Written steps here: photoshopcafe.com/new-remove-tool-option-and-use-auto-selection-with-remove-tool/ A lot of people are asking about Generative Credits, so I'll link to the Adobe FAQ here: helpx.adobe.com/firefly/get-set-up/learn-the-basics/generative-credits-faq.html

Just adding. Generative Fill has a resolution limit, which was originally 1024x1024 pixels, but this has been increased to 2000x2000 pixels in newer updates.

Good work Colin! Hopefully Adobe watches this and continues to improve the removal process.

You always have the best tips! I'd like a video on how use Generative AI and upload photos to IG with out them flagging image as "AI"?
@photoshopcafe2 ай бұрын
Thanks, They use CAI (Content Authenticity Initiative) so that's not going to happen, and less so as time goes on. Why do you need to get around the flag?

Very informative again, Colin! Right on point as usual. In a previous comment on another of your videos I said about the actions I'd made, another easy quick and useful one I've done is assign Shift+f2 to increasing a selection by 5 which has come in more handy since gen ai as you can select the subject then just increase the buffer with this action. (I also did shift+f3 to decrease)

dopepics AI fixes this (AI Image Editor / Upscaler). Photoshop remove tool boosted!

Colin, If you choose the 'Never Use Gen AI' option does that mean Gen AI won't appear as a default in the Contextual Taskbar? Or, is it a tool option bar limited setting? 🤔
@photoshopcafe2 ай бұрын
It doesn’t effect task bar, only remove tool

Would be nice if they actually integrated the credits you have left in Photoshop somewhere, that way you don't need to keep going to your account

Isn’t it shown in our Adobe cloud client?

I subscribe to adobe cloud. You kept mentioning credits. What are these and is there a charge? Great video as always

Hi Colin, you mentioned paying "Generative Credits". What are those, I have not heard about this. How are you charged and what is the fee per credit? Thanks

Priceless GF tips and tricks indeed! One thing Colin what did you mean about saving money, using credits, when does Adobe charge us beyond our monthly membership payments? First time I’ve heard of this
@photoshopcafe2 ай бұрын
In the future, they will be charging if you go over your allotments for gen fill. It’s 1000 a month for all apps, different plans are different amounts. Most people will never go over
@FotomakerAcademy2 ай бұрын
@@photoshopcafe Oh, so not just providing slower response times if over the monthly credit allocation?
@WanderFeetChronicles2 ай бұрын
@@photoshopcafeI beg to differ about not going over. I get 200 credits and using this often for remove, gen fill etc - they go down quickly.
@photoshopcafe2 ай бұрын
@@FotomakerAcademy Well, yes it slows it down, they don't force you to pay. You can probably use it slower for free, but people will pay for speed. Not everyone, everyone is different. I haven't heard of it being an issue yet, we will have to see how the future goes.
@photoshopcafe2 ай бұрын
@@WanderFeetChronicles yes 200 would. Have you noticed it going slowly when you go over?
@wilhelmienmarti23212 ай бұрын
Very unhandy! Look what happens if you draw a selection around the boats and fill in the prompt “remove boats”. I did that with birds in the bachground of two birds which I wanted to stand alone and that worked great and very much more simple!
@photoshopcafe2 ай бұрын
You can just paint over the boats with the remove tool as I did earlier in this tut, and that will give you exactly the same result. That works for boats, or birds (This isn't a tut on removing boats, they are just something to use as a working example.) But there are times when you need to be really careful with more complex outlines and close object that need to be preserved, that's when you would use this tip.

Generative AI uses credits? I’d never realised this. I don’t use photoshop any longer but when I did I’d just assumed that I could use the AI as much as I wanted to.

Sorry, I'm confused - like the comment below, I subscribe, am i paying extra if I use generative fill? And I'm also confused about how exactly you saved money when you still had to use the generative fill? Ok after a struggle I found I get 250 credits per month, so I need to watch that but shouldn't be a problem.

Still don't like AI. Faster option is select the boats, invert selection and paint over with clone stamp, Done! old school.
@WanderFeetChronicles2 ай бұрын
You’re entitled to your opinion, but AI for helping workflow is great. It’s not replacing you. You carry on with your clone tool though.
@photoshopcafe2 ай бұрын
Yes, we know you can use other tools such as content aware fill, clone stamp., patch tool, even an ant with the erase tool attached to its foot. OK, maybe not an ant, the point being, this is a tut about the remove tool, not how best to remove the boats

I’ve been a PS/LR subscriber since it started but I won’t be renewing my annual subscription in a few months. I thought the AI would be great but it consistently flags G rated swimsuit photos that wouldn’t offend your grandma as inappropriate. It’s ridiculous and I’m done. Oh, and all I’ve ever tried to do is clean up backgrounds or change colors. I’m not trying to manipulate the model in any way. Extending backgrounds is hit or miss but even a female model in a tank top and shorts can set off the Adobe”s prude alert. Ugh.
@johnfinlayson99632 ай бұрын
Agreed, it's useless if there is any bare skin in the pic.
@photoshopcafe2 ай бұрын
What happens if you temporarily put something else on a layer above the model? I know it’s a pain but maybe a work around?
@johnfinlayson99632 ай бұрын
@@photoshopcafe That kind of defeats the object if you are trying to get a fill that matches the scene and subject.
@derekkozacko13822 ай бұрын
I think the Gen AI will work better during the colder months when there aren't any bare shoulders or legs. It's very silly. Yes, there are work arounds, but now that they are charging gen credits, it needs to work more reliability and with higher resolution.
@WanderFeetChronicles2 ай бұрын
I agree, Adobe should respect the fact we’re paying adults, if we’re paying them money then they can let us decide if we’re being ‘adult’ about our gen fill etc. despicable actually that they block things. Using AI and not common sense to see if we’re ’being n rude’.
