I have the black dial version. Its stunning! The way the polished case shine is awesome and even better, the applied indesis catch the light like a crystal. A great date just alternative if you ask me.

This watch is a real winner. Beautiful case finishing, high beat movement that has been nicely decorated, beautiful lume, duratect coating. Outstanding watch for $500.

Picked up the white dial of this model recently. The case finishing is very premium, but the bracelet is absolutely disposable. Movement is consistently at -3 sec daily. Swapped out the stock bracelet for a Strapcode quick release brushed superfine mesh, which gives the piece vintage King Seiko vibes--a JDM stunner for sure.

@@michaelaos The original bracelet has male end links. Another option I'm considering is a straight end Strapcode oyster style bracelet. I also have thought about purchasing an 18mm clasp with more micro adjustments and fitting it to the original bracelet.

What a beautiful watch!!! Citizen is an under rated company. I just put my first Citizen on layaway at a store here in Panama where I live. I am now a fan!!! The quality is fantastic on their watches. Thanx for sharing your new watch with us!! The watch I am buying is a basic quartz dress watch with date. Same dial layout as your watch with a different color scheme. My watch is a budget watch but the quality is still there. I am now sold on Citizen and will probably buy another in the future.

Definitely comparable to the tissot gentleman powermatic 80, but it's actually a tad more casual thanks to the brushed links which imo is better.

Japanese people are practical people , that's why they know that a box is worth jack sh1t and is thrown in the closet at best. I would rather spend 500 bucks on a superb watch than on a 450 bucks watch and 50 bucks box. Money spent on a box is 100% loss, a box is there simply for the transportation just in the same way you don't keep the plastic covers on a brand new car just so you sell it as "full package".... Give me a stupid box, triple buble wrap and a perfect watch anyday.

This looks like a great package. Nice to see them taking advantage of their own great movement. How is the rotor noise? The 9015 is noisy on some watches. Boxes are over-rated IMHO - nice to see its all biodegradable.

If you swing your arm with this 9011 movement you can hear it spinning pretty wildly which is part of the design, its not particularly loud though can only hear it up close and sounds normal when not moving a lot.

Such a nice one and great to see that Citizen makes case sizes under 40mm as well. Actually I was searching two years ago on a nice elegant Citizen sportswatch. I have found the AS2050 with radio controlled solar movement. But this automatic could be another Citizen for my collection. Beautiful!

This is a lot of watch for the price. I have a few Citizen Eco Drive solar models but so far I do not have one of the automatics from the brand. The dial on this example is stunning. Almost as if they borrowed the dial person from Oris who did the sunray Aquis dials. Looking forward to the full review.

19mm lug width!!!!!!!! Sorry I will keep my dressKX. I do like some things on this watch better than my dressKX, but the Seiko wins with the case shape, 20 mm lugs, and the 4:00 guarded crown.

Citizen makes great watches but do you know what the hottest watch is right now? The Tissot PRX automatic. That watch is a revived style from the 1970's and 80's. Yet if you look at many of the designs of Citizen, Seiko, Casio, and other watch makers, their time pieces essentially all look the same. This also includes Citizen's new automatic Series 8 line. Citizen should come out with some bold, affordable automatics. The ones like this aren't a bad start, but the style is basically no different than a Tissot Gentleman or one of manyh Seiko automatics. When Citizen differentiates themselves like Tissot did, then they'll be taken seriously in terms of automatics, espeically luxury line ones.

I think you are being a bit unfair with citizen here. I would much rather they spent r&d money on the watch than on the box that will be thrown in the back of the cupboard anyway. That is a beautiful piece, and at $500 it's a bargain. The mirror finished rehaut is stunning, like you said. And there are no better bracelets on some $5000 Grand Seikos.

But you are right in this case it’s horrendous. At minimum for a nice watch like this. They can at least use packaging like the Pagani design. That would be a minimum. I don't care about the packaging at all. If I buy something and it comes in an expensive elaborate box, I think "what a waste of money and materials". Some stuff you buy comes in full plastic cases that are like pelican cases, and its just the shipping box. You are going to be putting it in a closet and not use it, so what was the point?

I can’t believe this. Right on the case back it says.BASE STEEL. That’s what you get for $500 . I can’t believe that. Is the case base metal. . I wouldn’t doubt it. I think that they made a really nice looking Watch that is made with inferior materials. You yourself even said the bracelet kind of stinks.
