Great content. The little triangle i wish I saw before. Now I need to do brace wall on existing garage with stucco. I don't know if the City will allow me to do it on the inside since the triangle for sheer wall are on the outside. I wish I saw this before.

Hektor! You mentioned briefly about Homeowner- builder. Maybe you can make a video explaining what it is and what are the requirements in order to be considered one. I’m curious to know what work can be done as an owner-builder , AFTER roughing, in order to save cost.

Darvin hello, You can do drywall, paint, tile and the installation of the kitchen cabinets. After you pass the rough inspection the rest of the project is like remodeling a room. You will still need a Hers test before your final inspection. Take a look at my other video I have plenty of details on every stage of the construction process. Good luck

The shear walls on the exterior is not to rip off customers or justify more expenses , but to save on the future when you decide to make any modifications or in case any repairs need to be done such as electrical, flood remediation or plumbing leaks, also drywall over shear walls/ plywood has the tendency of cracking due to the expansion and contraction of sheeting. It can be done, but can also cause headaches in the future.
