Design and exterior of the Nintendo Switch 2 1. Larger display: - Leaks suggest that the Switch 2 could have a larger OLED display, possibly between 7 and 8 inches. The display could offer a higher resolution, possibly 1080p in handheld mode. 2. Slimmer Case: - The design could be slimmer and lighter, with Nintendo still paying attention to portability. A thinner frame and robust workmanship would be conceivable. 3. Improved Joy-Cons: - There are rumors of improved Joy-Cons, which are not only more ergonomic, but have also been optimized against the well-known "Joy-Con drift" problem. Magnetic connections instead of mechanical ones could improve durability. 4. New color options and special editions: - Nintendo is known for its limited editions and color variants. Themed designs tied to popular games could appear at launch or later. Technical improvements

Since the Nintendo switch successor is going to be better than the Nintendo switch in terms of power, it’s a given that the charger would draw more wattage. A cooler inside the switch dock would be a good idea.

its not officially confirmed but reliable leaks (like much like the ones the original switch had which were real) say its using a 7nm t239 and while we cant confirm clock speeds its likely to be around a rtx2050 with somethings better somethings worse, 12gbs of ram and keep in mind consoles dont typically have vram in the traditional way that pc's do, itll most likely have 4k support but itd probably be rarely used outside of older and light weight games, and i can only assume its battery life will be on par with the v1 switch

Man, I’m loving the consistency, you’re crushing it and the quality in addition to the quantity is insanely visible. As for the Switch 2, my interest lies in what they add to the system at launch. Another switch with more power only wouldn’t work, we saw that with the WII U. They undoubtedly would want to stick to what’s brought them so much consumer interaction (the switch) but they’d need to add stuff to it. I’m hoping for VR inclusion this time around, and I think it’s likely, due to some patents I’ve seen. I’m not talking about the headset addition though; no, I’m talking about the joycon. There’s a patent out here for a hinging mechanism for the joycon that make them perfectly ergonomic for VR. I was planning on making a video on that but I unfortunately do not have the time… if you’d like to use that idea I think it may be a very good niche topic for you that still ties to the switch 2.

@wordguystudios4.070
@wordguystudios4.070 Ай бұрын
I guess what's exciting about it is the fact that most phones don't charge at 60 watts. Most devices might charge at 60 or higher, and having a nintendo console that has a 60 watter charging brick is pretty nice. That means you'd be able to charge a device with fast charging in anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. Interesting, and it is new info I guess.

@@wordguystudios4.070 that, and the faster charger along with the cooling dock would allow the switch to have a higher power budget to work with. Which means better performance
@NintyPrime
@NintyPrime Ай бұрын
A 60watt charger means a lot. The Nintendo Switch is a max 19w device in docked mode. Not all of that is used for the chip, some is for charging, but the point is that when you increase the amount of wattage a device can take when plugged in, there are multiple implications. For starters you can have a higher battery capacity because you can charge that battery faster. That could, potentially, mean more battery life. However, it's more likely the higher capacity is needed, because the system will have a higher base power draw. Now, why would the Switch 2 drawing in docked mode say, twice as much as watts as the base Switch, matter? So 38watt in that example? Well, it means that while some of that is obviously for charging, it means the Switch 2 will have a much higher TDP. You need a higher TDP in order to have a more powerful system. The more watts available, the more you can clock up the ram/cpu/gpu. Obviously, it does nothing to tell us exactly how powerful the system is. However, if you combine the fact it will use said charger with now multiple shipping reports supporting the idea the dock itself may have external cooling for the device, it means whatever they are running at in docked mode in particular makes the device uncomfortable to the touch. Not a problem, if you have that external cooling. It basically means whatever is in the system, Nintendo is trying to get the most performance they reasonably can from it, and they decided that additional cooling in the dock will help with that so it's not too hot to lift out of the dock. It also means any third party docks and third party chargers, will have to take this into account. This also potentially means the current Switch dock isn't compatible. EDIT: It's also possible DLSS may only be used in docked mode, and the increased power draw is to turn on the cores needed to do the job.Will be interesting to monitor how this all plays out. Also if a future revision switches to a vapor chamber, which could allow for extra power draw in handheld.

@@NintyPrime Yup I was thinking that a higher wattage charger makes it charge a lot faster and hold a charge better! Question, do batteries drain at all while charging, b/c that would be a major factor in why you would want a fast charge on it?

If the original Switch is anything to go by (based on how much wattage headroom Nintendo prefers on their chargers), then we should expect to see this console drawing AT LEAST up to 30 watts. What's interesting is that, based on current PC handhelds like the Rog Ally, most of the high performance efficiency is around the 28 watt range. After that, power consumption goes through the roof for negligible performance gains. Switch 2 will obviously run on different architecture, but if around 30W is the max draw, then it makes sense that Nintendo is selecting a wattage where they are able to get high performance for docked mode, obviously less efficiency than handheld mode, but not necessarily terrible. Remember, this console is expected to get fairly close to Series S performance in docked more. Getting anywhere near that performance threshold would make 4mn/5MN an absolute NECESSITY! Even if we take Series S comparison out of the picture, this report only further leans in the direction other tidbits were already pointing to. There's no way this console can support the type memory we see in the shipping details, decent 1080p screen, the fairly lofty target specs, updated Joy-Con with magnetic system, and all the other things that draw power... And STILL be on an 8nm process. Nvidia, Arm, and Nintendo are good, but that'll require miracle, or at least never-before-seen tech. It's much easier to just use a smaller node.😕

@@NintyPrime Yeah but can it be just an optional peripheral? Imagine the Switch2 running the same graphics profile on both handheld mode and with the packaged-in dock, but is boosted with another, optional dock ($300+) that has it's own GPU/SOC. But imagine, even weirder yet, that "super dock" can be used standalone to play Switch2 games (only docked to a TV), albeit, only at that same weaker graphics profile.

The ram might be the bottle neck again but that's a lot of power for what is essentially a tablet. What If when the cooling INSIDE the Dock is Not for the console itself rather for the GPU or the dlss Chip inside the dock.
@Nobody-sp7ug
@Nobody-sp7ug 28 күн бұрын
If this was the case there would be a heatsink for the dock in the customs manifest. Dlss isn't from external chips, that would create so much latency it would kill it, it's from tensor cores that are inside the sm's of the gpu. For rtx ampere each tensor core has 32 fp16 alu's, that can also be configured as 64 int8, or 128 int4. Switch 2 has 48 tensor cores so 48x32=1536. DLSS takes advantadge of the tensor cores hardware accelerated 4x tensor (matrix) operations, as well as 2x sparse inference (being able to solve for work that doesn't need to be done ahead of time) for 8x hardware acceleration fir compute over the cuda cores raster. IE using tensor cores is 8x faster than cuda cores/main shaders. For switch 2 that is 24.56 Tflops fp16 per GHz. That's where the power to run dlss comes from.
