Rigging essentially refers to hanging, or suspending with wires. In animation, the rigging is "hanging" the model from the frame, so as the frame moves, so does the model. In construction,, you usually have two people working on a crane: the operator up in the cab, and the rigger down on the ground. The rigger acts as an extra pair of eyes for helping the operator properly place his cable, and for "rigging" or hooking up the chains to the rig attached to the end of the crane cable so objects may be "flown". At my last site, our crane rigger was black. Often times, we (the general contractors) had to ask/tell them to lift things for us. My boss always tried to convince me it would be much more effective, rather than walking over and having a quiet conversation with him where he is working, to shout "HEY RIGGER!" at the top of my lungs and wave him up to our office. Needless to say, I never found such instructions to be actionable. 🤣

The model is just a picture until you make a rig (system of bones and physics) and attach it to the model so that it moves the way you want. Usually rigging is both making and attaching the rig, but sometimes rigging is just making the rig and skinning is attaching it to the model. Also, it's also important to note that rigging is pretty much the hardest step of the entire model creation process in my experience.

Riggers and "That word" being compared holy hell, one is for vtubers and one is a racial slur. Thinking they're the same is stupid asf, because one has a long history of being a racial slur and the other is a job. And the word rigger isn't even a slur, why would you think it is, because it rhymes with "that word", then do you think the word "Naega" from the Korean dialect should be not said because it rhymes with that word. Just having words rhyme with that word doesn't mean anything, knowing the origin and meaning of it is a better doing than having a stupid asf outrage which will just disappear in a month because you're going to delete your acc . Riggers has been a term in media since skeletal system and forward or inverse kinematics were first introduced, and it's a care over from other professions. Set rigging, light rigging, etc. The best way to deal with these people is to mute them. By all means, talk about them, but if you want it to stop don't talk TO them.
