We live in the middle of a big city, and we have to shop and buy organic from grocery stores. It’s expensive to choose and eat healthy foods. I really enjoy watching your family grow and harvest your own clean delicious food. Pork, chicken, veggies and those beautiful eggs! Oh my! Happy birthday, Olivia. 🎂❤️ (Oh yeah, my favorite birthday cake when I was young was angel food cake with chocolate pudding and whipped cream.)

Gooooooood Evening Al , Gina & Olivia , Happy Birthday Olivia ! Gee , you're getting older by the minute. lol Good job on the cake . ( with Mom's guidance ) Your cake looked perfect. Al , I would not worry about showing the butchering of animals for food. Some may be watching your channel for entertainment and they live in lala land where all meat magically shows up in the supermarket all wrapped in plastic. However , there are also many of us that tune in to see what you are up to and to learn from you. For example , your $30.00 chicken tractor. Such a good idea that I made one. And then I improved upon it. Mine now has two stories on one half and contains nesting boxes , roosts and an automatic rain fueled watering system. All because of you. I also used a one gallon garden sprayer to spray it with wood deck waterproofing with transparent teak stain. The chicken tractor just may be the prettiest structure on my homestead. Sometimes when a pond like that is full of undersized fish , it is because it is overpopulated. Meaning that there is not enough food available to allow them to grow larger. I know that it was more sportsman like to put them back in the pond. But you may not have been doing them or their brothers any favors. It did get Ling's attention ! What's he doing ? She asked. Why does he not take them home and eat them ? They were small but eight more would have been a meal for the three of you.

I'd love a "homestead tour" where you show us the whole property, either with drone footage or a map or something. I often find that I'm confused on where everything is located in relation to the other parts of the property, and there are random sheds and buildings all over that I find myself wondering about.

When I was young I watched "Green Acres" when it was on tv. So watching "Lumnah Acres" just seems right. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives. Most of us have follow for long enough that when you do things not related to the farm, we feel like we too are on an excursions, small trip, vacation, time out, just a break from the day. I for one live in Arizona, the scenery is nothing as you have where you live, it's fun thank you...!

Happy Birthday Olivia. Hope you had lots of fun kayaking at your favorite pond. That angel food cake looked delicious. Al, those black spots on the perch are parasites. They come during the heat of the summer so the best time for perch fishing is winter or early spring when it is still cold and the parasites are not on the fish. If you want to catch any trout in that pond you need to find the deep spots. Trout like cool water and will stick to where the thermocline is and below. Any quick drop-offs are good spots. Often trout will be right at the edge of the thermocline so they can forage on the bugs and small fish that like warmer shallow waters and still stay in their comfy cool water.

Good to see I'm not the only bee sting wimp, AL. As we went through our yard in Hampton Roads, VA after Isaisas hit, tore our cable wires and siding off the house, downed tons of pecan tree ll imbs, we picked up a tarp to use to cover the exposed part of the house and we're swarmed with bees. Between my husband, myself and one of our beagles, we suffered 7 bee stings. Ouch. I feel your pain. Literally. We used aloe from our plants. I enjoy whatever you want to show us. He had never done it before. My boys wanted some so they went together and bought two more chicks. Shortly before Christmas he had them processed. Gumpy , was one of ours. Once you're done with the meat birds this year, I'm looking forward to seeing what the total cost and total value (if you had purchased them) works out to be. Trout will go deep if the water is warm. They also like their bait to sit off the bottom. I bet if you got a bobber, and let the hook and worm sit about 2 feet below it, you will catch some trout, or even bigger perch. I have the best luck using power bait, and letting it sit, with a tiny jerk of the line once in a while. Trick is that warm water means they are deeper. They also like fuzzy or furry lures if trolling. You could troll on the kayak pretty easily. I could watch fishing all day long, and then some. 😊

If you have weight on your line my dads saying was when you let your line out it goes a foot a second and you try to keep your bait about a foot off the bottom. My dad has a 2 acre pond off his patio in Ohio and we would go out to Ohio and fish lake Erie for walleye and perch.

I have an old vintage four legged bathtub. Several years ago I filled it with junk. Chunks of cement big rocks plastic jugs that kind of thing. And then I put soil on the top. Well over the last few years I’ve been out of commission. And not been able to do anything with it. So needless to say it had gotten some weeds in it. The other day I was pulling them out I was going to plant some kale in it. Boy I’ll tell you what. Did I get a surprise. Bees up my shorts. I don’t think I’ve ran that quickly in years. Now mind you I’m in my 60s and last year thank goodness I had both of my hip joints replaced. That being said. I can run pretty darn quick now. So picture this I’m running across my garden my sons behind me swatting the bees 🐝 from me. No I’m not done with the story. I’m running bees are Buzzin up my shorts. We have a privacy fence where we used to have a pool. Needless to say I headed for that and dropped my shorts right outside. With bees in them. My son had to go get me a towel so I can make it in the house to treat the almost 10 stings I got. This was a few days ago and they are still driving me crazy. End of story. I thought this would be good for a laugh . Also true story.

If they are that aggressive you should have them removed. The danger to your family can be extreme. If you are in the southwest the bees are being taken over by Africanized bees are they are deadly. Be careful and you can find people on KZbin who do removals that will be happy to talk to you about them.

The bees were aggressive because I tore up their hive. Had I not been pulling weeds from the area where they created their home they wouldn’t of bothered me. When I pulled up a section of the weeds and soil everything came with... exposing the hive. That’s the only reason they were aggravated. I went back a couple hours later placed the weed and soil back in place and they’ve been fine ever sense. I live in the Northeast. These bees are called miner bees. They live in the ground. And I have messed up their world. That’s why they were angry.

I love watching all the day to day work that goes into running a farm.Mt maternal grandmother grew up on a farm. She was one of 13 children and they all pitched in with the farm chores. I heard lots of stories about the farm over the years so I am enjoying watching your family run your farm

From a women’s point of view my least favorite thing you show is when you’re working on the roofs. I skim over that part. But everything else, I enjoy. I love watching your wife and daughter cook together. Takes me back to when my Fawna was child. And I love watching you build things for the homestead and move snow! I also love how organized you are in doing your chores and how you talk to your animals!
