Exactly, I’m not a miracle worker by any means and don’t mean to act like it, but man it is sad how so many online doomers and rage baiters genuinely want us to believe our entire world is doomed and everyone is this boogeyman out to get us all, and while I won’t deny that there are a lot of places with genuine problems that do need to be addressed and fixed, the vast majority of people just mind their business no matter what is going on, literally turning off social media and ignoring chronically online doomers preaching that we’re all dead and society is on fire because of a few bad apples or actions of groups in small cities and just living your life realizing that 99% of people are just living theirs too is the best thing anyone can do. And I live in the USA and have live in a variety of places, this is the most picked place in all of internet, while no one is perfect, most people here just mind their business and live life despite what people say, I’ve lived through the 2000s, 2010s, 2020s, and I see nothing that the internet says has happened sure, small groups of people who overreact and riots and protests, hey- no place is perfect, but for the most part, people are just trying to live, it’s all just the internet nonsense, and we really shouldn’t let the internet or reactionaries on KZbin or the news ruin our lives just because they refuse to leave social media.

While I agree with your sentiment I don't think it would actually work. You would teach the 9 year olds that all media is bad and is doing X,Y and Z to get you clicking to make money. They would then go home and some of them would have parents who would happily let them doomscroll on their phones all evening and all they would see is the same stuff you have tired warning them about and that would be all they have for entertainment. Unfortunately in a world where "information" whether real or fake is so readily available you never know what is the bulljive and what is the actual facts. I even had this problem when looking to vote for Brexit, their was soooooo much misinformation from both sides that in the end I ran out of time to vote as I was trying to form my opinion, the mountain of information made me abstain from voting as in my head I couldnt make an informed opinion on a decision that would have massive ramifications in my life.....Of course hindsight being the all seeing master I would have voted remain if the vote happened again.

Howard has got it semi right, here, and a pat on the back is deserved. Of course he will not see how his half-woke philosophy is part of the scam, but its a good start! Leninism was a horrible, failed idea in the end, of course, but what Leninism and ex-Leninist cultures tend to be much more aware of than Western cultures is that it is not this race vs that race or this gender vs that gender or even this income bracket vs that income bracket which is important. That is a scam when you have two people with 99 percent the same lifestyle but one has a touch more melanin in their skin or some other trivia. The trick is always to paint one group as 'perfectly privilaged' and to paint another group as 'the perfect victim'. Woke (George Soros funded if you want to get some eyes rolling, but it doesn't mean he isn't a real guy who actually does bad things, unless your moral compass is set to 'off' ) and Murdoch Media, on the other end of the spectrum, both play with this concept. The un PC truth is, if you study ALL of history, there never was a 'perfect victim' or a 'perfectly privaliged group'. India had 17 empires, the Arabs were the most violent when the had the best science, the Mongols took over half the world when they had the best military, ancient Egypt was a marvel but was brutal and immense in the scope of its slavery etc etc etc. Really ALL humans need to grow in their capacity to do impressive things and to get along but the 'oligarchical class' will constantly paint this 'perfect victim/perfectly privileged' narrative in order to divide us. Without this, so many issues would become FAR simpler. Do the research, the scam runs very deep on both left and right. Is this oligarchical class who pretend to be left or right but mostly just want division shape shifting lizards who want to create a New World Order around the World Economic Forum model of governance? Children don't tend to read news articles. I'd say this needs to be sent out to everyone over the age of 40. Because they're the ones our government pander to. News channels also contain a lot of programming that is _not_ news, and a lot of people seem unable to separate the two. When looking at "just the news" that are being reported by media, they seem to be overall fairly decent to me. But you have to be able to identify the news from opinions. It doesn't help that some news channels barely contain anything other than opinion shows. A lot of people also seem to selectively not hear qualifiers. "It has been reported that.....we have not been able to confirm this from independent sources," is very different from "this is what happened," yet social media tends to respond as if the latter was the message. "Skeptical thinking" really needs to be a big topic in schools. We need to train people in the ability to filter information. It's more demanding to do so, as opposed to blindly latching on to a statement, but if trained to do so from a young age it becomes second nature.

This has perfectly described what I've been thinking for a long time. My grandad (avid The Sun reader) will often come raging to me about some bollocks news story, like how the woke left want us to memorise over 1000 pronouns, including chicken head or something. Or how we can't use the word chipolata anymore, etc... And every time I have to explain, I'm a uni student. I'm surrounded by the woke left. And NONE OF US care. Not one bit. Like you said, it is literally one twitter bot and the papers act like it's the entire under 25 population.

As someone who worked at a newspaper for years, I know first hand that people don't respond (with money or attention) to good news or no news. So, news outlets always put controversy first. And that carried right over into social media where success is measured in clicks. So they emphasize whatever type of news/articles/headlines that will generate clicks. So the truth is, the consumers of content dictate what content gets produced. If headlines such as "the world is a nice place" generated the sales or clicks that "the world is ending" generated then "the world is a nice place" would be the stories they push. Simple as math really.

That's for you to figure out, of course.

It's bad logic. Just because you refuse to see what's going on, that doesn't mean it's not happening. You expose your own desire to stick your head in the sand, and keep it buried there, with the start of your comment: you felt better after this. I agree that this is how it started, but the problem is, that the narratives being pushed have bled into other areas of our lives, such as our workplaces, the entertainment industry, etc, so that the culture war has become very real, and even people who don't care can't escape it. Not really, he is lying gaslighting, it's well within his interest to do so, i.e putting down your political enemies and making money as if he criticised the truely woke stuff, which really all you have to do is quote them and they destroy themselves most of the time as he is right most normal people have no time for it, he would suddenly find himself with alot less work and BBC appearances.

I know right? It’s a small minority of privileged people who have too much time and/or money on their hands whilst most people are too busy trying to work/study/pay the bills to care. The internet/social media and especially TikTok often makes it feel like everyone outside your front door is batshit crazy but then you go outside and realise 95% of people aren’t like this.

Unfortunately for some of us lgbt folk there is actually a bit of a culture war.. Still not a lot of people, but a few very loud ones walk through my city centre every 4-6 weeks with signs and a megaphone shouting about how they don't think I should be allowed to exist in public spaces Most people ignore them, some call them wankers.. but occasionally, they'll get in touch with a mate, who has a mate who happens to be a member of parliament and can introduce a bill that tries to legally strip my rights away It's quite loud in the UK news and what few charities/government services do exist are being hounded and reduced further.. The US is hit or miss depending on the state - some are trying to outlaw a ridiculous number of things while other states are passing legislation to protect interstate refugees.. and yeah some people who are able, are fleeing their states. That and the bomb threats on children's hospitals, the armed militias threatening libraries and book reading events, the mass murder at Club Q (can't really tell the families of the dead that the culture war was just pretend).. As an Australian we have only ever moved in a progressive direction legislatively (in my lifetime at least) but every few months some horrid bills get introduced, parliament loudly debates my right to exist again before it gets voted down

this, yes. i moved out of the big city and now i'm not surrounded by anti-lgbt folk with megaphones, but i've been hate crimed twice in the last 6 months. i've been out of the closet for 6 years and it's only the last 2 that i've experienced truly terrifying homophobia and transphobia --> and it was only 6 months ago i moved out the big city to a more conservative area previously it was an old friend saying "i don't like that", or a slur from a distant relative, but now i have to keep my head down in public and train myself to walk and talk "less gay" (i honestly didn't realise it was a "problem" until i was clocked as gay by homophobes through it)

Gotta say, the breakdown is incorrect. If the right blamed the left for hating jaffa cakes, and the left responded by saying "yeah we do hate jaffa cakes" then the article would be correct. However, in reality what happens is that the right blame the left for hating jaffa cakes, and the left respond with "what the fuck are you talking about?"

One major thing he left out though is the political agendas seeping into movies and TV shows. You can ignore all the BS on social media. But if you want to escape the culture war entirely, it becomes hard to even watch a movie. Especially with Disney buying up everything.
