Neumanns are great mics…..however it’s not a must have. I ended up ditching my TLM103 just because it was so detailed it picked up all the imperfections of my room. My Shure SM7b ended up being better for my recording environment (not saying it’s a superior mic, it just worked better for me).
@bigacreations7 ай бұрын
Exactly! I think it’s popular for a reason, but you can glean the best results by making the best microphone choice for what you do specifically.

I've heard that for people who don't have a good soundproofing or sound-absorbing environment , if the microphone sensitivity is too high, it can be bad because it picks up the sound of the air conditioner, reverberation, and even outside noise. (I've never used a high quality microphone so I have no experience testing it..) In any case, it's a good idea to improve my vocal skills. An artist like you with a high quality microphone would be a double advantage!

Thank you! Yes-these are all things to be aware of when shopping for a microphone, recording environment, use case, etc

Not to sound like Im promoting for them, but thats exactly why I bought Clarity by Waves, I have no idea how they did it but its really amazing at getting rid of background noise, and they have another one that gets rid of reverb ( I forget what its called off the top of my head ) that I haven't gotten yet, but Clarity definitely got rid of the fan noise from my Intel MacBook when it was my main computer .

87 has more low end. 87 waveform shows more signal. I owned the Rode NT1A when it was first introduced. I just didn't like it for my room. I ended up with a TLM 103. It just works, as long as I record in a near dead space.

I own one, it’s more mid focused, brings the mids to the front and the high end is smooth

Nice video, just subscribed to your channel, I have the Rode Nt1A and for the price I have no complaints at all, I have the Neumann TLM 103 also, imo yes, it sounds better but the Rode defintetely gets the job done after some eq, compression etc, I like your song and voice too btw

I love this song! Generally when channels like this show their music, it's not for me. This song on the other hand, fantastic. On another note, if you were to break it down into a percentage, how much would you weigh room treatment vs the mic itself? Unless you're an audio engineer (I'm assuming that you are one), you can't hide all of the bad frequencies that a room can pick up. If you can make your Rode NT1a sound that incredible, you obviously know exactly what you're doing. I have a Rode NT1 5th Generation, and we have a hate-hate relationship, to say the least... I've watched TONS of KZbin videos over the past few years, and most of the videos teaching about plugins/mics/etc, generally don't have particularly good audio (even Dan Worrall and Mike Russell's audio both come in WAY too hot, like I'm listening to spicy cinnamon candy). How are you getting such perfect audio on your KZbin channel?
@bigacreations7 ай бұрын
Thank you! Glad you like the song :) I’m not an audio engineer, though I’ve learned a few things over 15 years of mixing and mastering my own music. The RodeNt1a definitely has flaws, but once you learn how to mix for it, what you’re recording, and the space your recording in-it’s actual a fantastic mic. Getting the input levels right in your recording makes a huge difference too.

but nothing against Neumann tho , this is not a bash , a lot of great records been cut with them, but what your paying for at this day and age is the name , modern technology evolved and is much more advanced no that u can get away using less expensive gear .
