You clearly have a musical heart and emotional ear as this is-I believe-Dimash's greatest vocal performance. The vocal precision and emotional expression are unsurpassed and bring tears to the eyes of every listener who has a heart! This performance is a "tour-de-force" of every emotional expression and brilliant vocal technique that I have ever seen. Many experts and vocal technicians will point to this performance and say ' This is how GOD would sing a song"!!

this and one he did when he was on the singing contest in 2017 are awesome this one was sung in Japanese ..( a new language he is using) and the other was sung in perfect Mandarin .. so much so that when native Mandarin speakers listen to it they thought he was a native speaker. it just shows the dedication he puts into every song he sings .. the other song was Autum Strong

DIMASH is the first singer I have heard in my vast years of life, that doesn't make one iota if you don't have the lyrics or a traslation ; he still pulls you into a feeling that you undertand it all. That is a great power that is hard to describe to others unfamiliar with him. Some people call him an angel , some an alien; but he is definately different from what we know about others in the world of music.

Great reaction! If you want another song in studio, I suggest Samaltau (version Tokyo Jazz Festival, 2020). This is the song that Dimash considers the most difficult for him, because of the emotional implications. It's important to know the background of the song, about the kazakh men forced to leave their home to fight in World War I.

This version "Ikanaide" (行かないで) ) is the original, from 1989, composed by Koji Tamaki (famous Japanese singer, born in 1958) with lyrics by Goro Matsui. The version "Autumn Strong" (Late Autumn), sung in Chinese, uses the same song, but has another lyrics (Yaqui Cheung, from 1993) and another theme: It talks about the Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamagushi, very dear to the Chinese, who was deported when they discovered her Japanese origin (his real name was Li Xiang Lan and we're talking about World War II, where Japan was China's enemy) and never returned to China. In the original version, the lyrics are more intimate, sentimental and more recognized worldwide. It means: "Please don't go!". Actually she did return in the 1970s, after the rapprochement between the West and China. Here's a fairly detailed biography of Yoshiko Yamaguchi. She became a Member of Parliament in Japan and a diplomat. Your original post here is a little mixed up...if I may. The actress I believe was born in China but of Japanese heritage. You state her real name as the Chinese one. That's incorrect. She acted in China as a Chinese actress under the Chinese name. Her real name of course, was the Japanese name. In any event, the Chinese loved her until as the war ended, her true heritage was discovered. Most people dont comprehend now or understand the history of the times, the Japanese soilders were extremely brutal to the Chinese during the war, civilians included. As well as allied POWs captured and forced into labor camps until they died. The Chinese people felt betrayed and considered her a spy. She was very lucky to have been allowed to live and was deported. Later on, as emotions cooled, it became apparent that the actress certainly wasnt a spy and had loved China as her only home. So...the story and the song became both a sad love song of parting as well as a song of reflection and regret for the Chinese people for expelling an actress that had meant so much to them. Mark

The song is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. She became famous in China. However, once the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy and she was deported back to Japan and didn't go back to China for many years, as it was forbidden at that time. Ms Yamaguchi did return to China in her later years as the Japanese Parliamentary Vice Minister of Environment. This song is saying goodbye to her Chinese name Li Xianglan. The song is a metaphor, as lyrics speak of how a person has to hide what feels inside.

This was another very enjoyable reaction. This is quickly becoming one if not the favorite Dimash performance for me and it invokes a very visceral response in me, just as "Ave Maria" did. I believe this actually was a live performance in that Dimash sang "Ikanaide" live for the Tokyo Jazz Festival Live stream in January of 2021 as it was being recorded. As someone else pointed out, he performed Ikanaide from his studio in Beijing where he was going through a month of quarantine before taking part in the “Shine Super Brothers” TV show. According to several native Japanese speakers, Dimash's pronunciation of the lyrics is nearly flawless. One native speaker, who gave a detailed analysis, stated that he is "expressing Japanese more (better) than Japanese" and that he does not only perfectly pronounce Japanese but "expresses Japanese…with Japanese emotion.". Goro Matsui, who wrote the lyrics to "Ikanaide," posted on his Twitter account that he has never heard a foreigner sing in Japanese in such a beautiful way. Tamaki Kōji composed the music and performed the song in 1989. "Ikanaide" became the title song for the Chinese-Japanese TV series "Farewell, Li Xianglan," filmed that year. It is the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress and singer during World War II who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends, she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched. She resettled in Japan, where she would continue to enjoy a successful acting career. In the 1950s, she moved her acting career to Hollywood and Broadway under the name Shirley Yamaguchi but returned to Japan in 1959, retiring from acting. She would go on to become a TV presenter and eventually a politician. She did not return to China for nearly 20 years. In 1990, "Ikanaide" was translated into Cantonese and sung by Jacky Cheung using the same melody. Later, the song was rewritten and translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin under the title "Late Autumn." In 2004 the Taiwanese singer Terry Lin adapted the song into a new version titled "In Deep Autumn," with lyrics written by Daryl Yao. Dimash chose the 2004 Taiwanese version arranged by Terry Lin with Mandarin lyrics for his performance at the 2017 "I Am A Singer" competition but gave it his own interpretation and titled it "Autumn Strong." This song went on to earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during the Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong. Here are the original lyrics to "Ikanaide": Ikanaide (ee-kanaa-eedayy) Please Don't Go Away by Koji Tamaki Nothing visible, nothing I have been crying throughout Not because I feel sorrowful But because of the delight of feeling your warmth Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Please don't ever ever let us separate Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Let's remain this way Someday your heart will be somewhere afar That everything will turn into memory Though it's better not to know Though it's better not to know Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Whenever it is, don't let us separate Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Let's remain this way

👉 Dimash sang Ikanaide (live and for the first time in Japanese) on the Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2021(in his studio). Because of the pandemic, the annual Tokyo Jazz Festival took place online again. Filmmakers verify that the videos have not been edited and manipulated, so the singer sings live. In 2020 Dimash also participated in the famous annual Tokyo Online Festival with 2 songs: * S.O.S. - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZWuinelprB_hpo * Samaltau - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXbcfayBjJKajbs The sad true story of this song... very touching: It is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi (*1920-2014), a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan and became famous in China. However, when the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy. She was deported to Japan and longed for China. Ms. Yamaguchi did not return to China until many years as deputy environment minister in the Japanese parliament. The song is a metaphor as the lyrics speak of how a person should hide what they are feeling. The original Japanese version Ikanaide/ Please Don’t Go (composed 1989) is by Koji Tamaki, *1958, Japanese songwriter. Koji Tamaki sent a wonderful message to Dimash, thanking him, and praising him for singing his song in Japanese. Vbloggers, they reacted to the original by Koji Tamaki, they are mesmerized and can't stop listening to him. He wrote many wonderful melodies - you should check it out: Koji Tamaki 2021, Ikanaide - kzbin.info/www/bejne/haHKn4BogsiWebM Dimash's Japan Fan Club asked the famous Japanese author of 'Ikanaide' Goro Matsui about his emotions at Dimash performance. It's one of his favorite songs: "… I heard Dimash singing "Ikanaide" by accident. The first thing that impressed me was his crystal clear tone and expressive voice. I heard other Asian artists perform the song many times, but despite their magnificent vocal skills, none seemed to capture the true meaning of the original lyrics. In the chorus of the song, the line "Ah, Ikanaide" is repeated several times. And although these are the same words, each line has a different meaning. And it seems to me that Dimash felt it. " In 1993, Jacky Cheung (*1961, singer and actor in Hongkong) adapted the song into Chinese Mandarin, calling it Late Autumn: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqWwY3ipnK13aa8 The Chinese (Autuumn Strong) and Japanese (Ikanaide/ Please, Don’t Go) versions have completely different lyrics and meanings… and of course Dimash sings both very differently. Both are based on a same true story. The Chinese version shows the image of leaves dancing in the autumn wind as a metaphor for how fate affected Yoshiko Yamaguchi's life. ...sad but inevitable and irrevocably The Japanese version does not want to accept the loss, is full of pain, pleads, suffers ... heartbreaking. I'm totally mesmerized by how sensitively Dimash differentiates and conveys to the listener the feelings of sadness and loneliness in the Chinese version and loss and pain in the Japanese version. Even his whispers and his breath are music... it breaks my heart and the tears flow... and at the end everyone suddenly holds their breath, we hear Dimash breathing, then a deep and comforting hum. I've never heard anything like it from a singer in my entire life. Only Dimash can do that. This is true mastery. * The most famous interpretation In China (first performance at the Singer 2017) was that of Dimash Qudaibergen and it was his first time to sing in Chinese mandarin: Autuumn Strong - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZ7MY5aMns-Xg9E This song brought Dimash the 'Best Foreign Singer' award at the Golden Melody Award 2017 (equivalent to the Grammy) in Hong Kong. * Great performance (Chinese version) of Dimash from Kiev 11.03.2020, the last concert before Corona paralyzed everything: Autumn Strong - kzbin.info/www/bejne/amSaenipea6NnKc * Other version of Dimash: In Moscow on March, 2019 - Autumn Strong - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5bag2t4pMhlZ6s (Thanks to all Dears who helped to complete the information)

When he is live in front of the audience his emotions and improvisations and connection to the audience simply kill me. Personally for me nothing beats his live emotions on stage. Also, towards the end of this song in his concert he often removes the microphone and you can hear his voice resonate in the entire venue.

I also recommend Daybreak. There are two versions of this song. But please🙏🙏🙏🙏 react to the version from The Singer competition first. I highly recommend you to watch the version with the story behind on the Gloria Wu channel and then the one from his Bastau concert. It was the 8th performance of this competition. I don’t think there are copyright issues, because the videos on this channel are already edited. I think you will appreciate the Bastau version even more if you’ve seen The Singer version before. As somebody mentioned in a comment, that it is always very frustrating when reactors jump on the Bastau version and don’t know the sad story of this song and don’t even try to activate the subtitles. I can understand that a lot of Dears prefer reactions to this version because it is just incredibly more powerful. In my opinion, however, it loses at bit of its impression, if you don’t know why he sings, the way he sings. This song tells a very sad but true story. You really have to watch this with subtitles. It’s really important to know what the song is about. In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again. It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. The Bastau version (no sore throat) of Daybreak is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. Maybe you can do both together. Many reactors do and so you can see the difference between this two performances. In both versions I always cry my eyes out. I don’t know why I have to cry more. Because of the story or the fact, that he was in such pain and performed anyway because he didn’t want to disappoint the audience. Both version were in the same year 2017. Gloria Wu: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4mqd2qsnKqMgc0 However the video has a dropout towards the end. So don’t panic. Nothing is broken😁 Bastau version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJy9hX2ggdR3bJY Please first The Singer then the Bastau version🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. Or both together😉 Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

Ikanaide means 'don't go' and has a sad but true backstory. If you want to know about it, all you have to do is react to Autumn Strong from Gloria Wu channel with backstory. It’s the same song but here he sings this song in Mandarin with slightly different lyrics. Or I'm sure another Dear will explain the story😅. Autumn Strong: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIm0ZmuLYqqXmsk Ikanaide (the original) was written by the Japanese singer Koji Tamaki in 1989. This song is sooo beautiful❤️. And he performed it with so much emotions. You literally can feel his pain😪. His first song in Japanese. He has been invited to perform at the Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2021. But he couldn't go to Japan because of Covid. So he had to sing it from the studio in China. There he took part in the show Shine! Super Brothers. I’m not sure but I think it was his studio in China. But I do know he got a studio as a gift for his birthday. If the Japanese reactors are to be believed, Dimash sang in perfect Japanese. Some also claimed that it was better Japanese than many Japanese themselves😅. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp6wXpWmarV1aZY Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

This is my Fave! I love his natural singing voice, which he displays beautifully in this. The belting is phenominal. I don't need the vocal acrobats all the time. His natural voice is silky smooth and very sexy!

It hits ya' in the feels', doesn't it.....This is one of my faves as well. You mentioned that you could hear his breath. I've heard this before with him, but it is especially clear in the quiet of the studio , using such a high fidelity mike. It was like you could hear the notes trail off and still detect his vocal chords vibrating even though the tone was so soft as to be inaudible. JUst thinking about it gives me chicken skin (what we call goose bumps in the islands). Great reaction btw....

🗣️🎶 Astonishing. The fragility of voice and emotion he conveys through technique in this song about vulnerability. Still speechless after 12 years, enjoy your 12 Maddy ! ❤️ He deserves it, and great luck on your channel !!

Second visit to your channel. Both Dimash. Loved how you just let his performance connect with you. It's rare for most reactors. Loved your reaction. Most cant wait for Dimash to show his vocal gymnastics and simply dont know how to appreciate a performance like this. Dont apologize for loving this extremely beautiful performance. You might want to check out the first time Dimash performed this song in the 2017 China competition show I Am Singer. Ikanaide is the original Japanese version. Dimash first performed the song 2017 in the he Chinese version of the same song and story under the title Autumn Strong / Late Autumn. He performed it in Mandarin for his Chinese audience as a tribute for the love they had shown him during that competition. I suggest you view the long version from the Gloria Wu channel that includes as intro the famous backstory of the song and Dimash preparing for his performance. The song subtitles are weak but better than nothing. The intro tho explains why the song was important to Dimash as well as the Chinese people. Dimash was worried his Mandarin would be bad. He had only one week to learn the song phonetically. It was amazing. My favorite performance ever by Dimash. The emotional connection between Dimash and his Chinese competitors,.judges and audience is epic. Thank you for sharing Dimash. Sorry this is so long. Hugs. Mark

Breathtaking song. The original by Koji Tamaki is wonderful and very emotional but Dimash's version is just awesome. No one transfers emotions like Dimash. OmG!

I love your emotional reactions to Dimash, Maddy, & that beautiful smile makes them even better! Also, I think you might be the first reactor to pronounce the song title correctly, without being coached first by the Dears lol. Do you speak a little Japanese? Words like "magnificent", "stupendous", "incredible", "unbelievable", "tremendous", "monumental", "fabulous", "stunning", "remarkable", etc, etc seem to fall flat when attempting to describe Dimash, don't they? There's really some fantastic talent out there nowadays, but Dimash is THE muical artist of our time!🔥🔥🤯

The most moving performance by Dimash for me is 'Qaragym Ai', sung in a special concert as a tribute to the late Kenes Duisekeev, who was both a mentor and teacher to him. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fprPp4iFhLWFrKc

He sings differently here because he's no longer focused on the crowd and being an entertainer. Instead he's fully focused on the song, and being an story singer. I also like it when he sings in the studio. It more of an immersive experience.

Hey Maddey, your expressive respond to 'Ikanaide' is nothing short of heart felt Blue written all over your blossoming teenage Face, waiting to become a beautiful Woman like the grace of a Sunflower in the Garden of life itself. Heaven forbid ,'Ikanaide' song will surely to unmask the romantic Woman in you tomorrow.💓
