It is one of the best colleges for Indians in all of America. And Chicago is one of the best cities in the world, it is the 3rd biggest city in all of America. My graduate program costed about USD $10,000 per semester. I was able to find job for graduate students the past 1 year 3 months and that too paid at the standard graduate rate of USD $26.43 per hour. We have one of the biggest amount of Indian students of any college in America, more than 15%, who study in all courses. What exactly is GH that he was referring to? Is it hourly rate for assistantships or on-campus jobs? I have some kind of confusion here. On an avg colleges pay 10-15$ for on campus jobs. So 26 seems to be way out of the league. Some clarification regarding this will be helpful since I have an admit from UIC.
@YudiJ2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s called graduate hourly jobs which are more like a desk jobs instead of cafeteria jobs etc.
@rohandesai2892 жыл бұрын
GH jobs are basically the same as TA/GA, but the thing is that you don't get any tuition fee waivers, you just get the stipend. So a TA/GA is eligible for 80% tuition fee waiver + a stipend of $26-27/hr, but if you're working as a GH then you only get the stipend.

University doesn't matter much for technical fields. Generally, non-technical fields are not recommended. If you know something like Java, Networking, or Information Security, getting a job is incredibly easy. The business-related fields like marketing, data science, and analytics, usually suffer a lot while finding jobs. I have even seen product managers have an easier time finding jobs and many business analytics grads having to take product management roles. Moreover for non-stem courses its very hard to pay off your loan since there's no stem extension, fees are high, and it's hard to find a job.

Will cost matter (or) sharing a room with other people matter (or) Companies around will matter ? Will spending 25 lakhs besides having tuition waiver regrets me in long term while repaying loan? Please answer my question as deadline for these are approaching Regards, Rama Reddy.
