Having had both an S2000 and an e36 M3, I can say from experience that the M3 is the better car. The S2000 is fun in its’ own right but if I had to choose, M3 all the way.
@6mtzhp554 жыл бұрын
Loved my E36, but was ready to move on (started requiring an absurd amount of work, even with lots of preventative maintenance) and after another BMW (E46 ZHP, was much more dependable despite higher miles), got an AP2 S2K. All great cars. On balance, the ZHP was the best overall (quick, comfortable, efficient in 6th gear, MTech II body kit), but the S2K is better than the S52 E36 M3 convertible or E46 ZHP convertible, and a droptop was what I was after. Oddly, the S2K reminds me most of my E30 iS, as far as build, weight and handling.

You bought an E36 to be different. I have a E36 as well. I'm in Europe its the complete opposite over here. E36's are by far the most common car you will see at any sort of drift event. That and E46, and older Volvos in Sweden. After that, various Nissans. If you had an S2000, a BRZ or a 350Z on the street you'd definetly be different.

VANOS actually turns off at the 5000rpm mark :D Its meant to provide better low-mid range torque. VANOS adjusts the intake camshaft angle...
@quidta17 жыл бұрын
And the outake if he got a S50B32 European M3 he got double VANOS. But i dont know which kind of M3 he got.
@android612427 жыл бұрын
"At lower engine speeds, the position of the camshaft is moved so the valves are opened later, as this improves idling quality and smooth power development. As the engine speed increases, the valves are opened earlier: this enhances torque, reduces fuel consumption and lowers emissions. At high engine speeds, the valves are opened later again, because this allows full power delivery."

Cool car. I bought a new one exactly like that bitd. Mine was just like yours-a Silver 2 door with the contour rims, sport seats and sunroof. I had a 240sx and was really happy to get something with the much better performance of the M3. At the time I was interested in a used NSX and checked out a few. I also looked at a new Integra type R. I'm happy that I went with the M3. They are much more torquey have a really solid planted feel in the corners. The brakes are really good too.

Great video I just subbed! I also had a similar buying experience but I ended up with an 94 E36 325i in Dakkar Yellow. I drove 240s, G35s, s2000, Miatas and other similar cars but I was looking for handling primarily over power. I drove an E36 M3 and loved it more than the others because of the sound, look and steering feel. Then I drove the car that I bought which is an OBD1 M50 325is m-pack and it was slightly less quick than the M3 but it was 8 grand cheaper! A few months later with a magnaflow exhaust and some coilovers it is my favourite car that ive ever owned and my daily!

Treats On The Streets I do own both. My m3 is a 95 with an s52 swap in and every bolt except cams or f/i. I agree the z interior is kinda cheap but my god the door panels and headliner have all deteriorated in the m3 from previous daily use. Now my 350z is an hr and it's wayyy faster than my m3 and it's stock. Drifting I gotta give the edge to the z cause it's way easier to handle past the limits than the m3 and m3 is was pretty easy to begin with. Both are greats cars both are reliable. I wouldn't trust either in the snow. 350z 07-08 needs wayyy less maintenance though

Had an E36 M3 and a 350Z. I feel a 350Z in stock form is a car you can just mash on everyday without care just as long as you keep an eye on oil levels. If the engine blows up you can get another VQ at the junkyard for about $650 and they’re a lot of them at junkyards. You can motor swap a VQ in one single day by yourself. The E36 I didn’t really wanna drift it cause I didn’t wanna risk hitting anything cause stock OEM E36 M3 parts are rare. And If the M3 engine gets damaged it’ll cost a lot more to replace or fix. The E36 is more rare and unique just like you explained. Just my two cents S2000 is rare but in my opinion is priced way too high for a 20 year old 4cyl. The BRZ is too common for the price they want. If any other these engines have problems it’ll cost a lot to replace/fix

0:38 - man, something is wrong with that wheel. Empty space on left side should be the same as on the right side of tire. I had that kind of issue after car accident and the reason was: bended (not straight) Wishbone Arm and stabilizer Sway Bar Swing Support. On the car they looked good, but when we took them out and puted on the floor to compare with new ones -then it was clear to see that they are bended.
@TreatsOnTheStreets6 жыл бұрын
It's caster. The front control arms have offset bushings that add caster. This makes the car more stable at speed, provides more feedback, and return to center faster on transitions.

After watching this video, I am also considering purchasing a E36 M3. I found one in really good shape and is owned by an enthusiast. Always garaged, paint is in great condition, no rip in leather. Water pump, radiator, hoses, thermostat replaced, new clutch, etc. Very well maintained. But the problem is it has 192K miles asking for 6500. What do you think? Any suggestions?
@TreatsOnTheStreets7 жыл бұрын
+Henry Li the price isn't bad if it's in good condition. It is high mileage, but a lot of e36's are and run forever. However, that doesn't mean you won't have any problems. If you don't mind the possibility of high mileage problems, then I'd say go for it. If you are thinking you'd rather have something a bit lower you can always hold out. Either way, an enthusiast owned car is always good because typically they take good care of cars and replace what needs to be replaced. Good luck! 👍

I’ve owned a frs and it was a ton of fun. I actually didn’t want more power till I got good at drifting it stock and found the areas that I needed more out of it. Always wanted a 350z and drove a few but I did own a 05 g35 coupe 6mt. That was a ton of fun and what I learned the basics of drifting. Also wanted a s2000 and drove a bunch of them but the price never dropped to a point I was comfortable buying one. I’ve debated numerous times on a e36 m3 and talked myself out of it every time. I will say I did drive one and was a bit let down but I still would have gotten one. I own a 2011 328i that I feel like it’s a similar motor but without the vanos system and I actually think it feels faster. I could be wrong but I was more shocked by the power delivery of my e90 than the e36. I do want a e36 328i for a drift car though but I also own a sr swapped s13 that’s my gem. But I may change my mind at some point and just drift that. I love it too much to think about beating it up as of now. Great video though. Sorry for the long winded comment.

The S2000 is by far the best car I've ever owned. it handles better than almost anything I've owned or driven, it's super reliable, and can make a lot of power. it doesn't have alk the creature comforts because its meant to be a drivers car and remain light and bare bones. it offers a true race car like driving experience. Nice! I've seen one for sale and the owner wanted 24k!!! like wtf!? I really want one though... it's really hard to choose between a convertible or coupe

Im from Roy, live in Ogden now. Been working in the BDO for the last 8 years. It was somewhat hard to see out the window into the background of the video, but the "water tower" symbol on top the buildings is which gave it away for me. Once i saw pineview at the end of the video i was sure i was right lol.

Any differences between the 1995 and 1999
@TreatsOnTheStreets6 жыл бұрын
Yes. The engine went from a 3.0 to a 3.2, and the 1996+ are OBD2 while the 95 is OBD1 just to name a few main differences.
@kduran7446 жыл бұрын
Dang that is kind of a bummer. I am 16 my dad gave me his 2007 Camry SE, its an okay car, but its a FWD and it doesnt go really fast. I was looking at cars too buy and the E36 is one of the best looking cars in my opinion i just really like the way it looks. So im going to sell the Camry and use that money for a 95 e36 because thats the only one that i could find in good shape.

E36 m3 has the most dated exterior and interior of all your choices. 350z interior may have plastic interior but it's far nicer looking than e36. E36 us spec motor is also crap. I've owned 350z and currently own e46 m3 btw.
@TreatsOnTheStreets7 жыл бұрын
+Juan Esteban to each their own brother. I can definitely see what you mean though. I honestly would take an e36 over an e46 knowing that the e46 is the better car to most people. I just really like the e36. 👍

The US M3 sucks in comparison just a fact. The Euro M3 is phenomenal to drive. The difference between a US and Euro M3 is like the difference between a 328i and US M3 in my opinion.
@TreatsOnTheStreets7 жыл бұрын
+alfaholic3 it definitely doesn't have a lot of the goodies the Euro spec has, but it's still a really fun car to drive!
@alfaholic37 жыл бұрын
Treats On The Streets, Yeah even the 318i is awesome but 240hp vs 321hp is more than a few goodies. I think of the US M3 as more of a 330i with an M sports pack. In Europe they got 6 speed too but the US spec M3 is still a sweet car, even if it's kind of a middle finger from BMW.

I've driven both an e36 328is and an M3. Both were awesome cars and great fun to drive. Actually I purchased a 328is and after driving it for a while it was so good that I convinced myself that the power monster e39 M5 that I owned just wasn't fun any more. The fact that I had to work the transmission to go quick was just amazing and the sound of the e36s is just on a different level. Don't get me wrong, the more powerful cars are great fun, but daily driving them gets old because you cant use 50% of the power most of the time. Surprisingly I didn't replace the M5 with an e36 M3, instead I purchased a highly modified 2013 Mini S. However when the maintenance plan runs out on the Mini I will be purchasing an e36 M3 to replace it.

@TreatsOnTheStreets7 жыл бұрын

your are insane - by friends BRZ is garbage compared to my E36 BMW - your alignment, caster, camber in particular, or tires are wrong or possibly your suspension components are worn out - thank you for modding your e36 M3 - it makes my bone stock '98 black on black coupe with 48K miles that much more valuable........hint, when the time warrants - go to the dealership or Turners for your parts, and return it to completely stock - you'll be glad you did....
@TreatsOnTheStreets5 жыл бұрын
I can appreciate a very clean and mostly stock car of anything, especially older vehicles. I bought this one as a solid base to build it into what I want in a driver's car. Not even close to done modifying! 🤣. Never going to sell it either so I couldn't care less about resale value although owning something of value is attractive.

Jim Wong a eu-spec 3,2l Sedan will still rape them on a track.. easier to mod?yeah right .. u can't do shit with stock vq's .. maybe software n intake but that's it lol and if you try to boost them make sure to get new rods.. otherwise they'll blew themselves in a million pieces .. S50's hell even M50's will handle boost really good up to 600hp also z's/G's are quite heavy ..
