got it for coal around 6 months ago, enjoyed it for ranked a lot when well angled and was a lot of fun in the asymmetric battles (use with full secondary build +IFHE)... why would anyone spend dubs on this when you can get it for coal

Iwami is surprisingly solid. Just not for dubs, there are better ships for dubs. If you must have Iwami, save up the coal for it.

I love my Iwami (not from this money pit), it’s a money printing machine, and the gun angles are awesome too. It’s a great mid-range ship, going brawling in the late game (random).

I actually find the guns to be pretty nice, I only got it today (for coal obviously) and I had some fun in it although every game I had was an uptier to supership games. Since I still am relatively new to the game I simply ignored the secondaries and only built into the main guns and it actually worked pretty well as I found the despersion to be pretty good + the torps are hilarious.

You're paying 18,000 doubloons for an Iwami plus all the extras, including the flag, patch, and unique voice commander. The various loot boxes' value will vary. So essentially saving 1,300 doubloons plus getting the extras. You could grind the coal to get the ship for free, 228,000 coal is not an insurmountable total, but 18,000 doubloons is roughly $72. It depends on how much you value your time. It's far less time for me to earn $72 versus 228,000 coal. For folks with an excess of coal, free is obviously better.

I bought it long time ago for coal, not sure if it still up for sale for coal and if you wanted to buy for gold, use your gold coupon and save even more gold from total price. don't give WG your money when you can use coupons to save good amount.

The main battery is puzzling. IIRC Iwami has 2.05 or 2.1 sigma and reasonable dispersion, but it feels like it's the old German BB pattern...I got her when she was released (for coal as several others have pointed out) and the guns have always been mildly disappointing to me.

They're Nagato guns, so they don't have the same punch that Izumo or the other new IJN T9 premium's do. I always thought the guns were pretty mid too, though that could be me being spoiled by Iowa's guns.

I feel like if you REALLY want Iwami but don't have coal for it you could just use a coupon and buy her for dubs directly. Yes, it's another 4750 or so of dubs even at 25% off, but spending dubs on this event will set you back 22k dubs. And for what? Some worthless trinkets and the _chance_ of getting a Chinese-themed techline ship? No thank you. Edit: The 25% off coupon is in the armory. You get 1 every 6 months.
