The best part is, he does know how to wheelie. He's just forgotten. The really old GTA maps (when they first started all this years ago) had multiple maps with jumps like this that were impossible without exploiting the wheelie mechanic. Duncan was part of those games and finished those maps. There were even a few (that he also did) where you had to kinda fly the bike by doing a constant wheelie. I've never played a GTA game in my life and I know about the wheelie physics because of those old maps.

7:00 That's a Bike thing. When a bike is at any angle other then exactly flat, it has really weird physics. An upside down bike practically flys forever. The same thing doesn't happen in cars. (if I had to guess, its because your character is applying a physics force to the bike while riding it, so its "lighter" when upside down and "heavier" when rightside up.

If i remember right, there was a whoile thing when this was first discovered. Essentially your character exterts a "downforce" on the vehicle so that the physics engine doesn't let the wheel colision make the vehicle fly off the road. Because of this, when your bike is rotated, the downforce vector points toward wherever the bottom of the vehicle is, so a wheelie actually goes faster and gets more airtime than driving normally. And like you said, when upside down the downforce actually just couteracts gravity

Weird physics? In GTA? I still remember the good old days in GTA San Andreas, where bicycles were the best vehicle in the game. You could use them to fly by just rapidly tapping leaning back and forth. Leaning back or forth doesn't rotate the bike around an axis, it actually exerted upward force from the front or back to make you lean. Rapidly tapping them meant you could actually just fly to the top of any skyscraper in the game. You definitely had some cramp in your fingers afterwards though...

@@goldcakes This is why. This guy is talking about gliding with motorcycles but that isn't what is happening here. The boost just say go forwards faster and forward accidentally is upwards when you wheelie.

tilting up has been a "mechanic" in GTA to keep air in jumps a long time ago and couldve answered every question they had in previous races "Why cant I make this jump?"

Yeah that's true but I don't think that's what's happening here. Unlike the boost pads, those boost walls actually give you momentum in whatever way you are facing. For cars you can pretty much only go straight but if you have your front wheel up on a bike you also get boosted upwards as well.

As cool as puzzle races are, I almost feel like utilizing modes where 2 teams versus each other to solve puzzles and win first would be a huge improvement to the design of said maps. Otherwise it is simply solved by brute forcing it.

Yeeah it would problem is a lot of those modes in the GTA creator have restrictions on what you can add and how spawns work etc these races kind of only work well on race mode because of boosts and stuff

Btw for all the Yogs, hit a like concrete barrier doing a wheelie on a non-garbage motorcycle [the harley's] and you'll jump So High and Far, I remember this from like 2015 or whenever it was I used to do that in GTAV

I think the boost just propels you in the direction your vehicle is facing, so when you pop a wheelie, it shoots you up where the motorcycle is pointing

It works without the boosts, too, though. At least, you used to be able to. If you got your bike completely upside-down you could even use it like a tiny one-man aircraft. If you got a high enough building and enough speed, you could even fly one of those oldschool choppers, in free-roam. The boosts are just giving you the best chance to make use of it, with limited space to wind up.

To be fair to Rythian, it is spelled "honor", depending where you're from. "Honor" is typically the American spelling, whereas "honour" is typically the British spelling. Rythian must have just learned it without the 'u'

Sadly he has to explain it all the time to everyone because they are so dense. Which is fine by me because I enjoy him explaining things. Which is very much r/explainitlileimfive energy. But I think every /regular/ sighted person has problems understanding this concept. One of the best I have seen is a black white filter applied to paint mixing and revealing that it's two opposite colors even though they look exactly the same. Like lime green and neon pink.
