I hadn't seen this one in a while, and it reinforced my belief that if Marvel had 1/10th the brains it used to have, Cillian Murphy would be Dr. Doom, because the anger, the passion, the belief in self of Tommy ... that's all Doom. Alfie scenes (Tom Hardy) are always like PEAK CINEMA. It can never get any better. Normally I'm annoyed when they bring back dead characters, but this actor is so amazing, that i'd literally beg for more scenes of him in this, no matter the cost. Thats how good he is. He dominates every scene he is in. With that said, its also annoying that he was supposed to have skin or lung cancer, and it seems like they forgot about it. If you'd ask me I'd wager it was all a lie from the beginning, in order to soften Tommy at that moment, and have a better shot at killing him and/or surviving, which he did. Yeah a lie does make sense. It would not be beneath Alfie to lie either. If it was the truth, it doesn't make any sense any more.

This is why I hated so much of this season - in particular Moseley being the main antagonist. That's because anyone who knows about the history of pre/inter-war Britain knew very well that Oswald Moseley wasn't going to be shot. He's far too much of a major historical figure; he's no Billy Kimber that the writers can take liberties with the facts. It would almost be like having Winston Churchill killed off before WWII. It ensured that the season lacked suspense; history made sure of that. It was only a matter of finding out just how Tommy failed.

If knowing about the characters' fate would ruin the suspense, every historical adaptation and all prequels would suck, which isnt the case. Just like in Better Call Saul or the Star Wars prequels, suspense is created through the characters we dont know the fate of and the events that lead to the outcome we already know. By leaving so much options for who could have betrayed the Peaky Blinders and pretty much leaving everyone from the main cast open to die, they managed that well and didnt hold back either in creating consequences that exceed the already known - a fan favorite's death. Us potentially knowing about Mosely actually plays well into the theme of the season, whether Thommy will find his match. We know, that his plan will fail, but we dont know, what effect this will have on Thommy (which is why his potential downfall as the leader and suicide are side plots) and whether he can manage to survive the consequences and what that will take.
