This MICRO-softbait catches everything! (NZ Kayak Fishing)

Hello and welcome to Basic Fishing from New Zealand. In this video I was out on the kayak again and the objective was to see how much fish I was able to land with the Z-man TRD minnow and this lure proved deadly especially on the big kahawai school that were present.

How often would you say you find kahawai workups around there this time of year? I usually go rangitoto side and haven't run into any for a while!

mostly during autumn but i have found a few odd ones during winter b4 just gotta keep an eye out

What bait do you youse for mackerel on the wharf on sabkis

pilchard or mussel but normally i try to jig sabiki with no baits. far less messy and effective

Do you think a kahawai would take a softbait if it was rigged for surf casting?

i mean u could give it a try. ive seen a video of it done b4 although some people (i've done this before too) rig a small fly popper/salt water fly with no bait on their ledger rig and often got a kahawai on it
