Look up "MLB Squeeze bunts" and watch players able to bunt balls 3 feet out the zone or in the dirt. If a manager makes that call, it's on the player to do everything in his power to bunt it on the ground...but here, that was the worst form I've ever seen on a bunt. His hips were behind his knees trying to reach a pitch on the outside, go ahead and practice that yourself. Just terrible.

That is the most selfish thing you could say. What did that batter do? He squared super late on a squeeze and was leaning towards 1st vase line instead of doing his job: getting the bunt down. He was busy starting to run...pause the video when the ball crossed the plate and you see the batter's hips behind his knees...now try that yourself, it's impossible bc it's terrible execution on something that little league players can do perfectly. And no, his managing style that has won him a WS and a career above .500 record is to not sugarcoat anything. If you failed the team, he'll let you know. The Angels have not been good for a long time. Washington can't work miracles with terrible players. Cole Tucker is designated for assignment- no surprise there. The mariners have offered Tucker a coaching job, which, he should accept. It will still keep him around the game. Perhaps Washington believed he could take a poor-hitting team and magically turn them into winners. I would like to see them get good. The Baltimore Orioles rebuilt team is playing so much better. Someone needs to figure out how to make the Angels competitive and fix bad swinging.

To those that blame the bunt attempt. The pitch was WAY off of the plate, but the suicide squeeze was on and he had to attempt to bunt it. From a cross firing lefty pitcher to a lefty batter that was about as tough a pitch to bunt as you can get. Washington should have just said they rolled the dice and lost!

A suicide squeeze isn't the same thing as a typical "bunt" call. The hitter's job is to get the bat on the ball by any means necessary as a means of protecting the runner stealing home (even if he has to throw the bat at it). The hitter actually screwed up by not doing that. Washington could've worded that better, but it truly isn't his fault

I've never seen a manager throw a player under the bus this hard, he got so defensive. Most managers will take that on the chin and move on, they wanna protect their guys from the media usually.

I was at this game. He absolutely didn’t do his job. Wash isn’t wrong to say that. Luis knows he didn’t do his job either. When the squeeze is on, you have to make contact, whether it’s fair or foul, you can’t hang the runner out to dry.
