I’ve played many of these “games”. They aren’t scams, but they’re close in some aspects. I would highly recommend not supporting them at this time. They make bare bones games that seemingly scratch an itch we all desperately want and then drop it once sales dry up. Then, the make a sequel with just a few more features (if that) and repeat. I’d encourage everyone to read the Steam reviews as well as go through their community hubs for each game to see this trend. I really liked Kingdom Was back in the day, but then each “new version” is the same or removes fantasy elements to try and capitalize on a market (total war historical players). The devs were always nice, but there isn’t any substance to these games sadly. Seriously, read reviews from others before dropping any money here.

This is a reskinned Kingdom Wars game that will never be finished and is Renaissance only by name.

Actually great to see potential competitors in the genre to avoid stagnation and bad products. I will keep tabs on this game and on another title, Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign, since these 2 are showing potential for growth and new spins on the genre

Oh, I played first Knight of Honor a LOT back in the day. Sadly, the sequel didn't feel right, to me at least.

Mate this is nothing "new". This same developer has like 5 OTHER kingdom wars games with the same exact look and feel. They are boring and have poor UI, interface, execution. I played Medieval Kingdom Wars and they are literally re-using almost all of that game in this one. The developers are trying to cash grab their fanbase with another renamed kingdom wars game (their 6th one so far). Please don't give these developers any of your money. I promise it's re-used garbage with little to no innovation and improvement.

I don’t know how I would feel if total war switched from turn based to real time. Maybe it could be something where you can toggle it on and off. That way those that prefer it to be turn based can still have that option.

Real-time would imply lowering the scale (can't manage 50 settlements in real-time), slowing down the pace (as is, armies are superfast - both movement & recruitment) and automation should be worked on (preplanned cities, character build, etc.)

Sorry to say this but please dont promote this game. Its a cash grab and it is not even the indy developers first round. They've made like 5 other Kingdom Wars. All reskined - no innovations or UI improvement or graphical updates.

Real Time turns? Nope. I'm definitely out. The great Draw of Total War for me isn't the battles. There are lots of games that do real time battle. It's the hybridization of real-time battle withe turn-based strategy. It's one of the main reasons I prefer Total War games to Paradox.

It also has the earlier "medieval" and "fantasy" kingdom battles. Renaissance is their latest title and likely to be much more polished than the earlier titles but I did enjoy Medieval for a good couple dozen hours or so

total war could learn something about building from shodow empire. like you need building that are build from resources but also you can have money with witch you pay your troops and other things, buy the resources that you need and also there is a distinction between private and public building, buildings that you dont build and dont own but offer a bonus. They also dont appear if you tax you population too much. And another thing you offer salary for the people you are heiring and so do the private sector. witch in some cases do the same thing that you do ( like government run farms ore private farms, government owned industry or privately owned ), and you are competing for workers with the private sector.

On the comment about outdated rome 1 and med 2 control scheams. there is in the control settings the total war style hotkeyse and there is a pre build hotkeyse named FPS hotkeyse that you can select. and it has WASD as the camera move.

I have the first Kingdom Wars and all the next instalments of this. It was always a usual RTS game from what I see here it changed a lot it definetly have its potential.

Not bad, but I LIKE turn-based for campaign. Real-time campaign (same for Ultimate General, I think it's called) will NEVER be a game I want to play.

"Graphics are like Age of Empires 2" My good sir, you're thinking about AoE3, remember Simba, AoE2 had no real 3D models for anything, maybe except the main screen? Point is, AoE 1 and 2 had that beautiful 2D isometric art and models, a far cry from this game's graphics but in a good way

oof, that metallic clashing sound at 10:37 needs some work, it's way too rhythmic. I would get annoyed very quickly if the game's combat sounded like that very often

I was interested until I saw the combat and the terrible scaling in combat etc. Giant units and small buildings, looks terrible. A hard pass for me.
