@@thephotoandthestory I met my husband when he was hired at the school I worked at. We hit it off, and eventually (8 months later) he asked me out. We dated secretly for awhile because we were colleagues (and worked at a school). Our first pre-date was simply going to a trail to walk my dog (and the dog I was fostering). Then our first real date was a home-cooked meal at his apartment (small community and going "out" anywhere would have created gossip). By our third date we were in love. That was 9 years, one wedding, and two children ago! We only get to go out on a "date" maybe 2 or 3 times a year in this season of life. But every evening, after our children are asleep, we talk and laugh while doing our nightly chores (and sometimes bicker). Life is complicated enough, and marriage and parenthood comes with enough of their own challenges - why would anyone want a partner that is high-maintenance and uncooperative?! It sounds like a complete nightmare.

Try this solution? There is an implied duty of the person who implies asking a question or interrogatory to listen with the goal of understanding. Most women fail at this because they ask questions for a different reason. They do not care about your answer they just want control. There are four types of sentences in the English language. The Interrogatory is a demand for action, but has no obvious requirement for her to actually LISTEN.or understand the answer. I predict she will resolve this by keeping you responding to more and more questions for ultimate "triumph". Once you teach her your understanding of these questions, if she continues I would be ambivalent, obtuse and ignore her. This is what you do to control children who play the same game. Someday she might grow up to be an adult? One attitude ALL women hate is being ignored! They can NEVER control you when you are ambivalent. Men who are successful getting the attention of women use this same ploy. Ignore her and they will follow. I don't know why, but I speculate they like a challenge to control men. I'll never know because I do not care. There are plenty of them keeping me "busy".

The proper dating technique: Create plans for a definite date and general time (eg. Sunday afternoon) a few days or a week before. This lets the person get excited about the date, show you off to their friends, and generally give them something to look forward to during the week. Touch base at least 16 hours before the date (6 pm Saturday for a noon Sunday date). This is to confirm the date when women are most flaky early on, and lets you judge their interest and how to approach the date, romantic, unserious, etc. Set a definite time and location. Women do not like making decisions so even if you are traveling to them, pick a restaurant local to them that has great reviews, and make a reservation. Do not text again! Meet them inside the location exactly on time! You want them to have tiny expectant butterflies.

No, the woman expected the man to act like a damn man. They're both in the wrong here, as is Courtney. Man waited a week to even text her and all he can muster up is a few words? Everything that guy texted was 2-3 words. Loser with no communication skills. And he does basically ask her to plan the date = weak. Women don't respect that. You don't get the kind of woman you people expect by asking her everything she wants because she'll think you're a bitch and find a real man. Real men make the date, make sure the time works, and tells her where to be if he's not picking her up. She wants a dominant man and she found a beta. Once you're in a relationship or past the initial dating stage, then you can ask her what she's in the mood for. Both of those people suck and neither can communicate well.

I believe a little bit of humbleness on each side (he and she, men and women), an open attitude to clarify things ("The Dutch" misunderstanding), and a lesser attitude of jumping to conclusions/rejection would be constructive - giving the fact that the first date was appreciated as nice. Of course, if there are gut feelings that something is not right, rejection is a survival necessary thing, but this wasn't the case. Your kind approach of both parts is filled with calm, equilibrium, sincerity, and charm, thank you.

I hope her matchmaker watches this and feels 100% confident in her career path. That matchmaker has a gift! I'm the type of woman to overcommunicate plans. I'll always ask my boyfriend to clarify in case I misunderstood because the times I assumed I knew he what he was talking about, I ended up at the wrong Chick Fil A or late for church because I thought he was coming to my house first lol 🤣 I can't believe she gives the guy options for a restaurant, he picks the restaurant, and then she just leaves him on read! After only 1 date, he's obviously not going to try to put too much effort in at once above basic manners, but she couldn't have the simple decency to respond with: "Sounds great! What time?" that's how planning works! And sorry, but if that first date really went that well to where she was excited about it, she does know she has the ability to ask him out too, right? My boyfriend and i - after our first date and after he messaged me the next morning, I just went straight on in to "would you like to meet again this week?" and we've been together now for 14 months. Like obviously, don't start picking out your wedding dress or sleeping together, but the games of "he needs to do x, y, and z" kind of become moot after you both realize you really like each other.

Courtney is so surprised but being in that guy’s position is 90% of dating for men. The other 10% is girl flaking, not over her ex, using you for validation, or worst of all, thinking things went well after a first date only to get ghosted. Another tip: *Call on the phone*. Voices carry 100x more information than texts, and get instant feedback with 100x more. There'd have been no misunderstanding about the second date if they'd talked. The "call" button is right there next to the "text" button. I've seen countless misunderstandings about texts leading to fights and worse that would never have occurred if someone had bothered to hit the "call" button instead. The two of them actually could have had a pleasant conversation they both enjoyed while planning the second date. I've been on dating apps for about a year. The exchanges I've had with women mirror the above very closely, but the typical exchange begins with a woman matching with me (I don't match with them), continues with me writing to them (if they meet my criteria), and ends there - no comment, no acknowledgement, no sign that I'm dealing with anything other than a bot. I've spoken to some female friends of mine and they're adamant these women do exist. They're just looking for validation from random men whom they never plan to meet. Imagine being so painfully insecure that you feel compelled to reach out to complete strangers to gain their attention. Then ask yourself this: why would you do this and not actually meet up? I'll tell you why: these women are *already in relationships* and are using the dating apps to keep their options permanently open. They have no honour, no integrity, and no future with a self-respecting man.

She doesn’t believe in her ability to communicate nor is she aware that ghosting is immature and can be harmful. The best thing is to take things slow and focus on yourself.

Ugh yes. I honestly hate text these days. There's way too much room to misinterpret words, tone, lacks any emotional depth. Whatever thoughts/ feels the receiver gets is just what they project onto the screen. You can cover so much more ground & make a better connection over a 15 min call compared to an entire day consumed with distracted texting.

Communicating online suits women better than it probably suits guys. Not man bashing here but I always found I could be bullied a little bit in person. I know you say you get the body language but guys will often hear what they want to hear and I struggled with guys who were pushy and with saying no. That's obviously on me, but it's a big reason why a lot of us prefer chatting online. We have more control of the situation and there's more time to respond. Again I think free flowing conversation probably suits guys better, but women have to be a bit more careful what we say, especially in the early stages, so as not to give off the wrong signals and things. So having that time to check the response is better as well and causes less miscommunication in the long term. But yeah, always a danger of misunderstanding when texting.

@@MySimDied You are truly delusional. When you are online you give away all your female power. Your personal presence, in front of a man, is more powerful than anything you can say in a text message. Men are hard wired to respond to your physical presence. Why give away any advantage you have?

The guy is obviously very experienced with flaky women; he (as do all men eventually) confirmed the date the previous day, and when she was ambivalent he tried one more time, then didn't worry about it anymore after a carefully neutral "ok cool" final text. An "ok cool" text can be interpreted in any way she wants to. I do think so many things can go wrong on a 2nd date with ambivalent women, and that's actually a good thing. If she's not moving heaven and earth to get a second date with you, then you can't outspend and out-entertain your way into her interest.

This is the problem with dating and relationships today. To rely on text messages to plan a date is absurd. Why not pick up the phone and call someone, have a conversation with them and get it sorted out? It’s insane to go back and forth with these asinine text messages which usually are misunderstood or misinterpreted. People need to be able to pick up the phone and talk with each other. Texts don’t work communication as well as a back and forth conversation. If you don’t have time to have a brief conversation then how are you ever going to have a relationship?

Some people love spontaneity, this is also allowed. I'm married 20 years too, my wife and I may plan to go downtown to a cafe we love, we didn't make reservations and if they are closed when we arrive, we do something else. It works for us. I mean we found that cafe by wondering around, and probably showing up too late for a concert anyway.

I agree with your last statement: his flexibility and interest in discovering her desires/needs is how he plans, I'm guessing. Maybe he doesn't worry about being "sexy" or being seen as "in control" on a first date. Maybe he knows way too many guys who NEED to be in control and then their partners end up wondering how they ended up in an abusive relationship with a narcissist or worse... and he doesn't want to be like that. Our society tries to train all men to be bosses and it's amazing to me that so many women seem to fall for this type, only to complain later how bossy the guy is! But yeah, clear communication is what it's all about!!

There's fault enough to go around for everyone, but in this specific scenario, the man is wrong at every turn, from his pathetic 3 word texts, to waiting a week to message, to screwing up how to be courteous and still plan the date himself. This is why I hate texting. It's too easy to read into a text message. One word can get the other person triggered, especially if that person always assumes the worst in people. I understand that people are busy and can't talk on the phone all the time, but taking the time to talk can immediately squash out any misunderstandings and assumptions.
