This Isn’t Cake?! CakeGate Edition!

Today’s yummy adventure features a Mini Birthday Cake Hot Chocolate Bomb inspired by TikTok drama from a few weeks ago! Being in the baking community, of course I saw the drama over CakeGate, so an idea popped in my head to make a mini hot chocolate bomb cake inspired by the cake that started it all! What other kinds of hot chocolate bombs should I make??

Absolutely! At first I was like oh it’s another Karen customer story, until the pictures of the cake were posted, lol. I genuinely can’t understand how she could have been happy with sending out such a poor quality cake. I find it ironic that she charges for classes, when classes are what she needs to improve her own skills & justify charging the rates that she does. 😳

I had literally never heard of cakegate (I'd heard of bingate which was a different cake-based drama) until I happened across funky frog bait's video so yeah if people need the whole thing summed up in a nice little package, that's a good place to go!

Hey so, my personal opinion on this is to watch funkyfrogbait's video on this, they show the evidence that not only did the baker pasted stolen cake designs on her website to make people think those were hers, but it's also been revealed that she uses box cake mix (and lied about it being made from scratch), overcharges for horrible cakes/cupcakes, and that she's basically a pretty mean person as well. Funkyfrogbait goes over all these claims in their video, and gives some pretty funny commentary :D EDIT : ive looked through the replies, tysm to the people who corrected me, and ive added what i missed about the situation!

To be fair. The using box cake mix isn’t terrible. That’s something a lot of bakers/bakeries do. But I do think that she was saying they are homemade from scratch which is a bit dishonest. And the decorating was atrocious. But yeah. By itself the box cake mix wasn’t too bad. But with everything else it was very not good.

Basically a dumbed down version of you needed it!: This lady on TikTok with a small local business. She made a video about a person who ordered one of her cakes- making the customer to be the villain, she continued to explain how the cake the customer ordered was 80$… and everyone fought her because this cake was horrible. It was a rainbow cake with sprinkles and a dollop of unspread buttercream with horrible cursive righting on it. The customer posted about this too but took it down because she didn’t want the bakers business to go down. She also was found stealing other designs and not crediting anyone! Yay!!!!!! And there’s more but I’m kinda lazy sooooo… yeah
