Yeah the first 12 seconds is pretty accurate. I've been playing Dark Monarch with the Apprentice engine and it's been super fun as of late! I'd love to see a ton of you guys around for the Extravaganza this month, prize support is INSANE for this, and the most expensive cards you'll be buying are like, $10 Arcana Night Jokers, $5 Allure of Darkness, it's really not bad at all unless you wanna go max rarity, in which case it's still cheaper than minimum rarity in Advanced format.

If every Speed Duel product was like Battle City Box, it would do a lot for the format. Battle City Box is legit the best Yugioh product ever printed for newer players who want to get into the game or older players making a return. The bang for your buck is ridiculous.

I want to see the card pool open up a bit more. I'd love to see phantasm spiral in some way or a normal monster focus like early GX (minus neos, something more like frostasaurus maybe) I think some elemental decks like the old school structure decks would be fun, just as s means of theming product. Earth pacman/flip screams to be a thing in a smaller format, fire burn/volcanics maybe, etc.

Glad I'm not the only one who likes the quality of the cards. As I told them in the survey recently, the only thing I hated was the giant "Speed Duel" emboss. Beyond that it's the highest quality product release at least since I returned 2 and a half years ago and probably ever because it's much more like the Japanese stock where they actually put effort into their production because they actually have competition. I gladly swiped up (at least) 4 copies of every Speed Duel card in existence.

What makes me worried about Speed Duels is how it will interact with Rush Duels. If the rumors that Rush Duels will replace Speed Duels is to believed than either Speed duels will die, or Speed Duel will kill Rush Duels and it would suck either way They are both fun ways to play Yu-Gi-Oh, buy they are so different, it's trying to compare an orange to a chair. Orange maybe tastes good, but on a chair you can sit. They are that different to me

I guess not being able to use cards you already own and that costs literal cents and having to buy them again just to use in an alternate format was really what drove people off of speed duels before even trying. It is a really fun format though, wish it had gained more traction

I've always wanted to try playing with the Speed Duel card-pool (including skill-cards) but using the normal rules (40 cards, 5/5 layout, mp2, etc). Maybe one day.

I was pretty sure it was flat out dead after the battle city box and they did that to make room for the inevitable Rush Duel launch in the TCG. But that's interesting, speed duel was a lot of fun, just the lack of product releases really hurt it over time

I agree on the packs. I feel like they could have just released another structure deck of Mako/ Bandit Keith/ Bonz and had a majority of the remaining cards in the packs left to one set of boosters not 4 boxes. Then they could have focused on cards that could enhance all the current structure decks for all the characters from battle city etc. It seems like they tried to release other characters and enhance the structure decks both in the form of booster packs (e.g. gilford the lightning and harpies pet dragon).

Not surprised by no mention of Skull Servants. They haven't been doing well lately. Speed Duels need/needed to continue buffing them somehow, cuz they're the deck in Speed Duels right now that actually deserves to be top tier for the sake of drawing people in. In that vein, I also hope if GX cards are introduced like Joseph proposed, that Vehicroids are forced to be top tier by Syrus's skill being hilarously broken like they did for Serpent Night Dragon. Speed Duels would draw in a lot more curious players if it were "the format where stuff like Skull Servants and Vehicroids are the meta" instead of it being "the format where Jinzo is the meta", which I'm sure is putting a lot of potential players to sleep with how boring that is. Wish I'd have know about that discord Matthew Bell set up for suggestions. But I probably would've been ignored anyway.

i feel instead of boosters... konami should just make similar "Battle City box" for future expansion as well as maybe allow maybe 5 "non Speed duel marked cards" since several interested players have OLD cards like Book of Moon or Book of life which you can't use and HAVE to play the Speed Duel marked card

They're a company who wants to make money. If they let you use any cards then they might as well just make it a default format rather than wasting money making a new product at all. Which is a fine enough argument (they really should have other formats) but you're talking about a specific product so it makes no sense to use it here. The point of high rarity cards is to make you buy more of the product, so allowing you to bring in a bunch of commons from outside is nonsensical because then you're not going to buy the product. Or cause someone else to buy it so you can buy the single. Whichever way it means more sales for them whereas at this point you might have 24 of the other printings of card X sitting in storage causing no additional sales to make back money for manufacturing this new stuff. And to be realistic it's way more worth supporting this stuff than it is the default one because it's much higher quality. It's like they forgot they weren't printing cards for Japan when they made it.

The fact that your opponent could always just, destroy any back row you set without a response then tribute off your best monster and summon 2 PUGMs with a normal summon on the crack back if you try to go aggressive and that Sphere Kuriboh will be your only point of interaction kind of ruins it for me.
