the acoustic version on 12 strings guitar from "No Quarter" with R. Plant. that's mesmerising

Bust out No Quarter next summer around the campfire. Excellent.

My fav tuning, darker and easier to play than standard. No Quarter is a great song.
@jonts78 күн бұрын
could you explain why it's easier to play?
@matrixview8 күн бұрын
@@jonts7 obviously it's not easier for most things that are written in standard, but the drop-D has some advantages: Great for songs in the key of C# and F# (open), 1 finger barred-bass with more oomph that frees up the ringfinger for melody. The half-step down sounds so nice... I also love the black keys on piano.;-)

@@matrixviewHalf step down is just so good. Darker, sadder, and easier for the voice ahah
@lordthicknipples-gt2oq5 күн бұрын
@@TheSkyline35 well, that depends on your vocal range. Some sing lower, some sing higher. E standard is perfect for my voice, although, unfortunately my voice is not so good

Oh WOW!! This is perfect - I see a lot of people try and cover famous rock bands or show how they played a riff, but this is .. quite literally perfect. Well done sir.

So much fun to play that, and to learn the actual tabs, and accomplish it. Please do a 12 string version all the way through? Imagine it.

The last phrase of the chorus riff, and I only learned this recently myself, the first note is F, not G. It's a F->A slide (1st to 5th fret).* *This is with standard tuning in mind. The record sounds lower due to tape speed. No Quarter was originally conceived with a faster up-beat The Doors-style samba beat (demos available on KZbin), and then got progressively slower and more sombre as they developed it. It looks like even after recording they regretted the tempo, but didn't bother re-recording and just slowed the tape a little. And live the songs was always performed even slower than that, but in standard tuning, except at the 2007 reunion, but that's because of Plant's ageing voice.

I'm curious if you are familiar with or enjoy Leprous. The guitar parts on the chorus of Below would benefit from a cover+tabs of yours. There's a playthrough of the guitar player on YT.
