Anyone who is competing that weekend doesn't attend the opening ceremony, i mean did anyone see any horses on those boats, nope they had dressage the next day! 😂😂 Those Trial Horses are the true athletes, the have Dance day 1, Run and jump at full speed for 9 miles Day 2, then Day 3 Get into a ring and show off more jumping skills. You tell me what human can do that without hurting themselves. Each horse out there deserves their name in lights, and a banner hung in their honor, if you have never watched Equestrian at the Olympics I suggest you turn on Peacock and watch the Cross Country part. Plus they even talk about horses coming weeks early so they don't have jet lag! True Olympic heroes in my book!

This happens literally every opening cerimomies for USA gymnasts...they always skip it to rest because there is so much waiting around which isnt good for the athletes.

Actually they don’t attend opening ceremonies because the men have qualifications the next day and women the day after that. Gymnasts from all countries NEVER attend opening ceremonies because the competition starts so soon! It has absolutely NOTHING to do with being on your feet for 9 hours or waiting around or the weather. Get your friggen facts straight!!

@KevaFlores some gymnasts do attend from other countries, it depends on their federation and/or the gymnast. But the US gymnasts are pretty famous for not attending every year for those that follow the sport.
