I think what's really interesting with this game is that one can play the celtiberian's campaign and it differs from the romans approach: mainly ambushing and using the terrain in your favour. I played the demo and thought it was fun!

Hi, only for info here, this game is a remade of the “NUMANTIA” game that was released in 2017. The game was popular in the local area of Soria here in Spain, in the proper ruins of Numancia you can get a copy of the game in physical version of the ps4. I didn’t know until I have see this video that this new version exists, the old game was pretty good actually, you could take a ton of different decisions to get bonuses to the battles of the different chapters. I don’t know if I like the new cartoony graphics, the old ones were more realistic and ugly, it represented the harshness of the situation in my opinion. Nonetheless I see they are fixing up one of the things that were bad, the original combat maps were too flat and the strategy was limited to the moral of the troops that were surrounded, whit the addition of terrains the game will have more complexity and more fun. Anyway if you have read this play the game, you will not regret doing it. The Spanish studio that do the game put much effort in the historical part and lots of love in the game. (Sorry if my English is not that good) ;)

Wow this seems very interesting and unique, i have to say i love the emphasis on using units in the role they were supposed to be historically. Even very in depth tactical games like field of glory can't completely make it every unit unique, but this system of specific buffs is very fresh to the genre. The campaign seems very cool and i understand the artstyle is done as a way to convey the love without the manpower and resources needed to make something more realistic. I love that they even managed to squeeze an rpg system in there with equipment, that is very ambitious, i can only hope they managed to balance it all out because i can imagine some powerful equipment can make an unit too special and break the focus on group tactics. But if they managed to make it work that is very impressive indeed. All in all it seems like a project that can be moving the market much like the banner saga did years ago with a creative spin on mechanics and style while delivering a good story

Yeah there is not enought Roman games, but sadly most of them don't deliver on what's missing in the market. This one is too cartoonish for me
@AndysTake7 ай бұрын
It definitely has a cartoony style, but so does the legendary Asterix and Obelix :D this game’s awesome, I’d highly recommend you check it out even for a little if you want a cool story set in Roman times :)

Have you tried a "A Legionary's Life". From the description "A Legionary's Life lets you play as a Roman soldier during the years of the Second Punic War and beyond. Rise up through the ranks and win prestigious awards or just focus on making it home in one piece; it's up to you." Its a mostly text base game, it you can get pass that, its one of my favorite Roman games.

It just has a comic book feel to it. I like it something different and from what I tried I enjoyed it. Indie games are always a plus that's what make things evolve in gaming world.

This game reminds me more of The Banner Saga (a game series about fantasy Vikings and Jotun with a great style) with a much larger scale in terms of battle mechanics. In art style and structure it feels similar though and I respect that.

Sorry but it’s not historical combat when it’s focused on killing units instead of focusing on morale.
@AndysTake7 ай бұрын
@@ares106 it’s focused one morale as well, as certain units even do more morale damage than physical damage
@ares1067 ай бұрын
@@AndysTake I did notice that and I appreciate that they modeled morale to some degree. But I also noticed an elephant wipe out an entire infantry formation in one shot, which is very silly and not historical. For it to be truly historical, morale should dominate not be on par with killing or an afterthought as it is in many so called historical games.

considering that Rome Total War where units are more likely to rout than be wiped to the last man perhaps morale plummet faster as each unit suffers more casualties? The fight as shown in the preview looks more like it didn't take an entire maniple or centuria. So losing half or prolonged exposure to being flank may cause them to lose morale more?
