Check the OBP of Gimenez before wanting to put him in the leadoff spot. Gimenez does try hard to get on base, though, looking at his HBP numbers. He's one of the better bunters in the league, so he could be interesting in the #2 spot of the lineup - assuming Gimenez begins to emulate his 2022 self more than his recent self.

Might as well pencil Rowdy Tellez into the projected lineup. Ross Atkins is guaranteed to sign someone like that as a power bat. If not Rowdy, someone of that caliber. Vogelbach 2.0

Trading Teoscar for a volatile bullpen piece was one of the worse moves of Atkins tenure imo. It not only subtracted too much power it also changed the entire vibe of this team. That smile and energy was priceless. Sad thing is that Shatkins will be fired after this season but there will be nothing left of that 2021 lineup that had so much potential and he hasn't added anything else worth talking about to this team since

He was not volatile at the time of the trade he came off 2 really great seasons with health and lots of innings for a reliever. Teo was one of the worst fielders in baseball. The offence would have been just fine in 2023 if vladdy, bo, varsho, Kirk, Chapman, Springer Didn’t fall off the face of the earth offensively.

The trade was fine, since the Blue Jays only traded away Teo's 2023 season, since MLB teams trade contracts, not the players themselves. Teo's contract become completely worthless at the end of 2023. Swanson was good in 2023, and who knows what Macko will be. The mistake Ross Atkins made was not signing Teo in free agency after the 2023 season. Teo wanted to come back.

Regardless of what gets added or subtracted, we can't finish worse than last year. It's a decent team who played horrible baseball. There's a difference. Vlad and Bo want to come off strong years. If they're even worth keeping, like all the fans are shouting, then we have nothing to worry about. I think that it's It's almost a guarantee that we're going to make the playoffs in 2025.

I am convinced the best move for the Jays is to open the vault and sign Alex Bregman. His excellent D is right up Atkins/Shapiro's alley and he slots perfectly into the #4 slot. Bo first, Gimenez #2, Vladdy, Bregman cleanup, George, Kirk, etc.

Based on last year their signings in the New Year which was Vogelbach, Escobar, YRod, J Turner, I see more of a reason to be scared of the moves this front office will make. Reclamation projects and bench utility players is likely all Atkins will secure

@MussellRartin Never compare one year to another. The available players change, budgets change . The trade with Cleveland was a positive move and should help attract some good pitching. Pitching was a major flaw last season.

I would put this forward - Gimenez, Kirk, Guerrero, Bichette, Wagner, Springer, Loperfido, Clement, Lukes. If Gimenez doesn't help solve the Springer lead off situation his addition isn't much of a help. He is a back to back 30 SB guy and with Kirk's patience (and Vladdy protecting him) we can give Gimenez some opportunities to steal a bag where even a long single can plate him. This lineup would have to scrap for runs. Management needs to replace the bottom 5 of that lineup to come close to competing and our minor league system is becoming an embarrassment.

It’s wild that anyone thinks the blue jays are going to compete for a World Series, let alone trying to. The only reason they haven’t already blown it up is because Atkins is trying to save his job. Didn’t re sign a single free agent last offseason. Traded away every free agent at the deadline. & haven’t signed one this offseason. It’s clearly a rebuild. Gausman, Springer, Bassitt, & likely Bo & or Vlad are all on final seasons &will be gone if they’re losing by this year’s trade deadline. The window is closed, bros.

if the Jays dont make a major signing in regards to bringing multiple bats to the lineup then I fully expect not only the Jays to finish last in the AL East but to lose both Vlad and Bo either during the season through a trade (Bo) or in the offseason (Vlad). This team is such a clusterf*ck of a mess, it's farm system depleted and the talent that we did have coming up the pipeline, our front office loves to trade away for players that have one or two years left in their prime >.

They haven't traded away any prospects of consequence though. Moreno, sure, but he isn't as good as everyone thinks. We haven't had a 5-6 year run before, so it makes sense that fans don't realize how many resources it depletes. Every team in the league, except for LA and Houston have dealt with this kind of season in the last 5 years. This is what happens in baseball.

@@eshep71 Actually our last "good run" isnt now but rather when we had EE and Joey Bats back in 2016. Not 20,22,23 where they got bounced out of every wildcard series without even winning a game. The Jays had a top ten farm system in 18 and 19 and it's no coincidence that the FO converted that farm system into the mess that you see on the field today that produced 0 playoff victories. Now we have no farm system and a team that is on the brink of disaster. I prefer the development route that the Raptors employed that got them a championship as opposed to what the Jays are trying to do and failing miserably.

@The_Zilli sorry man, but in 2015, the Jays were below .500 at the deadline and went on a 22-5 run after acquiring Tulo and Price (2 of the guys he gave away are getting paid this winter). That's called a fluke. Lol In 18 months, all that magic was gone and we had to pay away Tulo and Martin while JD and Stro basically quit on us. So what if the farm was ranked Highly then. How's Pearson doing? Where's Biggio (actually my fav player , what a disappointment lol). It was all the power of 1 very special prospect - Vlad. They built a top 5 payroll team around Vlad to get him to the playoffs. Vlad is 3/22 in those playoff games. 3 times and he manages 1 hit each time. Go ahead, Blame the front office for their playoff failure. It's Vladdy's failure. (Ok, that Berrios thing..ugh) While it's debatable how effective Ross has been, It isn't debatable how ineffective Vlad has been when we've really needed him. Very literally, his best baseball was when we needed him the least.

If the Jays do not sign Burnes then a possible back up plan could be through the trade market. To address the starting pitcher problem , look at either Jesus Luzardo from the Miami Marlins or Framber Valdez from the Houston Astros then look at Luis Arraez from the San Diego Padres who can play 3rd base. And lastly why not look at either AJ Minter or Tanner Scott for the bull pen. Trade Springer , Bichette , Lukes , Manoah to free up some cap space .
