Normally don't comment on videos but I can't help myself. Last year I bought a low mileage, completely stock 3003 Honda 919. I bought it because I always wanted one, and based on the great 919 videos on YM. It was in great condition, but needed deep clean and polish to bring it back to looking like new. No dings or dents, just dirty. I have been riding it quite a bit, but ended moving recently and lost garage space. I'm not kidding, I was about ready to list it, and then I saw this video. I was already dreading selling, so this video turned that around. I will really be looking for your updates. Great job with the channel!!!!

Up until last September when it was stolen, I had the 600 faired version of the Hornet for more or less exactly 20 years. The 600 is the same size as the 900 only the power is slightly less. The 600 handled like it was on rails and with a 4 into 1 pipe with the baffles out, it sounded majestic. The 600 engine was based on the late 90's CBR600 and the 900 was based on a detuned version of the 919 Fireblade. I had the UK version of CB600FS with a fairing and it was Cobalt Blue. Oh how I miss it, I felt alive when I rode it............

I'm currently looking at some used Hondas to consider as a first bike (mostly 600-750 cc class - I learned to ride and got my licence on a pretty tame 650cc naked from Yamaha) but man, diving into Hondas model numbers can be confusing. The fact that a CB600F and a CBF600 are totally different animals was confusing as hell to me ;p Most annoying aspect of finding a nice used bike so far? Used prices having gone up a lot in the past years (literally, a LOT) and choosing between either an affordable bike in decent condition or shelling out way too much for one with at least ABS and the likes is a brain breaker for a newb like myself. Old newb btw (34).

Never ridden one, might do so at some point. There should be quite a lot of them here still. Loving the fact you are gonna make a series of it with modifications and enjoy the bike as well. Nowadays all you see around YT is newer bike stuff, and I like that but older bikes 70's,80's,90's,00's,10's and everything in between and after tend to be left alone but those are bikes collectors, enthusiasts or newer or even veteran riders buy as a first bike used, or a returning used bike for nostalgia reason and whatsoever. Interesting as well, based on the specs of the Hornet it generates more torque then my Z750, but I do have a bit more hp. But mine does have a real nice mid punch. I wish you could ride one. Not sure if the z800 or z900 are any close to specs or rideability with my 08 Z750, if so you might have ridden one already and now what I mean on how it rides. Looking forward seeing more content on this!

That also uncorks the top end a little bit by adding 7hp up top. I've got an adjustable Hagon mono shock on the rear and I custom mixed oil for the front forks( and dropped them 10mm through the triples) with uprated springs....now it rails quite nicely. The frame is the limitation now. Nice wide aftermaket bars too....with frame slider if I drop it to protect the unobtainable tank. It's a great bike, I love 919's too. I've got a ton more mods I haven't mentioned...

Awesome a Hornet!!! Would love to ride one of those and see how it feels. Van is shaping up nicely too, everything is getting more polished with the channel and videos. Paint that garage, and hang up some more lights it'll make a big difference for the polish of the videos.

I was literally given one by a co-worker who was being sent over seas for his next job. Unbeknownst to he had had it for about 3 years and had never ridden it. It sat outside his home covered. Unfortunately he lived about a half mile from the gulf of Mexico. It had been blown over a few times and had acquired some tank dents. The bike had turpentine in the gas tank. No air in the tires and had the general appearance of some rusted artifact brought up from the titanic. The tank was removed and thorough t cleaned. The fuel injectors were removed and sent to some outfit in south Florida for a complete makeover. All fluids changed, reassembly, and fresh fuel revealed one fine running motorcycle. Add new tires and chain to the mix before riding. The bike was a flat black color. It had the same small windscreen yours had on tinted a funny shade of brown. Optional crack at point of attachment to the bars. Oh, and the original seat was in pretty good shape. Although visually imperfect, functionally, it was a joy to ride. Wonderful engine, good handling, and adequate brakes. It was similar to my 05 zrx1200r so there was no real adjustment period for me. The exhaust smell, as you mention, is common to these bikes. Only bad when you get off and smell your clothes. Sold it after a couple of years and 5,000 miles of riding. I do miss it's simplicity and function. A truly remarkable yet underappreciated motorcycle.

I just bought a new HD Pan America this past Saturday. It so puts my BMW F850GS to shame in every category. I gave Spite's Corner a plug at Sherman HD.

I see a few comments of new Hornet owners, due to the praise for the bike you have given... Welp! I'm no different, I drove 12 hours one way to get a 2007 candy apple red one, and absolutely love it. Great work 👍

I watched all your original Hentai Hornet content. Glad you got another one! Looking forward to what you are going to do with this thing. I get the same feelings you have about the 919 about the VFR800. The shape, the lines, the sound... moist.

I had a 2005 Hornet and it was my come back to motorcycling bike after 20 years of no bikes. I too absolutely loved mine and didn't sell it until way over 100,000 kms. Problems I had - none. Maintenance was lots of oil and filter changes and just one wheel bearing in the rear. Motor still ran like brand new. I never had the fume issue nor did anyone I talked to here in New Zealand. Maybe the USA market ones were set up differently for some reason. Mine also came standard with handlebar weights which I notice you don't have. I took them off once and realized how good a job they did so they went back on. I imagine if the fueling can be leaned out you will notice a more powerful bike. Mine went way fast. Cheers Rick

You have Nostalgia, fond memories of your first Hornet. This one will likely add to those memories.

As a Norwegian, I feel your pain in the heat Spite. When it tips 25° C here (77° F) I stop functioning.

You mean you're only functioning above 25 C? Same here in Greece

I had a 2002. I loved the bike EXCEPT for the swirling exhaust up my back that made me smell like exhaust fumes all day long. I had added a PowerCommander (V? I think) and that didn't completely fix the exhaust problem. I had a 929 header waiting in the wings but sold the bike before I found the right silencer.

I does appear that quite a lot of parallel 4s have been ruined chasing more and more performance, losing torque low down and replacing it with screaming HP up top. Useless for the road. Why don't you get it flashed? You can clean up an awful lot of the running problems.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I've had my 06 since 2010 and still stock. Best bike I've ever owned. It will reside on display in my living room the day I can no longer ride it. Best bike ever. I would like to add that we have been lied to however. I just bought a new red tank from a shop also claiming to be the last one in the states for $900. OUCH. Another $600 to replace the fuel pump because the old tank rusted out. So be careful with replacements as someone is jacking up prices claiming extreme rarity. I was able to get rid of the rich gas smell by adding bags to my bike. It must change the airflow at the back because it's almost completely gone with them on. Big set of 3 Givi hard shell bags. Great review and like you, this bike changed my life and still makes me grin like a boy experiencing a first crush everytime I ride it.

Dude bro! I just got my 2002 Hornet 919 in February after you and Mr Potato 🥔 talked so highly of it. I'm out in Prescott, Az where we have 2 of the best roads in the state to ride. If you ever want to do a Hornet ride, Az or Tx. I'd totally be down.

This is a great video, something different. I wonder if you could start a new “interview “ type of segment on your channel? Where you find unique or iconic bikes and interview their owners? And maybe even score a test ride? Your easy going personality really seems like a good fit to get some interesting conversations going and could be something to diversify your videos in between regular reviews…

I've got 600. I'm 6ft and find the pegs are just a little too high and forward for my liking, not a deal breaker but a little movement would make it bang on.
