a tank with Boraras urophthalmoides like what i did with my male betta which they lived fine. One day i got back home from school to find the female betta that was just barely bigger than the rasbora attempting to eat it, however it had choked on the fish before i was able to do anything.
