I had the pleasure of having Graham as a tour guide on 2 different occasions during my visit in 2014. He really is a fantastic guide, it was great to see him again. This video brought back lots of great memories.

I was fortunate enough to have visited Scotland when I was a kid in 1997. I was only 7 years old, but remember quite vividly spending three weeks in Avimore and Inverness up north. Beautiful places.

A few years ago, when we took a tour on our way from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye (for 2 nights), our tour guide van driver changed things up when we approached Loch Ness by switching from talking about often brutal Scottish history, etc. to the fact that Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page once owned a house on the east side of the lake/loch. He then played Stairway to Heaven instead of Scottish traditional sorrowful ballads and our trip got way cooler. The band Yes also came up with the song Roundabout in this area. And The Police's Synchronicity II is about (in part) stirring Nessie from the depths .... the west coast of the Isle of Skye, by the way, is right up there with Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way and the Oregon coast, all stunning.

The village you were in Gabriel was Pitlochry, its in Highland Perthshire. Beautiful village, that really come to life when the Victorians connected it with the railway in 1863, it was one of the stops Queen Vitoria used to make on he journey from London to Balmoral Castle. By the way, the best sausages in Scotland are flat and square, they are called Lorn Sausages, you need to try them before you leave.

I like how at times you walk the city on your terms, but then others, you take a tour and get an expert guide to places like this. I find it's so good getting out of the city for day, seeing the history, villages, countryside. Very much enjoyed the highlands and the lochs, looks a fun day out. Thank you for your continued sharing of your adventures.

Thanks Gabriel for taking us around on your travels. Only recently discovered your channel (as you do!) . Like your style, quite informative but informal, down to Earth and not too much ego. Yes Scotland, I have to say, is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Only visited Edinburgh 2 years ago by train from London and drove to the highlands, Perthshire etc April 2017 very worthwhile.

Edinburgh itself impressed me more than I expected, but was really glad to see you get out into the Highlands as I've been curious about that part of the world myself. Weather wasn't great for scenic views, but the Glencoe area looked pretty amazing nonetheless. You just keep adding destinations to my long list of places to see - but don't stop ;-)

I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, but this will be my first time actually commenting. I’ve only ever left the States once unfortunately, back in 2005, and spent the entire time in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The Highlands were by far my favorite region the entire trip, so naturally I enjoyed seeing parts of it again here-it brought back many fond memories actually. Glen coe was my second favorite part of the Highlands, the Isle of Skye being my favorite. Really wish I had visited more islands that would have required a ferry because of that-hindsight you know. I think that’s part of why I enjoy your videos so much actually, you just seem a genuine traveler and less a “tourist” in these videos. There are some touristy things now and again that just can’t be passed up, such as Loch Ness, but I enjoy just seeing the streets in these cities and towns as much if not more than those rarities actually. I had a lot of fun just walking around in them myself and sort of experiencing daily life in a new area as much as when I visited castles, cathedral/monasteries, museums, etc. They were great for what they were but as time goes by I remember the small things more and more over exactly what was in a museum or exactly what the sites looked like when I visited them. I mean, that’s why photos are great, but even the mundane activities is what really sticks and you never know what you run into while doing so. Even when doing those planned excursions actually. I went to the Tower of London (just one of those touristy things again, practically a must if in London though imo) but my two biggest memories of it are completely unrelated to the actual Tower. I got side tracked there, but just wanted to say thanks as I really enjoy the way you just explore a lot of these areas and share them with us. It’s an underrated experience imo that more people need to try if given the chance to travel abroad or even more locally. The big Named sites are well worth visiting, but just breathing it all in and taking a step back from all of the tourist traps is a memory one shouldn’t deny themselves either.

It’s great to see the Highlands! I was in Inverness staying with a 5th cousin in January 1985, and he and his family lived very close to Loch Ness. We went all over the same area: Fort William and Glen Coe, then to the west coast across from the Isle of Skye, where my ancestors left Scotland for Canada & the US. It’s so amazingly beautiful and ancient in the Highlands. I really hope to go back one day. I’m really glad you took that tour! Thanks for sharing. 👍🏼✌🏼

Karin B, I was there in 85 as well. My ancestors also are from Scotland (and Wales and Ireland). It's incredibly beautiful, and I felt so connected personally through my ancestors. I always swore I would go back, but so far haven't made it. I hope to visit in 2019 or 20.

northofyou33 Yes, my ancestors are the same: mostly northern Scotland and Orkney, and some English, Irish, as well as a bit of German & Scandinavian. I was only 16 when I was there. My cousin took me to Culloden, and I had NO idea what I was seeing. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I’d realized what I’d seen and wished I could’ve remembered it better. Youth is wasted on the young, lol. I hope you get to go back soon!! ✌🏼

An Englishman (in fact, a Geordie) giving a guided tour of Edinburgh 😆 and, although he referred to Princes Street gardens as being one-time the Nor Loch, he didn’t explain to his passengers what exactly a “loch” is...! There may have been some who we’re oblivious. Okay, okay... anyone can learn the history of a place in order to give guided tours, it just seems a bit odd not being Scottish.

Amazing movie--and I'm Scottish--seemed like a pretty '' keep themselves to themselves '' bunch of co travellers you are stuck with there---at this time of year you see the foggy misty aspect of Scotland which has a haunting beauty--similar to that you see in Ireland. You were asking about cameras following the problems you were having with your GoPro Hero 7. If I were you, I'd wait and see if GoPro issue a further firmware update that might correct the issue before buying an (expensive) RX100 VI. If you are interested in the RX100 cameras, you might consider the previous (V) model which has a faster f1.8 kens than the f2.8 lens of the VI, although the VI has a much larger zoom range. If you search on KZbin for "Jared Polin Sony RX100 VI vs V", you'll find a great video comparing the two cameras. Jared Polin is American, so you'll feel at home! One thing I would say is that you will be far less unobtrusive using an RX100 than a GoPro for vlogging in the street. Sorry I've gone on a bit, but I hope these thoughts help.
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 5 жыл бұрын
No worries, thanks for the info, that helps. I'll consider getting the V instead of the 6, plus it will be cheaper. My GoPro might have an issue aside from the update, because no one else has reported the same problem I'm having.
