Yeha it looks like a school project gone a bit wrong. I suppose if it's your thing then great, but I like my guitars finished properly and without a silly trem that damages the top. It just looks so cheap and nasty - I could easily imagine this being an amazon 99 dollar special.

I had one of these. It's a 2016. The Floyd Rose FRX is good. The tension spring is very strong and precise, so you can't "flick it to get the cricket." I didn't like how the Gibson bag bends with the guitar in it. Gator makes a case that will accommodate it for $135. Sometimes I would flip the pickup toggle and the sound would die out completely. My luthier said the switch was a little bit too big for the hole. I could then get a smaller switch, or mod the hole a bit. EDIT: On mine, the pickup switch had its own compartment. So this one is different in that regard. Sold it a few years ago. It's definite worth checking out!

Here’s an idea: Replace the Floyd Rose bridge, but keep the locking nut - and use a TB-6 tailpiece with its extra set of fine tuners. Now there’s a Les Paul that won’t go out of tune!

I have TP6 tailpieces on all my Gibson’s. I even modified my ESP to take a USA Gibson made TP6. Love em. I have lots of guitars with Floyd’s. So I’m used to tuning at the bridge anyways.

I’ve had an ah cm black since they came out and I love it and all those it is technically a top mount floyd rose. It really doesn’t act like a Floyd at all. Plus there is a thumb wheel to lock the bridge to where is no longer floats. It’s my favorite guitar besides my Gibson V and my Dimebags.

I have a 2016 CMT LP, and it’s one of my favourites! Nothing to think about, just play :) It has a 61 Trembucker, and is the perfect rock guitar for me. Can’t imagine I’ll ever sell that one, and it’s starting to look amazing as it wears :)

Made my own CM, our of a Epiphone Prophecy, I picked up in SLC UT. Lucky for me the pickups were swapped for SD Seth E Lover hummers. Made the front height adjusting screws set on 1/2 Brass plugs for tone. Modded the front pickup to 4 wire, from 2, & I have a BIG LEG CIRCUTS, J. Page solderless wiring harness with all the goodies... 24 frets of UNCANNY SWAGGER....

@The Trogly's Guitar Show Trog, traditionally on furniture and a particularly cool 1958 full console Conn 815-Classic organ I have, they used limestone dust to fill the grain. Hence 'Limed Oak' in the case of my organ. The dusty texture repels the applied finish. My Conn looks about the same yellowed white as a '74 LP.

You need to watch Floyd Roses video on how this trem system operates. He goes over the whole thing in detail. It's actually better than an original FR. It offers more options. Plus if you dont feel like using it anymore can always switch back to the Tune O and stop tail. I think it's pretty cool. I want one.

period correct ibanez V2 pickups also have double rows of pole pieces, its a ceramic magnet hot style metal pickup used in a lot of guitars between 77-84. Its a Japanese dirty fingers. Maxon design.

12:09 ... umm, those are not the intonation screws. If anything, they sit in front of the saddle. You loosen the screw and move the saddle...

I think the "Dirty Fingers +" pickups are actually what they market as "Dirty Fingers SM" which have a single magnet of ceramic 8. The old DF pickups had 3 standard ceramic magnets. I don't know if it's "hotter' but it's voiced differently and in my opinion, they are more musical and sound better with the volume rolled down.

Interestingly they used the FRX trem but they installed a "regular" locking nut instead of the locking nut that goes behind the stock nut and requires more drilling in the headstock...

I seen those FRX systems installed at my guitar guys shop. If the arch is too strong on the top of the guitar the system won't work so you have to take a scoop out of the body. Ekkkkk! Definitely a trem system for a flat top guitar.😐

I have an FRX on an explorer and it doesn’t go back to zero after using. I haven’t messed with it too much but so far I’m not impressed. It’s functioning like a $20 Floyd you get off of Amazon. Maybe when I have a couple hours to spend on it I can get it working properly but after getting a basic install and intonation is less than reliable.

Most trems work best with lubrication. They say white lithium grease on the knife edges is best. I've used vaseline and it makes the difference between uttrrly useless to perfectly balanced and in tune.

The paint job and body is cool, but the Floyd rose is NOT worth the maintenance (coming from someone who has owned a Floyd rose).
