Yeah, if your goals are more oriented toward understanding a topic better yourself, then this new feature seems very appealing. The channel seems solely focused on generating content for monetary purposes. Not all LLM/RAG features are useful for that goal. One of the key product people on NotebookLM is a writer who researches topics in-depth for his writing so that is reflected in the product.

I've been trying out the podcast feature: using it to review research documents that I've compiled. It's quite useful to be able to pop it on and go for a walk, it can spark some interesting & creative ideas. I see its primary usefulness as a learning/research tool - which I think Google is targeting it towards anyway. EDIT: I'll add, the interruptibility feature is sometimes useful because the AI podcast isn't always extensive with a large amount of input data. So it's mainly intended as a learning tool, if you need it to expand further on a topic, or clarify (though completely unusable if you're listening to the audio on-the-go). Rather annoyingly: I have found it interjecting a lot of PC policy and skepticism into the podcasts, which to a degree makes them better, but also pads the podcast out with a lot of fluff that I don't care about.

If Google understood where this would make the most sense it would have been added to youtube seems like the best place for this tool to exist. They should also have this tool available in there web browser. I don't think Google gets it anymore if your spying Google your welcome just gave you an idea that your billions in salary couldn't tell you.

Never liked goolges AI to military, pushy and doesn't listen. A notebook LM kept doing things other than what I asked it to do, so I stepped back for a minute. We'll see where this goes. The Overview 😅
