I understand why wooden keycaps and keyboards are expensive but it would be nice if they were a bit more accessible. My friends is allergic to most plastics and silicones so he had to cover each key with aluminium foil. Edit Edit: Turns out he's allergic to ABS and not PBT. He just never knew about custom keyboards and other types of keycaps until I brought it up X_X Edit: right now the plan is to save up for a set or to get ceramic keycaps. Since they need to be in ISO layout I'd need them blank and then put the legends myself

@@turtl9464 use resin. Make one mold for each row, space bar, enter etc. it shouldnt be too hard, if youre willing to do it. Not sure if hes not allergic to that either but its an idea

I loved the ending; stuff comes with a cost. Anyways for the keyboard, I feel like the wire would do some damage, because it's wood (in my imagination). Probably does have stuff stiffening the "connection".

I've always been into the idea of a wood keeb, and I got these caps a while back. They look great but the coating on them isn't the best for actual use. I'd love to see some master crafts people do some polished burlwood caps or something.

Ayy love this build! For the plate instead of you manually do it why not try laser cutting? Wont cost too much, and you need the template as well!

The plate needs to be thin enough for the keys to click in. Wood that thin would be pretty damn fragile. You'd need to cross laminate hardwood vineer. After which you need a CNC router to gently CNC the parts because a Lazer has trouble with dense hardwood.

I have a wooden GK64 keyboard case that got a very nice quality finish - way better than the one in the video: wood is darker, detailed, smooth in touch, and with rubber feet on the bottom. On top of this, it didn't even cost a fortune: wooden case + hot swap pcb for about $150 from Aliexpress with free shipping to EU. Looks very slick with any set of modern keycaps and it obviously weights more than plastic so it improves sound while costing significantly less than any metal case.
