Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. He had so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Turn The Page", "Mainstreet", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "Against The Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon", "Roll Me Away", "Like A Rock", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight" & "Old Time Rock & Roll".

Bob Seegers a singer/songwriter and his greatest hit, and signature song is "Night Moves" (1976). It's about teenage love making back in the 60's. And what it was like trying to fine the time or place to make woopie. And the summertime was the best time to be a teenager. One of the greatest ballads of being a teen. And having found memories of how life was simple then... You cannot go wrong in going down the rabbit hole that is the great Bob Seeger.

I need to play this whenever I get discouraged. I used to get teased listening to country music as a black teen growing up in the 70's. So happy to see I'm not a rare case, lol. There is a group of African-American women who call themselves, OUR NATIVE DAUGHTERS. They play bluegrass/folk music and they are amazing. Please react to their song, "QUESHEBA, QUESHEBA", (pronounced KA-SHE-BA).🎄

In 1988, at the age of 18, I joined the Army, went through Basic Training and AIT. This song perfectly embodies how I felt when I graduated from that training. How I could stand, ay attention under the blazing Oklahoma sun, lean, strong, and proud. Two wars, a family, higher education, working in the corporate world, later...I am not that arrow straight when I stand, now. My walk is no longer swift and light. But I remember that time. Sometimes, all these years later, it barely feels real.

Just a guy in the world here, going indiscriminately about his business. My 'nickname' at work is 'old man Mike'... Who knew I once ran a 4:26 mile (average)... I sit here in the dark bathed in the light of my laptop and recall... when I was 19 I was running a 20 pound pneumatic chisel up and down the underside of a fuel station M frame on board a haze gray AOE auxiliary in a sleeveless pair of coveralls and an white onix cross about my open tanned collar. Every once in a while I'd a glance at the horizon across the glass surface of the Indian Ocean with clear Hazel eyes, breathing in the salt air, standing tall on the floor of the scaffolding, swaying gently with my sea legs solid beneath me. Proud, honored to serve you and honorable, like a rock, I was something to see folks. Something to see... God Bless You.

Now that I'm 72 I can relate to this song more each passing year. 1969 I had a brief summer before I entered the service in mid-July. Those months were filled with excitement, transition, a brief romantic relationship and a new-found sense of purpose. I was changing and my future was unfolding in directions I sometimes didn't expect. Responsibility crept into my life and stayed with me to the present. But those younger days were generally free from responsibility till I entered the service. I look back on that summer often now realizing that my strength was already there but was untested. I've been willingly responsible for 50+ years but I've come to learn being carefree without responsibility is pretty freakin' nice. Oh to be young again for one brief summer.
