As a reward for passionately searching for the Truth during all those years, Marc got to witness the 59 seconds run, rightfully on his own. Deservedly so as during his journey he has reached spiritual levels that us, lesser mortals can only dream about. But The Silo Agent 59 itself is so special that even Marc himself got to experience it fully only once and likely no one will ever again. So in my view, this is a reasonable turn of events here, this is how it *_had to_* happen. We all know it, we all have to accept it.

As someone who doesn't speedrun Goldeneye and just enjoys spectating and listening to the speedrun lore from the veterans, Mark R became my favorite runner a few years back. So much mystery and drama but at the same time someone you know has so much dedication and skill for the game. He is a "absolute legend" truly and sad to see him not able to record his 59 record which was probably real but like goose said probably wouldn't have even happened without the twitch ban. Don't ever quit Mark, you have the skill to get untieds in Golden Eye, good luck man.

However, scholars continued to visit the library for centuries afterward his little escapade (he also knocked up Cleopatra during the siege.) The sadder truth is, the library just slowly degraded over large stretches of time, and as the city's rulers passed from Greek to Roman to Christian and then to Muslim hands. In 413 CE they even executed a mathematician for studying ancient Greek texts found in the library because they viewed math as blasphemous (probably because the book of Genesis says pi = 3.) It was more of a slow degradation, and the actual "fire" is more metaphorical for irreparable loss of knowledge in general.

a story about me, i was playing a level in a game (acu in geometry dash if anyone was curious) and i was not strictly recording, but i was using the obs replay buffer feature so i could *clip* if i beat the level. and i did end up beating the level. however tragedy struck, it turned out i set the time to clip to 30 seconds instead of 300 so all that remains is my reaction. thankfully i ended up caking the rebeat, fluking it in the process, but even still!

I know people don't care as much about new categories but when Joker was released in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate while practicing I got an untied WR on my fourth attempt. I had barely played Joker an the category for a few minutes then so I wasn't expecting a WR, but I got it and I wasn't recording. I ended up tying the record, a frame away from an untied, and it took me over 100 attempts to untie it. Then sadly, it was beaten a day later. So even when you least expect it I guess you should always record.

Well, if one plays for 12 hours every day failing over and over and over again, I think it would be tedious to remember to record those 12 hour sessions every single time. I am sure there were plenty of previous times when he didn't do whatever was necessary to record for the day before he started and on all those other days, it never really mattered. When he sat down that day, he probably figured it would be his 500th day in a row of repeatedly getting 1:00 to 1:05.
