Lee analyzed his own game on his KZbin channel in Korean. According to his channel he knew that Rde1 is not good move and Nc6 was the only good move for white. So he only studied the lines after Nc6 (before Rde1, the position was in his opening preparation). This is why he does not spend any time before castling. And after castling and some forcing moves, he realized that castling is huge blunder. This is why he spent more than 1 hour for one move.

BTW, "olympiad" is the period between the games. The actual games are called, well, "olympic games".

What many may not know is that Christiansen some years ago got incredibly I'll and ever since has to be a lot more selective with the events he joins as he doesn't have the stamina like he once had. Which makes some of his wild games these days even more impressive

assuming the clock times are correct this was a horrible time usage by hyeok, he only used 8 minutes before castling even though he was up almost an hour on the clock and after christiansen sacrificed his queen he uses 1 hour (!) realizing he is much worse

It's ironic how the quote up in the video says "help your pieces", when all Johan did was literally the opposite, sacrificing them, move after move. This is Tal-esque, simply beautiful.

Did he really calculate all of that before playing Qxe7 you think? Or he knew the line beforehand? (Even though the position had been never been reached). I guess, third possibility, he calculated some of it and it ‘felt’ right based on intuition

I really wish the brilliant "Tal" move could've been Ne5!!, the exact notation for the move that Lee Jun Hyeok missed. Already, both moves hang your knight to a pawn.

1:52 I will admit that I had to put the first few moves into the engine to discover WHY 8. ... Qxb2 blunders the Queen. Turns out 9. Na4 traps it, and yes, I should have seen that without help.

7:46 why not bishop takes on f6? Taking back with the knight blunders the queen, taking back with the pawn hangs the rook, so black takes the queen, and white gets 3 pieces (bishop, knight and rook) for it.
