This would be great if I was a shop, but one vehicle at home, the cost is too high. I could probably rent booth space at a shop on the weekend for way less money.

I built my own using one of those carport tarp covered with end panels, temporary shelter or whatever they call it, and built it inside my garage. Mounted LED strip lights all around, and painted the bed of my F350 in it. I used a high CFM ventilation blower with a filter box and extracted the fumes outside. I built a wall of filters for the opposite end. I think all told I had $400 in it, and still use it as a garage to work on my cars year round. I can use a portable AC for when it is too hot, or a heater for when it is cold out, just close the end flaps.

That sounds like a pretty good solution! Be careful about the fumes and open motors on your fans though - we'd suggest checking if their explosion proof.
@acdii3 ай бұрын
@@eastwoodco The extraction blower is from a Laser, so it is enclosed since fumes from the laser can cause explosions, especially if extracting plastic fumes. That was my #1 concern. They are also extracted far enough away from the compressor too. Mixing paints OTOH, thats still something I have to work on, but I don't do it enough to warrant a stand alone shed, I just mix them out in the shade.

I was considering the upgrade until I saw your prices. I will be sticking with my amazon booth with its two blowers and evacuator fan for a fifth of the price

$10k for a "Legal" 24x15 Paint booth VS Amazon $1000 which one is selling more booths?
@bamascubamanАй бұрын
I was all kinds of interested, even with knowing that this would be a fair amount more expensive & then I saw just how much more expensive. If I was planning on spraying every week, I might be able to justify it but 5-10 times more expensive is just way more than a hobbyist can possibly justify.
@thetruth18626 ай бұрын
It could be for a shop that has just opened, and is building there clients up enough to justify and permanent larger booth.

Is there something like this for use a s a dedicated sanding booth to help keep dust under control?
@acdii3 ай бұрын
Get an Outdoor Carport 10x20ft Heavy Duty Canopy Storage Shed to sand in. You can also get a filter box and air extractor to vent out clean air to keep the dust down inside. I use one to paint in as well.

Exactly, for someone doing a couple jobs here and there, these make no sense. 6-8X as expensive...
@Mike-012342 ай бұрын
Might as well just have someone paint it no savings if have you pay $10000-15000 for a paint booth. In fact you can buy a real paint booth used in almost any city for much less if you look in CL. Lot of times they are being sold by a building land lord left from a body shop that went out of business. Friend wanted one we drove around found a out of business body shop building see the paint booth we called the leasing company asked them they told us if we haul it away gave it to us. He had few acres of land could use it doesn't work if you live in a housing tract like me.

Portable paint booths are already a pretty niche product, but this is even more so. Portable booths are typically ignored by professionals who are doing a lot of work due to the annoyances and frustrations of inflatables. It takes up more space than a framed permanent booth, setting them up outdoors means dealing with wind and tracking in dirt, cleaning these out is a pain because there are no floor drains. Plus, any damage means taking the entire thing to a seamster to resow panels. And for an amateur, these are way more expensive than the chinese brands for something that is not likely going to see enough use to justify 10k for a few jobs. For $10k USD, you can get a pretty basic booth framed in. The attempt to sell it on the inflammability of it seems a bit silly too. If you're caught in a paint-based fire or explosion you're going to get 2nd and 3rd degree burns. The booth doesn't cause it so if there's a fire, the booth won't reduce the likelihood of it. If you're in a shop, a framed paint booth is going to be exponentially better for handling a fire anyways.

That's why there is a law in place that says shops have to have a fire suppression system installed in their paint booths. I've been working in the collision industry for well over 30 years, and have only heard of a few booth fires. Usually they're caused by a jack wagon smoking a cigarette, but all those stories were from the pre fire suppression days.

I never believe that it is made in the USA or Europe because it is way too expensive and the differences are if you pay enough to China you will have an even better one, don't worry about that, here you compare two completely different products, the cheapest with a better quality PVC, all the PVC is made in China and the overspray has to do with the wattage of your blower that you hang on it, I have a car repair shop and I also had a very good one delivered to China, completely made of PVC to see what it actually does, it also has a lot to do with the pressure where you work with of course also the best its you buy it not to small that you have more room
@oliviersegers82495 ай бұрын
many people want something from China but don't want to pay yes you get what you pay for, that is the complete truth, also and I have tested it all, the output filter stomach is not too big then you make a little more pressure and then the mist will come out better
@oliviersegers82495 ай бұрын
Spraying is an art and you have to use the right pressure for something like this. Many people spray at too high a pressure and then you can have an inflatable spray booth worth 1 million dollars and it will still be completely full of overspray
@billnelson34055 ай бұрын
It's better for you because you didn't pay for it. As a private owner, these aren't worth the price. I bought a Chinese model for 1/10thof the price and it works fine.

@@48Boxer $10k for a 24x15 if I was running a mobile paint repair business where setting this up on a customers property I would buy one of these. Not suited for the DIY home painter anyone who has the money to buy this just take the project to a body shop have them do it.
