Thanks so much. As a student, I changed my perspective especially after the first point. Rather than stressing out about the upcoming finals before winter break, I should cherish the moment to interact with the knowledge I am studying for. Realizing that I may not interact with the material after the semester or even for a long time after school made me a lot more present and even more motivated to study. I love your vids as usual :)

Life is short, but it's long enough that we can afford to stop, breathe, and realize how incredible our experiences really are. The plants, our successes, our emotions, the insects, the wind. It's all so simple yet so complex. So fleeting yet so eternal. Beautiful. It's all beautiful. 🌱

Andrew's videos helped me to make big changes in my life. I felt stuck for a while and I was unhappy. I watched his "Overthink?" titled video and that changed my life. I wrote down his entire lecture on notebook and read it everyday. I started making journals according to his 5 questions in a separate video. This practice made me realize how unhappy I was in my life. I decided to deactivate my social media accounts (two years now), and I enrolled back in university. I worked full time 40 hour job and took 16 credit hour courses. I ended with a 3.81 gpa and enrolled for 18 credit hours this winter semester. Anytime I feel overwhelmed, I go back and watch his videos. They help me to stay focused. I should graduate after two more semesters and looking forward to grad school already. Thank you Andrew for the wonderful, helpful content.

Andrew, I have suffered with deep and chronic depression my entire life. I am 35 years old now and I have never quite thought about if this was the last time I did something how would I treat it? This concept seems so simple and yet I’ve never really thought of it before now. It’s very uplifting I think it will change how I see life from now on. Thank you for this amazing video.

Had a similar thought process yesterday looking for better ways to focus.I found this proverb King Solomon wrote, Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you.(Proverbs 4:25). That took me to research eyes in a Hebrew and I came to something King David wrote about enjoying God and His creation. He asked God, “Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.” (Psalms 119:18). You are speaking about things the smartest men in the world, historical Kings wrote about. ♥️

Over-focusing on our experiences may be beneficial for performance. However, this is no different than focusing on a movie you are watching. The movie is fictional and temporary. You won't get the same taste when you watch a movie you love for the second time. You want to watch another movie. So is life. Experience and performance oriented living is fun, but it's like playing an immersive game. Death starts to seem scary to you because you don't want to miss out on this experience. You start doing everything you do with time by competing with death. And in the end, fear captures you and paralyzes you. You have to balance between the inner world and the outer world. Experience is a dream, but a beautiful dream, that's all.

Hey Andrew, started watching you from the dopamine detox video you made- you never fail to put in new perspectives to life! Thank you for providing us with new ways to look at life itself. As you said in the first point- do everything thinking it’s the last thing or you might not do it for years and years is something which I’ve started realising lately, especially on trips, that I don’t know when would I come back, or if I would ever come back for that matter; But I’ve kinda ended up thinking or overthinking with the same perspective as people- like what if it’s the last time I’m seeing my loved ones and that mindset makes me miserable instead of making me feel grateful. I would really appreciate if you could provide a solution to this because it becomes too much on my mind sometimes.. Keep up the work!🤍

Not everyone is the same. For some it will lead to depression, extreme fear, despair and passiveness. Sam Harris is a nihilist who does not seem to understand the problem with nihilism. For the idealist mind, contemplating "the last" usually does not lead to excitement or joy but to an unbearable melancholy.

The second one is my favorite thing in the world!! I've been doing that for quite some time now, and it never fails to fill me with this immense sense of universal love. When I walk around somewhere I know really well, I try to pick up on new details every time. Say, you look up to a building you've driven past a thousand times, and you see a parrot in a cage on the 3rd floor balcony. I like to look at those kinds of things and ask myself, “If that disappeared tomorrow, would you even know it was here in the first place?”. Or just every single window, too. It's people, it's human lives that have somehow managed to coincide with yours in this specific moment in time. And every bird and every tree and every stranger you walk past. Just how many elements have to fall into place for two things to be in the same place at the same time? It's magical. Reality is the purest form of magic. There's a quote from my favorite book series ('Spellslinger' by Sebastien De Castell) that says: “Not everyone hates you, kid. There's entire continents full of people who haven't met you yet.”

I love this, I had a similar insight recently. I would always look back with nostalgia to the past, and some years later I would feel strong nostalgia to that newer past moment as well. That made me think: Someday, in the yet unknown future where everyting could be different than today, I would feel strong nostalgia to this very moment, the way I live now, the things I am doing, the people I spend my time with now. And this makes me realize that I can feel this nostalgia, this deep appreciation for the present moment, right here, right now
