You should view Hirokazu Koreeda's epic 1998 film, "After Life"

If you have an old dog, you will be familiar with this concept. Each day is a gift, each moment will be unique. It is mostly due to understanding that death is near.

This film has been given great recognition...in Europe first at Cannes. I have yet to view it, but hopefully it will come to San Francisco soon. Having immigrated to the San Francisco over 65 years ago, I still yearn for the beautiful and compassionate Japanese values that do not exist in American culture. Thank you for speaking of this wonderful film.

Just returned from Japan after my first visit, and I saw what you saw....the little things....even the manhole covers have cute pictures! My friend recommended this movie before I left and I will definitely see it now!

btw ... the toilets in Japan are so clean compared to US....anywhere, train stations...stores, restaurants, etc. Plus many have those control panels that will wash your bottom! Never did figure them all out 😂
