Im pretty sure Valefar once wanted me to prank one of my followers. He wanted me to make a poop dish and feed it to him. Me being new to the game i made a deadly dish and fed it to my follower. After seeing the quest wasnt completed i did another one but my FIRST follower ate it. So i made another one. And he finally ate it and the quest still wasnt complete. Then i checked my recipes and found "Bowl of Poop". Almost killed 2 of my followers.

There is dish that has a 100% percent chance to stop someone from desenting. Also prisons are very cheap. But i have used it on an old follower once or twice while my rituals were on cool down

This is more or less for when it's early game you don't have the prison unlocked and you didn't get the murder doctrine

But by the time you get a dissenter that is qn actual problem, you usually have over the 12 followers requirement for getting the beetroots for the dish. You don't even need to get that far into the cradle, either. You can buy the seeds. The rest is Tuna and Meat, both of which are easily accessible.

Just use brainwash and you don't have to worry about dissenters at all. There will be one or two follower quest with dissenters who want to join but that's all.

Honestly, I never even find myself having dissenters at all unless I accept a quest to recruit some, and when I obtain that one character who is scripted to dissent when you get them. But that might be partially because I play on easy mode so that the combat isn't frustrating as all hell. Seriously, I tried out normal difficulty and died to freaking Valefar, the second miniboss, multiple times. It's not very balanced.
