Hi everyone, I’m the developer of Category 6! Huge thanks to you, Floppy, for playing my game-your commentary had me cracking up, and I loved the music you added. Watching your playthrough gave me great insights into what I can improve, as well as some bugs to fix. One big thing I noticed is that the "Next" button on the crafting menu needs to stand out more, and I’ll definitely tweak the rate at which the food and water meters deplete. You totally nailed the vibe I’m aiming for with the graphics-I wanted a stylized, cartoony feel but still realistic enough to draw players into the world. Thanks again for checking it out!

Love the survival genre games like these, if there's 1 thing single wish I could convey to you about these sorts of sandbox survivals that I love as a genre, is that variety is the spice of life, especially when it comes to consumables and gear you can find! Having fun picking up my favorite candy bar or the joy of finding a niche but useful item like a reusable water canteen just tickles the hoarder inside of me, and I'm sure other sandbox survival enjoyers are the same, the more unique loot we can find to showcase in our base the better! We're all trying to build our dragon's hoard when we overcome the survival aspect eventually!

I feel ya man, My home town is Boone, NC right in the middle of all the Helene mess. I felt so strange watching my home town on the news while making a game about a hurricane. I never thought a hurricane could do so much damage to the mountains. After seeing that it changed a big part of how I plan to develop Category 6. There are a lot of mountains in the game that I had planned on not being too damage from the storm but those plans got changed after Helene.

Heya! I noticed for the trading that you don't really sell items, everything that can be sold goes into the "Valuables" tab. See how in your inventory it says you have $35 under that tab? So the items just turn into money. I think that's how it works at least. I love your videos, never a dull moment haha :D

This person gets it! That is how it works. I use an auto sort for all the inventory items because I am over sorting stuff on inventory screens in games. I feel like it wastes the players time. I got the idea from playing Ghost of Tsushima! It has such a nice clean inventory system that I love.

I wonder if the migraine comes from the barometric pressure? I know I tend to get a headache when a hurricane rolls through ... Something though, shouldn't you have a mechanism to collect rainwater? I mean, shouldn't you be able to drink that? It's not ideal, but falling rain should be better than flood waters ... Also, would be kinda cool if the wolves were actually the dogs from the community that have gone feral ... and then maybe have actual wolves that are bigger as like "bosses" lol.

I like your ideas, thanks for the feedback! The migraine happens when your water meter gets low. There really is only rain in the game in the first hour so I decided not to add a rain water catching system to the game. However that could change...so it might end up in the game.

I think it was seeing the dead body... prior to entering the house he didn't have any status effects. Floppy is desensitized from gaming... but his in game character is not...

@@craftygamelab1731 Limit the annoyance. Storm is nice but it has to end. There is no endless Storm. Its extremely annoying. As tech demo its fine it show what the engine can do, but the flooding everywhere is just too much. We have all environmental hell pi*** on the player right from the start. Ramp it up, start slow add some more hazards over time. Progress with the abilities of the Player. Get a Hunger mechanic, means no food is no instant death but reduce your weight and power. Especially reduce the needs for food and water. One can a day will do, except in harsh environments like ice where you can burn like 6000 calories a day easily. 3 times the usual. I almost see this poor guy dying from thirst with all the water around him. Yeah yeah its seawater got it. RAIN ? How hard is it to take a sheet and collect it ? That clearly is a worthy craft able. So the Storm has to cede after a few days, make some sun shine before the next storm / Hailstorm /Lightning storm arrives. Rely more on finds. Its unrealistic for most people to build a weapon from a pipe. You'll hit sh** with that crap. You can build a Molotov certainly. But even ammunition need explosive capsules, Gunpowder a cartridge case and a bullet. Now you need a special Gun press to combine all. Crafting electric part + duct tape + batteries = Flashlight is MAGIC. Just try to do it. Add candles and torches as craft able. Complex machinery should be a find. You can not build a Lathe, you have to find a working one. You find a Backpack container, loot it, but you can not take the Backpack ? Oh well. Frustration on the side of the player. He want to be entertained. (take it as example i am not sure that this was in this video :) Its your Game however. Take a deeper look at the mechanics of the Long Dark. Not that there is everything perfect. You need wood to cook, but can't cut trees, just one example. You eat Wolf meat and get a parasite. Just COOK the damn thing proper. Wolf meat is as edible as all other meat. :D

I'd turn off ambient sound in ten seconds. Nasty. The need for food and water is unreal. Where is the impact of marching around in water ? Its cold ? Do this storm ever end? I mean its over 3 days storm. The game concept is not that bad, but frankly a copy. Even if the environment is different. Wonder how many can do with 3 batteries some scrap and tape a flashlight ? Don't you need a bulb ? Complex technical goods should not be crafts. A torch, a candle fine. Weapons, oh well its a find or no way. Ammunition can be crafted, if you have the right tools. The presentation is not bad, graphic style is ok, there are triggered changes in the game world, all nice there. Survival aspect falls a little flat, but i guess lack of water and food will do the job soon (kind of cheap but realistic, time scale is off however in this game). Just FYI for all survival game developer. A human can cope with no water for 2-3 days, depending on the climate (hot) this can be less. Humans got the ability not eating for weeks, the bodies answer is eating its body, starting with fat and later also muscles. You get weak and powerless. Water is always dangerous, contact with it cools you rapidly down. Below 10 degree Celsius your muscles stop to work, main reason for drowning in cold water. You're fresh meat then soon.

Graphics aren't anything dude. All the new games are on unreal 5 and they are all awful.
