@hmeyers51147 ай бұрын
Glad to see you back at it, Ryan! You are really new to all this, and it can seem overwhelming. It takes courage and tenacity and a lot of persistence to see through a project like this. We all know: 💖💖YOU CAN DO IT!!! 💖💖 Get a pad and paper, or white board, and plan out the stages of the project you can do on your own without help in one column. In the another column, put the things you need help/tools/resources and list them. That way, you can easily see which projects you can be chipping away at on your own, which projects need few resources that can be shared with others, and which ones you need extra humans/bigger tools/$$$ to complete. Get some OSB you can take up and down to temporarily plank floors as you need to. Do clean your stairs daily. Walking on them was the most hazardous activity in your house as there is nowhere to safely fall. 🤯 Save up for some basic, essential tools: powerful reversible drill, circular saw, levels, square/straight edge, screwdrivers, hammers, shop vacuum. Even if you are on your own, you can start mortaring the walls. Start at the bottom and work your way up. Using your temporary OSB sheathing, you can work your way around the beams you've put in. Every bit helps, and it all needs to be done eventually! Set yourself a manageable daily goal, such as 5 buckets of mortar/day. If it were me, I'd concentrate on the tea area. Clean it, mortar/plaster it, put up some cheap curtains and paint. If you have just one area complete where you can take a break it makes the entire project soooo much easier! I'd do the ground floor toilet plumbing, next, just so you have a decent flushing toilet and sink. Billy has a few (!!!) extras from the convent. A wonderful man I knew who worked as a gardener/workman on estates around WWI gave me excellent advice. 💥💥When you are working, always face the parts you've finished, not what needs to be done.💥💥 It is so encouraging to see what you can, and have, successfully accomplished. An "atta boy" with every glance! You have 80,000 people who know you can do this. Don't doubt yourself. Pick a random subscriber's name and pretend you are them for the day. Much easier than having to do it in your own body/brain. 😘🤣

Nick may have been gracious about helping you clean up that mess but it was not the most productive use of his expertise and time. It’s like inviting a master chef over to cook a meal and expecting him to do all your dirty dishes first. Clean work site=safe work site. It may not be ‘your thing’ but it seems to be the thing of the people helping you! @@janetpendlebury6808 I wasn’t being rude, I was being frank. He is a young whipper snapper new to this type of renovation and I wish the best for him.
