You aren't dumb WeBe, I'm pretty sure even before 2022 Gaijin has already said they wanted to remove the R2Y2s from the game. I think it was in some kind of Q&A where they said the moment they find a replacement for them they'd remove them. I think they just haven't really put much effort into finding a replacement, so they haven't done it yet. Edit: I tried to look it up, it seems the q&a was also in 2022 where they even mentioned some planes they could replace them with, because it was "all in their plans already" lol.

R2Y did exist, just never as a jet but as a high speed prop plane. That one could be added since it is just the same plane but with a propeller. Pretty sure it was never armed though but that hasn’t stopped other planes from being added.

Yeah the prop recon existed but it was built on an airframe intended to use jet engine in future as they weren't ready yet. There were also various plans we know existed but they have been lost or destroyed. These were guesses based on the little info they so know.

What else are they supposed to do for the Japanese? When their experiments in jet aviation had just barely gotten off the ground the war ended. They already copy/pasted the American tree to fill out Korea, let the Japanese have some of their paper designs I say.

Yes, Jabo is short for Jagdbomber. The 262s with rocket boosters are the C-1a and C-2b.

None of the R2Y2s were ever removed because unlike the Corellian or Tiger 105 there isn't anything to replace them with.

There is actually, gaijin just hasnt added them yet and they're not paper either infact the entire japanese tech tree community has asked for them to be added 4 years plus and nothing has happened with suggestions

The severe damage mechanic only kicks you out if the game ends and your still flying around, if you land during the battle you won't get kicked out

For some reason they removed the armoured targets belt. Now you cant even use it to ground pound without the bombs. The did it to all the r2's as well.

I didn't even realise these were removed, that's pretty sad. Whenever I used to see them in battle they were either endlessly ground pounding or obliterating your teammates lol I remember trying to learn these cannons on the J7W1, was good at intercepting bombers which made it easier. Very satisfying when you hit though.

WoW, man must of been in the same match as me yesterday. I said this exact thing in the game chat. I said Who plays this Fake Japanese Jet that use to be labeled as a bomber back in the day. Plus Gaijin said they were removing this jet from the tech tree because it was never even made.

Oddly enough I feel the same with gun sounds too, I always have trouble aiming the 37mm on the early Russian jets because the sound throws me off every time. Honourable mention goes to the Japanese naval planes, their guns sound anemic as all hell

The 8.0 one is wayyy better than the 7.7, the ouragan/barougan turns well but is very sluggish when it comes to acceleration. The mystere 2a at least kinda fixes the engine, still underpowered engine compared to some of its counterparts bute at least it can go above 500km/h without pushing the engine for years

R2Y2 30mm's are almost messy shotguns, they severe and crit when they land but theyre not magnetized to pilot snipes and 1 shot kills from my view. Almost 'dirty' rounds designed to impair rather than kill
