I am frustrated with the way that this IP is handled with this collection being another great example. I don't care if they spent lots of time working on box design or the chess board. What matters is giving the fans what they want, something this collection fails at. The difference between how other IPs are treated vs Code Geass is just amazing.

I'm pretty sure if there were fans who could afford it, they would... but the majority of us wouldn't bother. Pesonally, I'm not getting a collection that's more than 100 dollars. I already have majority of the stuff. They're trying to milk this for money.. obviously to get the rich people who can afford it. It's like going to disney world, a lot of us aren't invited.

I don’t think this was a direct choice from Taniguchi, Sunrise, or any of the actual series creators. It honestly comes off as an exclusive Crunchyroll decision. They have much bigger pressing matters going on than our beloved Code Geass, I owned $4000 worth of digital purchases on funimation accumulated over several years to just have it thrown to the wind by Crunchyroll. The ones who spit in the fans faces are the actual companies licensing this merchandise. Look at the Funimation release for the 30th anniversary of Dragon Ball, they gave us dogwater video quality with an artificial layer of grain plastered over while dangling their master footage over our faces. Also Taniguchi isn’t too off about marketability with Code Geass I haven’t seen the interview but it is a fact it is harder for Japanese anime to syndicate overseas due to the difference in what’s permissible and accepted in terms of TV standards such as PG, PG-13, and R. A show like Code Geass wouldn’t never see the light of day if it were created in America without a million things being changed a long with it.

I realized there's a difference between what Goro said vs this collection. But the idea is just the amazing ways they make money from this IP despite claiming it's hard to make money from making an anime. Yeah, Funimation did tons of messed up stuff and I feel for anyone who has purchased past stuff digitally and has to deal with the merger.

@@MyMediaChops This is very true. The Japanese side of everything is just as bad too, you even mentioned before that Genesic Re;Code was just a pathetic gacha game that is r34 centric. This is becoming a major problem for most animation, the creators are so out of touch with the fans. Personally I am more excited for Dakkan no Roze than I was even for Fukkatsu no Lelouch partly because I don’t have in the back of my mind “they better not do Lelouch dirty in any way”, however my sentiment is very different from most of the people I have talked to online (surprisingly my irl Japanese friends agree with me). To go back to my Dragon Ball comparison, the creators are wanting to do Daima… When literally everyone has wanted Super to come back with the Moro and Granolah arcs. Also as for the funimation merger, I’ve never been one to even think about becoming a “sea merchant” (you get what I’m saying)…. But I’m really about to be doing that, companies don’t want you own what you buy and beyond that they don’t want to give you the best possible product anyways. Fans have to do it for themselves.

I just ordered mine. I've never owned any of the code geass sets and found this one to be very appealing. I play a lot of chess so the chessboard was my main reason for buying. Chessboards tend to be expensive so I just saw it as a chessboard plus a code geass box set. And it comes with a necklace I'm going to wear and 6 months of crunchy roll. It seemed pretty worth it to me.

@@MyMediaChops I guess this was always the endpoint. The most money I ever spent on an anime was $150 for the Kill la Kill blu-ray boxset as a birthday gift to myself. Great show but Aniplex would have sold 10x more of them if the price was cut to a third. The companies are going to say these ludicrous prices should be the norm.

If only they should've listened to the fans of what we all wanted to have on the Collections. The collections i want to have is Highschool DXD, but i have to wait like a decade for that to happen. Having the complete collection and Collector's Edition Unboxing of Highschool DXD by putting all seasons, all episodes, all ovas, all OAD (original animation DVD), art book, a figurine of Xenovia, a funko pop figure of Rias, posters, mousepad, bodypillow of Akeno, boosted gear hard drive, buttons, a T-Shirt of Rias and Akeno, the complete guide of high school dxd book, an assessory of a necklace, stickers, cards, original and uncut, both blurays and DVD, both english and japanese language and subtitles, HD, a Boosted Gear Gauntlet, Ovas having both english and japanese language, even a movie but haven't done that yet and much much more. Wait this shit is $500+ and you get nothing new except an overpriced chess board and a shitty cardboard box that supports and holds all compartments bruh looking inside the box any small force will make a dent thus ruining the box, the necklace looks like something you can get online for like $20 or less and a usb that sure looks cool but you’ll never it smh. All I want is for that code geass game for the ds that was turned based and was only in Japan to be released in the west like all consoles and pc cuz that would bring more eyes to this amazing franchise and hell maybe we can get more code geass games. No effort in trying to move the franchise further in a meaningful way. Not surprised this 'collectors item' hasn't sold out. I hope this isn't reflective in the future season coming this year.

This isn’t me trying to be offensive, but how is this product actually a Scam? The video thumbnail and title almost seems like a clickbait after finishing the video. I understand all the reasons for frustration and not liking the item, such as already having possession to some of the items in the collection but I do not think that really makes it a scam in general especially to people who do not already posses them. In all honesty I’m Indifferent towards this product though I agree with you on that it looks cool but as a fan I rather just embrace the art itself than concern so much with the collectors item of it unless it’s the physical copy of all the anime content which you showed in the video. I do think it’s quite expensive for anyone who just doesn’t have cash to throw around and they probably should and will make it cheaper as time goes by, though honestly idrc too much about items that aren’t even by the creators themselves, which is another thing, I don’t think Taniguichi is lying about anime content not receiving monetization for awhile, even in debut in 2006, it was going through an underdog story which is kinda understandable to now be selling items and making games instead as a side content.

There's a bit of hyperbole in the title but I wouldn't call it clickbait more like clickworthy. Now the reason why it's a scam is because they are trying to get you to purchase the same things you own for more money. Or trying to get you to pay more for the anime collection that they could have just re-released separately outside of this collection for way less. They market this product as something anime fans want when it's the opposite. It's not illegal but it's extremely dishonest. I don't think they are going to lower the price unless they are desperate. My guess is that they set that price to make a profit from selling all 3,000 copies of this. But we will see. I think would be better if they just broke up the collection and sold things separately. My issue with Goro's statements is that he justifies gatcha games with that reasoning instead of other ways to monetize the IP. Just this collection and the gatcha games the fan base is being milked on nostalgia instead of giving them what they want; brand new content.

@@MyMediaChops gotchu, well I get why someone who has some of the same products would consider it a bad product to purchase, especially if they didn’t say what would be inside but if they did and someone who still has those items purchases it then idk what to say. I mean I don’t blame Taniguichi for justifying the games with the reasoning of not having enough money, and im sure they are trying to find new ways to monetize the IP i mean they are managing to realize new content this may so I mean the fans such as myself are finally getting something we want. My problem isn’t with the items but with people who keep criticizing the idea of this new content when they been wanting new content but it’s not going in the ideal way they imagined it. At least give it a watch than talk about it, right?

Because that exclusive trailer looked amazing. I am looking forward to the film after having watched that. I would be more willing to give Taniguchi the benefit of the doubt if Genesis Re; code wasn't a thing.
