Wow. Romania looks like one of the most beautiful countries you have ever visited. I especially love (as always) the clips where you're driving through towns or the country side, always with your awesome background music. Those clips give me such a good feel for the place. And I am so often surprised at just how "touristy" so many destinations are, but Romania seems to be an exception to that. Which makes me want to go there even more. As usual, thank you Gabe so much for your hard work, so many of us get to see our beautiful world through your eyes. You are simply the best. Stay safe.

Greetings from another enchanted Romanophile like yourself! I have spent a lot of time in Romania, living there for years back in the nineties. My main, or initial connection with Romania was through the PAN FLUTE, which is not from South America, but is a traditional indigenous folk instrument of Romania, with Gheorghe Zamfir, the King of the Pan Flute, being Romanian, from the small town of Gaiesti, in fact. The Romanian name for the Pan Flute is NAI, and hence my KZbin name, Nai Man. I like to see you exploring all the hidden wonders of Romania, wide eyed and awestruck, like I have been, using your knowledge of Latin and learning Romanian along the way. If you want to explore further, I can introduce you to a Romanian friend of mine who has been most helpful and friendly to me - but that's the spirit of the Romanian people, who are, above all, open, friendly and warm hearted Latins. Bine ati venit la Romania!

👋Hi there Gabriel, As a traveller myself, I so appreciate you & all you do, specifically in showcasing underrated, often unnoticed & unappreciated countries, to the greater world. Here's the thing, the media so often portrays certain countries, as being totally "bad, dangerous, unsafe & off limits" but in truth, such statements are almost always untrue. And when we visit such countries ourselves, we then see a very different reality/truth. Romania's a good point in case. Not too much is known about this hidden gem & it's not talked about enough & if it is, some negative & naive comments may be expressed. I've visited Romania 2 times now & I am due to revisit in the very near future. I love Romania & always have & each time I visit, Romania continually surprises me & in a very good way! There's always something new & very historic to be utterly surprised by, around every twist & turn. IMPO, I think that this makes for an even better & more exciting travel adventure! I felt very welcomed there & in a strange way, I felt more like extended family, than I did just the mere traveller or visitor. Such is the warm & hospitable welcome, received from many Romanians. I found that the farther out I ventured, the more traditional the way of life & the warmer the welcome/reception. I love the fact that this country in many ways, has withstood too much modernisation & has amazingly held onto it's raw & beautiful old fashioned customs & culture. It has managed to maintain, a simple way of living & we don't see this very much anywhere anymore, so it's really refreshing to witness. And I do hope/pray that this never changes, as this is truly the best part about Romania. I will say however, that Bucharest being the capital city & largest city within Romania, is more so modernised & offers everything to it's visitors, but still retains much old fashioned charm, in both it's wonderful architecture & it's long standing & rich culture. The people are so friendly & wonderful, their culture amazing, the architecture so lovely & unique, the scenery so stunningly mountainous, so verdant & beautiful, the food really delicious & hearty & I could go on & on. I have now watched this episode approx 4 times over, as I enjoy it that much & I'm sure I'll be watching again & again in the very near future. Thanks for sharing your awesome journeys with we viewers & I wish you many more years of wonderful travel. Peace✌

Hi Gabriel, what a day of discovering the cave and monastery which are part of the Romanian Orthodox Church which is much like the Greek Orthodox Church or even the Russian Orthodox Church wearing black robes. The Carpathians mountains are strongholds for large carnivores in Europe harboring around 3,500 grey wolves, 2,400 Eurasian lynx, and more than 8,000 brown bears. No signs anywhere of possible danger you can tell, not a tourist spot, these areas seem more like something for the locals.

I am really glad you came back and decided to visit more. You need to check out the Romanian region of Moldova next time. City of Iasi and Piatra Neamt are some of the must see places. Piatra Neamt had a roman ancient site (Petro Dava) and a middle ages fortification (Cetatea Neamt). In Iasi you find a blend of communist and late 19th century architecture. There is also one of the biggest museums - Palatul Culturii (Palace of culture). In Iasi there is a large international airport with good connections to most of Europe and Turkey.

The video at 15:00 refers to the initials IC XC NI KA on the cross used in Eastern Orthodox Christianity. It is a transliteration of the Greek phrase "Ιησούς Χριστός νικά", which means "Jesus Christ conquers" or "Jesus Christ is victorious". The first two letters, "IC", represent the Greek word for Jesus, while "XC" represents the Greek letters for Christ. "NI" represents the Greek word for conquers or is victorious, and "KA" is a suffix that is often added for emphasis.

30:03 If that wasn't a one-way road, how would you go pass a car moving in the opposite direction? Would someone need to drive backwards a hundred meters or so?
@GabrielTravelerVideos Жыл бұрын
Yes. It's common to have narrow roads in this part of the world. You hope you don't come across another car in the wrong place, but if you do then you figure it out. Sometimes you can pass each other by driving slightly off the road, otherwise someone has to back up.

Hi Gabriel, you have been to the holy places of Orthodoxy Horezu and Aronta. At the same time, those places are holy for the Romanians because the Romanian kings come from here Basarab and Brâncoveanu. Matei Basarab is buried in the Aronta monastery. There are other holy places in the region of Moldova - Bogdana Monastery (1359-1365) in Suceava where the first five Moldavian kings are buried also the Putna Monastery where the great Moldavian king Stephen the Great is buried.
