Porsche’s version of the Goldilocks tale is the 993-generation 911, the one many Porschephiles agree that the company got just right. It’s an ideal blend of technology and classic 911 air-cooled heritage. Today, a naturally aspirated 993 is a fantastic way to score a legendary sports car for V-6-family-sedan coin, but finding and buying a good one may not be so easy.
Porsche produced the 993-generation cars from 1995 through 1998 and these things are getting hard to find and are skyrocketing in value.
Yes the 993 turbo kills bugs really fast but the model I enjoy the most is this particular car. The 1998 C2S does it all for me, its quick enough and feels like a gentleman’s sports car. That said I think I have seen more women driving the 993 lately and that is even better!

I also have a 993 1996 Cabrio polarsilver with only 54.000 miles. I runs like new, with 18“ technology wheels, full e-seats, ABD, AC, cruise control and the Soundsystem intake and so on. It comes from Minnesota and now it is here in Germany for 10 years. It is my 7 th Porsche after 914/911 SC/Carrera 3.2/964 Look, Boxster 97, Boxster 99, 944 S 2.5L 16V and now the 993 varioram. A few incorrect things said in this video - they made the Carrera 'S' from the 1997 MY and they produced the model series from very late 1993 until mid 1998.

Why do you need to point this out..I have a 1996 Carrera S ....and have also owned a 1999 U.K. registered 993...it’s not exactly important...other than making yourself look like a bit of a fool...people dislike a show off .... the child at the front of the class always putting his hand up “sir sir sir” the train spotter saying the grommets used in 1886 differs from the 1885 and 1887....why be that person

I believe the last 993s were built in December 1997, although they were the 1998 model. The factory was retooled for the 996 which were produced in 1998.

My buddy got the 1997 C2S that BRUMOS had at the NY auto show when they returned to Florida... we took it to the beech when we graduated college in 97. He sold it 15 years ago with 18k miles - Black paint with carbon sills 18" turbo twist wheels and whaletale with motor sound package. WORST LUCK HE HAS... also sold a original black paint 1969 RS Z28 camaro which is worth 200k.

Great video, Nick! I own a guards red '95 993 Carrera 4. My best and most reliable car I've owned for the last 14 years. I have the sports seats (with hard backs) and they are fantastic...but, I never knew they were 10-15 grand (!). I feel kinda bad now since the hard backs have been scuffed (just normal wear and tear...and also because my 2 y.o. sits in the back and loves to put her feet on the hardbacks). Good morning Stephen, My 993S is Viola metallic, not vesuvio, and I came to it in 2016 (while working at the 919hybrid project in Weissach) over my colleagues at the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen. Due to our expected family "extension", I foreseeable will sell it within the next year.

Just less than 4 minutes in and I disagree with a lot of what you have said. I owned a '98 4S with sports seats and swapped it for a mint very low mileage '96 Turbo without sports seats. I find my regular seats to be just great and I don't miss the sports seats. The climate control works beautifully and I would not swap out my steering wheel for a newer model. The S model is a nice car for sure but the Turbo is truly special.

im gonna have to agree with you when it comes to this being one of porsches bests 911's, however, if im spending $100,000 i want it to be completely unadulterated and left alone to bare stock. In 2000 my USA '98 C2S spent time at the old Werk 1 shop on the factory production grounds. . The Porsche AG Werk 1 technicians installed the necessary TUV RoW bumpers, RoW 6sp gearbox, and M033 spring set only RoW C2S cars received. etc. .. After a year in the country and time to return home, the coupe was shipped via Lufthansa to LAX Los Angeles. .. My hometown of Vail, Colorado was a very long day drive . . . . Thank you for this Video Nick when I was 16 the year was 2000 and I absolutely loved this car but couldn't afford it. Instead I ended up with a Toyota Supra Turbo. Have you ever driven a 993? My guess is no because if you did you would know it has nothing to do with power or amenities. After a hard day’s work, 10-12 hours when i drive home this car will put a smile on my face by the time I get home. When you get out and slam the door and i do mean slam the mechanical sound that you hear is sooooo satisfying.
