My full-ingrained Headcanon is that the Games just lack a Feature that explains why Mono-Type-Trainers are not just a Thing but a common thing. Its apparent if you think about the poke-world but never clearly said out loud, but it seems theres Perks to being Mono-Type. Supernatural Perks.

Maybe try Whimsicott with sunny day and eject button, and have weather ball Venusaur on the team. That way you have a better steel match up. I play vgc not singles, so idk how it would work out, but I think it'd be a really fun idea! Also Venusaur is my favorite mon, so I'd love to see him haha 😄.

Great video, two thoughts on why you lost to the electric team. 1. That electric team had more grass resists than usual. Bulky Zapdos, dracozolt, and magnezone wore down your offense. 2. You tried to sacrifice Rillaboom too early with the high horse power play against Zapdos. It's a testament to the Pokemon how much health it managed to get back by late game. Depending on damage calcs on Dracozolt, that heat wave might have been the chip damage needed to neutralize your otherwise late game threat. Overall, I think you show how the worse aspects of mono grass isn't the defensive typing, but the lack of quality offensive grass types in the meta. Sure you have hazzards, but you have little incentive for HO team with coverage to back off so you can rack damage other than Rillaboom and Zarude to a lesser degree. And you can't afford to bring in more offensive because you need the defensive core of fairy, steel, and rock to handle the numerous weaknesses.

Mono psychic, there's so much stuff you can do like bulky TR (reuniclus), stored power stuff with swoobat, or hyperoffense with medicham + Espeon, and you've got starmie or a dual screener for support

Cradily is actually amazing in mono grass. Rock covers 4 of the grass type's weaknesses, Fire, Flying, Bug, and Ice. And the 5th weakness, Poison, can easily be dealt with by Earthquake or High Horsepower

I tried mono grass recently and it’s honestly hard to win with, at least for me. I just started playing mono type and I’m pretty noob to the competitive side too. Been having success with fire and ice mostly (only ones I’ve tried besides grass) went on a good run with fire of 9-2 the other day

Cradily is slow, so you're probably aren't taking advantage of rock slide flinches. Reliably breaking focus sashes and substitutes seems more likely and valuable imo. Plus it's a stronger move on average.

@@sedricgranger I assume it's banned because it would be too much for Steel-type teams. It's already one of if not the best monotype types with a large monopoly over the OU 'mons such as Excadrill, Ferrothorn, Melmetal, Heatran, Bisharp, Skarmory, Corviknight, etc. If I'm not mistaken, it would be considered a “complex ban,” which Smogon hates, to ban Kartana from Steel-type teams but not Grass-type teams even though it's perfectly balanced on the latter. I'm pretty sure it's the same reason they banned Magearna (and it was before the OU ban) and Genesect despite them being pretty balanced on Fairy and Bug teams, respectively and why they'll likely keep Zamazenta banned from monotype if it gets unbanned from OU.

Gen 3: No grass Specialist Gen 4: Gardenia uses combat boots, shorts and a poncho/cape hybrid over a long sleeve crop top Gen 5: Cilan is literally a waiter.
