I think it will run. You could definitely make your money back and more parting out the rest of the car. If possible, I'd keep the glass for Janice if you'd ever need it. Same with any trim pieces and the bumpers if they are in good condition. Great video!

Even if you get it to run you aren’t gonna drive it to verify the transmission. I understand both sides of starting it and not starting it to get the better parts on it. Even if something is bad on that engine and transmission you have your money worth. I’m looking forward to the future videos.

Provided the injection pump is good, it will run. The engine clearly has good compression. BTW, the fuel pump core alone is worth the price of the car.

Go to Wally World and get a boat tank and 12v fuel pump to supply the rail with fuel. You and use a cordless tool battery to power the clicker. Have the clicker by the boat tank so the tank gravity bleeds to the clicker ( they are pushers not pullers )

I would first lubricate all those cylinders. Make sure you have good oil then get an external fuel pump and gas can or if the fuel pump is ok then at least use an external gas tank. Blow out all those fuel lines and replace any bad rubber connections or lines. Good luck.

I wonder about the injection pump. Maybe you can bypass and test just with some carb cleaner in the intake for temp fuel. For storing those engines there is a thing called fogging spray. Ive seen a ton of videos about Valvoline Restore and protect. It has a formula that dissolves carbon the goal being to free up and keep the oil control rings free as you drive. Apparently from what I've seen it's cleans up varnish and gunk and sludge in the engines as well. It's an every day oil. Last Benz I drove was a 280 SE 3.5 v8 convertible with a pigskin interior. MY buddy watched it being built in Germany. At the same time I had a long ride in the 300 I think. It was a long car with air suspension. It had the six though. We had fun tossing it around some back roads long ago. It was a 1969 version.

I don't think you spent to much on it. I wouldn't try running it without replacing the spark plug wires and fuel filter. Maybe bypass the tank and run known fresh gas to give yourself the best chance of it running right the first try.

use a universal boat fuel tank they have a low pressure electric fuel pump as standard, thats usually more then enough to a car started, and i still say you should drop in a 351 Cleveland into this shell, that way you got advertisement for you channel for Burnout comps, Drag racing events, road racing events, power tours! 😎

The engine is likely good since the cylinders look clean but the fuel injection is probably not going to work since the fuel is not good. The entire fuel system could be stopped up with bad gas. It's a good idea to try get the engine running to make sure it's good before doing all of the work to pull it out of the car. Even though the cylinders look good it could still have other problems.

Always cut the belts off and spray oil into the cylinders before rotating the crank on an engine that’s been sitting for an unknown time, a rusty piston ring can gouge the heck out off the cylinder walls.

Take engine out and check chain and crankbearings before any stupid start attempt. Also save as many part as possible like instrument, bumper, door stops and as many small parts as possible, those are hard to find!
