+++ Get Featured in an upcoming video +++ I’m working on a new video showing how different Pro Landscape Photographers are editing the same Raw image. I also want to include YOU, the viewers this time around! If you want to participate you can find the raw photo here: drive.google.com/drive/folder... Simply edit this image in your style and then post the finished Version in this newly created Subreddit: www.reddit.com/r/PhotoEditing... (Reddit allows us to view the images in higher resolution and is better for future discussions) Video will be online in October. Thanks for participating! 🙂

It's interesting that Tony Kuyper, the inventor of the Luminosity Masks, suggests in his site a similar trick in PS. He selects the basic midtones as mask, and applies a Curve adjustment layer with a drastic S-curve, getting what he defines a 'Fuji Velvia effect'.

I like what you did with the mid-tone luminance range mask. I previously did this type of edit in Photoshop with a luminosity mask created with the TK9 panel. I would prefer to do this on my raw file instead. Thank you for this great lesson.
@ThePhlogPhotography3 ай бұрын
Doing it in Photoshop with luminositiy masks is the way to go if you want high quality, ultra precise masks! I love the TK Panel :-) Sometimes I'm just lazy and rely on Lightrooms masks to do the job in poorer quality and hopefully nobody will notice :-)

Christian, You have illustrated briefly how to make the foreground and the background appear with a slight sheen by using Luminance Range Mask of the Lightroom. Then the wooden stake and the forests are getting luminous with a glimmering light. Your inspiration of mid-tones contrasting effects is brilliant and helpful to me. I am so thankful to you for your outstanding presentation! I learned more from you. Thank you so much for your beautiful and spectacular photos!

Thank you very much for yet another great video. You really make those landscapes pop. Is it a reason you chose to crop the image yourself after doing the transformation instead of using the 'Constrain Crop' check box in the bottom of that panel?
@ThePhlogPhotography23 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment! I usually prefer to crop myself to have some more control over it

You should try to edit HDR merged photos with HDR edit on, this brings the editing to another level, plus every mobile screen is HDR (and socials now supports HDR avif images).
@ThePhlogPhotography2 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment, unfortunately, I dont have an HDR display at the moment, but I will definetely check that out in the future!

Thanks for the great lesson, Master! Why do you highlight the sky through the color range and not through an intelligent sky mask? After all, sometimes there may be blue objects and surfaces on the ground. You will have to do an extra operation to edit the mask by erasing it.
@ThePhlogPhotography3 ай бұрын
I just wanted to target the blue parts of the sky to not affect the white clouds in a strange way, otherwise you can of course use the sky mask to be a little quicker! :-)

Very good job, Christian, as always. I highly appreciate all the details of your process so the things looks very easy to pick up. If it not a secret, where did you get this scenic shot?

Ask yourself how an image makes you feel. It’s personal preference but I liked the natural moody shot. I mean it’s a dead tree stump…

When you merge all the hdr RAW images, is the merged file RAW?
@evanwilliams43513 ай бұрын
It creates a DNG file (Digital Negative) which is a type of RAW file, it still gives the ability to process it like a RAW file 👍
@ThePhlogPhotography3 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late respons,e but I guess you already got the answer by evanwilliams4351 :-) its in fact somekind of raw file!

I try to explain in detail so it gets clear what my intentions are and why I do things so it hopefully gets easier to understand for beginners

Did you use focus stacking on this image to get the sharpness all around?
@ThePhlogPhotography3 ай бұрын
I did not focus stack on this image :-)
@sepp98763 ай бұрын
Sorry, but I think this is horrible. You took away the whole natural look and lightning. Clarity overdone and even applied to the same area multiple time on different layers (because you love the soft look ;). This image just looks overedited and lost all the natural beauty of photography now. Less is more. Just my 2 cents.
