Dave, the NASCAR restart zone is the blue painted area that has GEICO markings on it prior to the starting line. Leader has control and can fire off anywhere in that zone. If they don't fire off within the zone, the green flag flies..
@garygreenlee7 ай бұрын
Each track has it in different places, but they are just prior to the line.. I will tweet a few examples to you.

As a fellow road racer to oval convert I’ve been really enjoying these videos. Quick tip - In Racelab try the blind spot monitor for oval racing. Really helps a lot to know when you have cleared a car. Some people like the radar as an alternative.

Hey Dave, Glad you are having fun with ovals. Couple of tips for you in future races. 1. You can pre select gears on an h pattern in iRacing. This will prevent you from ever missing a shift and all you have to do is just blip and itll just fall into gear. 2. Michigan is actually progressively banked, the bottom lane has much less banking than the rest of the track. So make sure to run the second lane and not split the two unless you are understeering/tight.

Trucks have been a caution fest all week. Nice job keeping it clean with all the crazies in C Class. Ready to see you in some oval cars this new season! Your last lap was the line I ran all week at Michigan. High groove on turns 1 and 3, finishing on the low line out of turns 2 and 4. Was consistently running 39.7ish laps. Not always possible with all the traffic but that was definitely the line I found the fastest.

"where's the restart zone?" at most of the tracks its called "GEICO restart zone" :) and for a reason. inside on the grass, outside on the wall there are huge GEICO advertisements :)

your getting better bud.. one thing that'll help you. being only a 30 lap race it wont help much here.. but in longer races, learn to trail brake more on entry you need to get thatweight to shift off the right front.then time you throttle as you come off the trail brake.. if you do it right you feel it get slightly loose. Thats when you know the weight shifted. shift from the right front to the right rear.. when you checked tire wear on that first pit stop that 2% difference between RF and RR is a very good indicator that your RF is gonna be a problem over a longer run. with this new truck build we just got you just dont have the down force on the front that we once had. so getting that weight off the right front is critical. you almost have to drive these things like you would drive the ARCA car.. learn to manipulate the dynamic cross weight with trail braking and throttle timing you learn that, you'll be killer in fixed trucks.

Emily is an excellent player. Sometimes I go to her channel to watch one of her races again, where she gave a show of fantastic driving. The Montreal circuit a few years ago. At the second corner, some idiot threw her off the track and she fell to last place. She rode like an angry witch. If the race had lasted several minutes longer, she would have fought for the podium.

I drove trucks for the first time last night in a practice at charlotte, and the thing nearly blew my eardrums out, but I loved it lol people crash like crazy but I got the hang of it after a few laps and ran about 30 before pitting. Might have to work towards oval racing, its a bit more enjoyable than the mazda. The only thing I dont like is how it feels like ice skating while driving down straights

👍 Nice work on editing these races. You make the race flow well by taking a minute to show what caused the yellow 🟡. 1) which built-in spotter are you using? 2) do you mind showing your frame rate through some of these races? Thanks Dave.

Thank you 😁 I am using the JJ Spotter Pack for my oval races. I am on a 120hz display using G Sync so it's pretty much locked at a buttery smooth 116 FPS. Without G Sync it'd be double at least but not as smooth 👍

Nice job! If you are using any of the sifting aids, turn them off. It seems your starts are slower than those around you and I've seen in the past where that was due to a driver having a shift aid on. I can't remember what they're called though. 👍

Oval racing usually is great racing and the cautions actually cause strategy or time for adjustments. Can’t wait for you to try the gen4 or xfinity. The cup cars are kinda lame now but still fun. In my league we had some pro drivers and always told me to get into corner so you drive off the right rear instead of wearing out the right front. Still haven’t figured that out lol. Oval definitely isn’t as easy as everyone thinks. Well let me correct myself. It isn’t as easy to beat the fast guys.

@bfountaine7 ай бұрын
On that last restart, you would have benefited from pushing the guy in front of you, so you both go faster. Lifting and checking up for him slowed your momentum down. Also, you drove too deep on that last entry into turn one. Had you just backed up the corner more, you would have had a great run down the back stretch, especially with his draft. All in all great race though!!
